Thanks. I have actually done the model for the MetLife North but I never got around to texturing and I don't plan on making any assets in the near future :(

Hi I've seen all your skyscrapers and it's great and I've downloaded them for my art deco city style, but I have a favor, can you make one for Metropolitan Life North Building (100 stories) if possible? that would be awesome

It's  this  asset. I edited it a bit with procedural objects and changed the textures.

Great building. Also I hope you don't mind me asking but what asset is the skyscraper with the hole in the middle, seen on the left in the 5th picture? It looks great and I've been looking all over, not yet being able to find it.

Thanks Deco Mayor, I'm glad they play a big role in your cities :steamthumbsup:

I second what Modern said. I love that you make deco skyscrapers that don't exist in real life. They're perfect focal points for my cities.

Thanks Modern :) I started working on MetLife North last year but didn't get very far. Will probably get back to it very soon.

Your Art Deco workshops are simply amazing! Please continue these, Art Deco is by far my favorite style to work with and you are by far the BEST option for people fans of 1930s NYC. Perhaps a Metlife North Tower soon?

@TheBusinessGoose: It's a modified Oceania .

what map did you use for the screen shots?

Hi @N2J, I'm a big fan of your assets. Would you be open to commissions for some Rochester buildings if you the had time?
Gilded Age 19 Oct, 2022 @ 9:59am
@N2J - Looks much improved.
N2J  [author] 19 Oct, 2022 @ 9:05am
Thanks for the help Gilded Age, I hope the updated version looks alright.

I can see in your side by pictures that the new model has window treatments in some windows. While there are many things you can do to improve the illumination map the lowest hanging fruit would be to leverage the window treatments in your creation of the illumination map. Google Ronyx69 "Building Illumination Map" and watch the youtube video. The video is very short but there is a concept in there that would help you. I also agree with previous commenter that the pattern of what windows are "on" could use some work because it looks unnatural.

First of all thanks everyone :)
@malvern city: Please don't hesitate to post these kind of comments! I really appreciate it and I can definitely see what you mean. I've never really experimented with different illumination maps and played it kinda safe. So that's probably the reason why it looks generic especially on this building. You are absolutely right and I'll work on a new illumination map :)
malvern city 18 Oct, 2022 @ 3:52am
@Chris6d - its a myriad of reasons. Windows all flat and exact same color of yellow. The windows that are "on" seem to follow the a diagonal zigzag pattern up the tower. Nowhere on the entire building are there two sets of adjacent windows on the same floor lit up due to the stagger pattern used. That feels very unrealistic. The two buildings next to it in the screenshots, especially the one with the glowing cone on top have much better window illumination.

I did have some hesitation in giving this feedback. Because I appreciate everything the creators do for this community. But because this is a skyscaper that will dominate a skyline and because this asset is advertised as "revisited" I felt it was important to provide the constructive criticism. Like I said in my previous comment the masonry texture improvements are outstanding but the illumination is what misses the mark.

@malvern city It could be because there aren't enough "on" windows, and maybe adding some other windows of varying light colors would fix that issue. But it is definitely a wonderful asset and I would love to see more! :steamthumbsup::steamhappy:

Your masonry textures are dramatically improved. I applaud you for that. Truly I do. But if I am being honest the night time illumination remains subpar. Look at the other skyscapers in your 9th image and it should be clear that your illumination looks far less realistic. I don't tend to nitpick illumination quality for low-rise commercial or houses but a tall skyscraper is visible from so many vantage points in a city that if the illumination is not of high quality it can really detract from the entire after dark vibe of the city.
