-Dolmio figured out how to load aasimplicity's mods in 1.1 without game crashing.
-Full instructions I posted in discussion area of Aserai Overhaul mod.
-Basically you must delete a few lines that say /flags in the items.xml files.

Nope, you can activate it at any time and the changes should apply. Make sure this mod as at the very bottom of your load order for its changes to take effect (else another mod that changes items/mounts could conflict).
Also note that in the party preview screen (and trade/store/shop screen) all horses and camels will appear the same size. It's in battle (or taking a "walk through the lands") where you'll see the size difference.
Yes, for the higher-tier "Humphrey" camel you'll need to participate in tournaments (in Aserai Towns) to get a chance to get that camel. Same as in the base vanilla game. Or you can enable cheats, Click "I" for inventory and just steal a Humphrey camel from the game
