Added the 1.6 tag to the mod, folks! No functional changes this time that I've seen, but we don't know if Odyssey might throw around some odd terminology. Please report any instances of the words "Sanguophage" "Hemogen" or "Bloodrest" once it's out! Cheers everyone.

This is almost certainly still fine in 1.6, because it's all XML patching. Even if something were to go wrong, it'd probably just break a bit of text so it's safe to try out.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to update my mods for a while yet. My mother recently passed away, and I'm headed up north for the memorial. I'll get to them as I can, hopefully before 1.6 or the new DLC properly release or at least not too long after.

At first i saw this mod and thinked "Well, another person crying for something stupid" And left. But after 1000 hours of gameplay and a lot more hours outside thinking i finally understood why you made this mod and thinking even more i started to agree with you! So i am here to first apologize and secondly to thank you for making this mod (And also for teaching me a new word wich is neologism)

Lmao, @Nok it's fine. I was so blown by that like "how the hell could this possibly happen without anyone reporting it?!" But also even when you get thousands of people it's still totally possible there's some huge bug that just nobody ever says anything about. Only a tiny tiny percentage of people leave feedback at all, let alone useful feedback.

I'd rather people report and it turn out to be nothing than I find out the mod was totally broken for a year and nobody mentioned it.

@Nok Campire? I've seen no instances of that or ever heard it reported, and the string "Campire" doesn't show up anywhere in any of the files. Can you give me a more specific example of where you've seen this?

@Jiopaba thank you! I really appreciate it. As for the XMLe, it might not even be needed anymore, not really an expert on modding but I read that mod options are easily made in vanilla without needing a reliance on any outside mods. You can probably find an easy answer and solution on one of the mod discords like VE or Dubs

I added compatibility for VRE: Sangouophages today. Unfortunately, I also had to remove the XML Extensions compatibility because trying to keep that working was a nightmare of nested XML stuff.

I'll look into it again, but I've had like two people ever mention the XMLe stuff to me, mainly because they don't like the term "Torpor," and I've had thirty people mention wanting VRE compat. So, in the short term, XML Extensions had to go.

@Electric I don't use it myself, funny enough. The problem is they have more hard-coded junk in there. I keep meaning to take a look, but wind up putting it off.

I've also got to update my EM Metals Asteroids mod for EM2. Really need work to slow down a bit so I can breathe here.

Love this mod, it's really a must. But I do wonder if there's a chance you'll add a patch for Vanilla Races Expanded - Sanguophage? They used the silly made up words that Tynan used in the DLC too.

ah so glad this exists, I was just thinking to myself yesterday upon buying the DLC 'Why can't Tynan just call them vampires??? it doesn't make them less hard sci fi to do that.'

Question though, and potentially a dumb one, I do have XML Extensions installed but...I'm unclear as to where this compatibility patch is?

@Dragon of Desire as specified in the description, if you install the XML Extensions mod an alternate version of this mod will be loaded which allows you to change the terms for a lot of things manually.

The only caveat is that a few instances of "deathrest" can't be changed because they're part of the UI strings, but since what you want is specifically to bring back the word deathrest, that should be fine.

Could you make a version that keeps the term Deathrest? It sounds better with Vampires.Torpor sounds like it'd work better with the scifi-style Hemogen/Sanguinophages

@OJ "Sanguophage" sounds like a scientific term, but I probably could have lived with it weirdly. The thing that actually set me off was Hemogen. They play it up like it's a chemical derived from blood, then literally gave you the ability to put it back into a pawn to cure blood loss. That's not blood-derived, it's just blood dammit!

@Stormtrooper Yeah, I'm gonna have to look into that. I don't use it myself, and it adds a crapton of stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's as much work as the original mod itself.

If anything, I'm surprised noone has asked before.

Personally a big fan of calling Sanguophages by that name on vanilla or sci-fi oriented modpacks, but not so much for medieval/fantasy ones. Pretty neat mod.

I don't really mind the whole "sanguophage" thing but I dig this mod. I tend to prefer vampire movies that treat the whole thing as a curse rather than some kind of genetic virus.

Anyway I've been wondering for a while if there was an elegant way to import a lot of the White Wolf stuff from Rim of Madness: Vampires into Biotech, since being an old White Wolf guy myself I tend to prefer a lot of that style.

@anaris I mean instead of asking you could just use Google for about five seconds. Torpor isn't a neologism, it's a real word meaning a state of decreased physiological activity in an animal, just shy of hibernation. It was used in VtM, yes, but it's not like they coined the word themselves out of nowhere.

Besides, White Wolf Games alone has been using the word that way for at least 30 years, which would make it a hell of a lot less of a neologism than "deathresting." That's like the word a six year old would make up to describe a coma.

Isn't "Torpor" specifically the silly neologism for hibernation/cryptobiosis in Vampire: The Masquerade, rather than a general vampire lore term?

This might possibly bug the Sangophage meeting. It used to work before, but suddenly doesn't stop at all once it takes place. It's also still called Sangophage meeting :D
