First, I just wanted to say that I love your mod. It feels nice to be able to finally use some corners and odd shaped spaces in my ship designs for cargo instead of leaving them as empty corridors.

Anyway, is there a chance you'd consider changing the Strings / FreeformStorageIcon value from "Storage (1)" to something slightly different? (Perhaps you could call it, say, "Storage (1x1)", "Storage 1x1" or "Storage {1}" ?)

The reason I ask is that "Storage (1)" makes it look identical in the Editor as some other 1x1 storage mods, which is confusing. Well, I'm tempted give up using the other mod with "Storage (1)". But it's part of a huge mod and I can't give it up.

Game crashes at startup. It appears a default file has changed. Missing an underscore in freeform/freeform.rules. Fix is below.

at first glance, this seems to be OP, BUT in the end, this only makes ense for factory-ships, because this tile has no upper access to be loaded from space for trade.
This makes this tile so bad, its balanced and good again.

That storage access from outside the ship is disabled (mention it in mod description where people considering using this can see it).

Ok, wish I knew that from the start. Is there a reason you're not making it obvious?

Also, still wondering if it's possible to make them like rooms. I like the no walls aspect but am not sure if the connected parts thing is limited to 1x1 stuff or not. Do you know?

@Nommy Freeform storage is not meant to be a replacement for regular storage, it's just there to help fill tight spaces. Therefore I have deliberately chosen to make it worse than regular storages by not allowing crew to interact with them from outside the ship. With that said, if you want to allow crew to pickup and deliver resources from outside you can simply clone my mod, and in freeform.rules, change AllowExternalPickupAndDelivery to true.

I don't see the point of bigger freeform storages, as at that point you could just use the regular storages.

One difference I've noticed is that the crew don't seem to ever drop things into freeform storage from outside the ship.

It's actually significantly slower going through an airlock twice for every trip rather than just flying back and forth outside the ship.


Any chance there's a property you can change to enable this?
(If not, I think it would be nice if you mentioned it in the description to let people know)


Also, do you know if it would be possible to create 'freeform rooms' of all the possible sizes from 1x1 to 4x4 (no walls but same as normal otherwise)?


It would be more practical to assign crew or resources to large areas of storage without having to assign to every tile. Just an idea/thought.

I like this for small areas now, thanks for the mod!

Seeing as how you already have the modular structures worked out, can you make modular crew quarter? I was thinking 2 crew per square after the first two squares. TY!

It would be great if you could add a version that has a hatch and makes a wall against corridors ? for faster loading/unloading, but i do love the aesthetic of how they connect to corridors right now with no hatch. they go well with the GA large airlock for a good look.

Hey apparently switchywitch deleted the 1x1 storage again.
Could you maybe put "OtherIDs = [SwitchyWitch.storage_1x1]" into your mod?
