Having any sort of construction material, even a feeble one such as this, freely available on Ice Sheet, is a quantum leap for gameplay in this biome. That means you can build structures, even fragile ones, without waiting, hoping and praying for traders to buy construction materials from (stone, steel, maybe wood).
As well as being able to reserve the stone for more permanent structures, the steel for crafting, the wood for furniture. I'm channeling both Ambiguous Amphibian's Ice Sheet challenge (Orange the cannibal) as well as Veequeue's 1000 days of Ice Sheet survival (both solo and multiperson) into this comment.
Only the lack of insects to fight keeps me away from an Ice Sheet run, but I'll do one one of these days.

The mod Worldbuilder by ferny now exists. And you can make your own planets to play on.
I'm definitely planning to verify the ambient temperature logic before updating this for 1.6 as things could have changed in the base game engine.
@Doctor Neetzow - I'm probably the wrong guy to ask about mods. I like to keep my games as vanilla as possible, and even now I only play with my own couple of mods. For a good time I'd recommend just turning down the temperature and settling near the poles.
I'm in love with the idea of surviving those since frostpunk.
I'd like to ask you 2 things:
1st) What are the configs you use/recomend to set up such gameplays in Rimworld (I'm realatively new to the game... added several mods, but never knew how to mess with game configs very much)
Pt 1/2
A) An "snowball earth" scenario, with little to no wildlife scenario... probably only moss on the equator or something like that... Maybe fish?
B) An "nuclear winter" scenario, with just a few spots with "less radioactive" environment, but fronzen cold as a trade-off, with nuclear fallout places, and lots of ruins in the sententrional regions of the map.
>>>> In case it's not possible to set up such gameplays with existing vanilla/mods, would you consider picking at least one of those to your To-do list? Sorry for being a nuisance.

I'll admit that this gets a little wonky when you start making double-thick igloo walls. Definitely let me know if you have any feedback - I'm open to making tweaks if something seems off.
@Messor feel free to make your own translation mod if you would like, otherwise I may take you up on the offer later after I'm done adding all the features I have planned.
Thank you both for your interest in bringing this mod to other languages - I'm honored you'd feel it's worthwhile. :-)
I did some testing and managed to uncover a load error that might have caused the behavior you're describing if your saved game had a pawn that was in the middle of a "make igloo bricks" job. I've pushed a fix - you'll have to let me know if it addresses your issue. Thank you again for reporting this!
I got an error when loading, and saving continually broke until I removed your mod.
