@RustyDios Sorry, I didn't mean the "Bughunt" mission from ABA. I mean the mission "Assassinate Alien Commander". If you use mods that let other aliens spawn at other force levels, it seems to be possible for a Chryssalid to spawn as the "alien commander".

Its been a long time since I've played vanilla, so I didn't remember if this was a vanilla mission that was just proccing a Chryssalid instead of an advent officer, or if it was modded.

This mod has issues when a Chryssalid is chosen as a VIP to assassinate as part of a mission. When the Chryssalid burrows and comes out as a Hive unit, the original VIP is shown to stay in one spot and cannot be killed or interacted with in any way, probably due to the swap. Even wiping the whole field of enemies does not complete the mission successfully.

Is there a way to disable the hive gone feral animation it was cool thye 50 ripper eep doing the exact same shit ended up taking 2-3 minute of just watching

also for some reason the needle reaper keep causing crashes everytime they do an action or just being targetted

somehow the chrysalid cameleon, crashes the game because it wants to go feral.

Using "Ai to Ai Activations" makes it more apparent .. but .. Hivelids (or indeed any CHL-faction-team unit) targeting VIPS before they are activated, is a known issue with the faction teams in general. We do not understand why/how it happens. It is not something I can fix in this mod. :(

I'm looking into methods to reduce the advent-scatter > feral spawn > feral-scatter > feral turn chain. So far everything I have tried doesn't work, but I think I'm getting close to a solution.

In missions with VIPs to recover, the ferals tend to auto-wake on the entire map (probably because of the "make factions react to each other" mod i don't recall the exact name of), place themselves nearly anywhere they are "needed", but then play a second turn (their own) and attack sheltered VIPs that are ignored by the advent for a few turns and kills them. And make more lids of them but at this point it's moot. By turn 2 the mission is lost.

Is it possible to add to the ability to change teams so that the unit loses at least 1 action point or immediately spawns with 1 point? It will be fair.

Technically they are new units when they "go feral", it kills and recreates them on the correct team, this was the only way to do things without resorting to some seriously bad "mind control permanent swap team but still really only advent" code hackery ...

As they are then 'new' units they get thier 2 actions back, and then it switches to their turn, so they use the actions they have ... I guess that is working as intended. I only had 2-3 quick sessions with the mod to make sure it works, I've done NO balance passes, it might be OP .. but then the Hive is always OP as they could always spawn-scamper-attack anyway?!?

... also, sorry for your loss. RIP to your 2 operatives.

Case: the mission begins, I scout, place units in cover, end the turn. Then the chryssalids (regular) reveal me and get closer, use ability(turn into ferrral), their turn comes and they kill 2 of my operatives. This is fine? If they reveal me on their turn, should they move/attack again?

There is not a way in the current setup.

This mod does not work with the Direct Control Mod , where the player controls the Hive, which will be in the Alien team at the start of the game. Is there a way to trigger this if the units do not scamper?

Yeah, i had the same problem, crash or screen gets stuck, then saves become weird. It sucks cuz i LOVE this idea and mod.
But as others have said, no way you can fix that i think, we prop all have a huge variety of mods installed it would take forever to find the ones being incompatible. With havokscorp question i had to remove it mid campaign and have had no issues with it.
Still wanna say thanks for the mod anyway, because i had some great four way fights with it!

So after some investigation I can't get my own HIVE missions to crash with this :(
But I have seen it happen firsthand for others, and trust some of the reports below.

I'll leave the mod up in continual [BETA] state, users to use at their risk. I can't see why or how it is causing a crash for people, this essentially does to chryssalids what happens on an Andromedon Death. This just does that on ScamperEnd instead of Killed .. so shrug :(

Yes, I've also been having those crash problems on loading a save, but I found the mod nice, for a while, the added difficulty of worrying about running into a pod of lids made exponential, because when either I find them, or they are found on the alien turn, walking into my line of sight and being activated, then they scatter, or charge, then burrow turn feral, then their turn would happen, and attack.

Can confirm this was also causing crashes in my game. Resistance operative (recruitable soldier) surrounded by Rippers, the game would crash whenever I got close. Removing the mod fixed it immediately, even with the old in-mission save.

Hey Rusty. I mentioned this just now on Odd's discord, but I'll put it here too for posterity (and for those who aren't on the discord). I've now had three missions keep crashing when the hive is involved. When it crashes, I'm unable to even load the last autosave, it just crashes again. I have to start the mission over.

On the current mission, I'm now at three crashes, so I'm going to disable the mod and load the last geoscape save, so the units on the map will not be affected (as the map hasn't loaded yet).

Every time I launch a lost lure, the game crashes if chrysallids (feral) are active...so I'm not sure if there's some unintended interaction between the lost lure and them. I have disabled ai-to-ai activations, and it's still crashing.

For example, I would try loading maybe all 10 saves from a mission but(one at a time) only 2 can actually load me into a continued game until some game time later. It ends up crashing halfway through a battle(mines or enemies turn AKA Reflex turn) unfortunately. Then I'm still scrambling to find any load file to progress my game(specifically these bugs or crashes hit on infiltration missions, Haven Assaults with the Hive or Ambush Missions with Hive forces present). Hopefully I can seek some advice or information that can help me fix this problem. It would be greatly appreciated.

While I love the concept of the Hive this mod I believe is causing me the most trouble when trying to play through a game. Most notably the game ends up crashing when Hive pods are present. When loading back into a certain save the load screen sends me back to the steam library. I'm not sure if this is truly because of the Hive but all my crashes always seem to be linked to the Hive. It gets very frustrating because it seems like every time I try to load into a save file, the game can't handle the rendering and exit the game entirely.

I like this mod but i makes your game hella extended if you get ahive swarm for a resistance haven attack (i had to go through nearly 30 of them)

Well with tons of mods i added this one. And for some reason I am in mission where i have 4 pods of Aliens (no crysalids on whole map) and 4 exactly same pods on Hive team. At first i was like ,,Nope i dont want this" but now i take it like they are rebels or somehaw mind controled by Hive. And it´s kinda funny when you see 30 aliens try to kill each others.

I am not sure if it does this mod but it happendet only after this. Before i had only Hive. And sadly something went bad before and i cant change any of my configs because my game vould crash :D

Ah, sorry. Unless the Chryssalid is a unique template I don't think there is anything I can do to fix the issue.

incompatible with "aba: better mission", the "kill the bug" mission doesnt work, the target mark(icon) gets separated form the chryssalid, save reload crashes, sad

Any Chyrssalid group enemy will go to the HIVEteam after their scamper movement .. including ones summoned by Chosen, and during that mission. For the mission you might -need- the Faction Anchor mod or it will likely auto-complete. I'm not sure, I don't use the missions.

@RustyDios - Appreciated, and would expect it to be off by default. Would just allow for dual functionality for alternative uses, if expanded to include other enemy types. A psuedo-allegiance switching, if you will, when combined with BIsRandom =)
