Can anything be done about mining laser ai on wrecks? Im sick of how it aims at the edges, and since the lasers do that scissor movement one laser is missing 90% of the time

Caused a crash on starting the game for me. I have a list of mods and one of those might also have interfered with it, such is that nature of mods.

I have a log file, but no idea if that would help or what to do with it. Any help?

At this date, the mode is still compatible and works fine, even with the release candidate, and even if the game warns you that the mod might not work with the current version.

It doesn't replace or delete the vanilla part itself, just changes the values used on it... so should be fine ...

I like this mod a lot. Though I noticed that mining lasers can't shoot over deck guns that have the power off. Maybe those count as different buildings while offline?

@Remx the mod is just one text file, you can change the range easily by adjusting the "With = 400" line.

Great mod! I frequently like to pretty I'm a salvage ship, wandering the cosmos and getting into trouble, so I often end up using only the Mining Laser for combat, to stay in character with this.

Although, a range of 400 is a bit excessive. I end up sniping enemies well before they have come into combat. The Mining Laser isn't exactly game breaking in terms of damage, so this is usually fine (especially when your outgunned and they can outspeed/range out).

However, I've noticed that the range from this mod is so big, that you tend to shoot pirate bases from well beyond their retaliation range, accidentally the Mining Laser into an Ion Canon. I would recommend lowering it to a range of 200 or less, and including a small disclaimer about the location of the mod, and how people can tweak the range to suit their personal needs.

As a Mining Laser main though, I love absolutely everything else about this! Although, like someone else said, having more doors on the room would be great too!

Ir would be better to remove range increasing or at least make it 150, not 400. If you think the same, you can manually chane it here

You should reduce the range to 300 so it doesn't out range other guns and allow you to safespot even stations.

Ok, I'm new to this comment section, and probably late; but PLEASE, do not increase the power consumption. It will basically render starter ships with the mining laser impossible, especially if it's increased above 1.5. Do it if you want, but I (the random stranger on the internet) heavily advise against this. If anything, lowering it to 1.0 instead of 1.2 would be balancing it, as it would be viable for starter ships more easily.

Don't increase the power consumption of the mining laser.
I don't think yall realize just how much power a mining laser eats up.
It already takes nearly the entirety of a small reactor to power 1 of them.
It requires 1.2/1.5 a second.

Previous message was just an idea I had btw, as i love it when people introduce new equipment ideas and weapons to the table instead of overwriting the vanilla stuff. The game is sorely lacking in weapon variety (yes, I know its a new game) and modders can help bridge the gap. Long as its locked behind research and forces players to grind a bit more for that satisfaction, it would be perfect.

I think you should make your own Mining Laser as a separate weapon, and showcase it as an improved version of the original, but heavily increase the resource cost and power consumption?

You could also decrease the overall damage of this version of your mining laser, but keep everything else the same.

Makes sense to have laser beams lose damage over longer distances.

@shuri-sama I'd say it already is a pretty good weapon as unlike other weapons, if you destroy a reactor or cockpit with the mining laser, you get as much from it as you would salvaging it after it becomes a wreckedge while destroying it makes it yield less resources.

So it's a great way to get a better yield from harvesting enemies, though shields stop the laser so getting disruptors is a must if you intend to use it for that purpose. My mining ship in the starter solar system can solo most missions which is quite funny.

this makes the standard miing laser so much better than all the new versions i found. and except the prisma beam it has the highest range too. so its a really good defense weapon as well

Wanted longer range for mining laser since i got my first miner. I loved to eat alive enemy ships in Avorion with scavanging laser instead of destroying usefull materials. Was a bit of trouble with just 100m. And you even made them combat ready. Guess i have to redesign my ships now. Thanks :)
