Mods like this is why i yern for a trait overall. Roleplay is key for this game and crafting personalities ive done many times for my characters.
Ullatec 2 Mar @ 5:38pm
Ok, ill check it out. haven't had much game play time today.

Na, i havent played 41 much at all. I stoped playing way before the animations were changed. After i get done playing with the random roll mod for a bit, ill definitely add this.
Monkey Magic  [author] 2 Mar @ 5:21pm
@Ullatec - please note that I updated Woodcutting tp B42 recently, and I only know for sure that these all work together in B42 - but in all likelyhood they should work fine in B41 too, if you are playing that still

@skrotanon - forgot to mention, but that "future" I mentrioned was a couple hours or so ago. New skills all have traits now. :P
Ullatec 2 Mar @ 5:18pm
w00t. If i ever want to use that damn skill, i ned to switch to something like this. Ill keep this one in back of my mind!
Monkey Magic  [author] 2 Mar @ 5:10pm
@Ullatec - Yes, I currently have Simple Traits running with Woodcutting , Scavenging and Driving skills; and well as Lifestyle: Hobbies which adds it's own content-related skills.
Ullatec 2 Mar @ 5:05pm
Does is work with Woodcutting Skill ? ;)
Monkey Magic  [author] 2 Mar @ 10:55am
@skrotkanon - I updated this mod early on in B42, so I didn't think about new traits, but yeah - if the Devs aren't planning on adding something similar I may add them in future.
skrotkanon 2 Mar @ 10:38am
Good stuff, I just wanted a mod that added some minor missing stuff like spears and long blades. Any chance of you adding traits for knapping or tracking in the future?
SDgamer 2 Mar @ 10:08am
The Gamer one is funny even though as a Gamer, i still go outside on hour long walks at least twice a day
Darkweave 25 Feb @ 8:18am
Excellent, thank you! Other trait mods seem too OP, this is what I was looking for.

@Jim - I dunno why reading the comments would put you off. It stands to reason that a mod that adds traits is likely to have conflicts with other mods that do the exact same thing..
Jim 31 Jan @ 12:48pm
Went to use this mod until I read the comments. Mod pictures are nice, would be well served with a description that mentions compatibility.
Monkey Magic  [author] 5 May, 2023 @ 2:30pm
@jtgibson - I had to re-upload all my mods after the game files got corrupted. This also meant I lost my workshop folder, and had to rewrite descriptions for them all which was annoying. But thanks for pointing out the re-upload doesn't have this information. Will edit shortly.

@Joelstradomas - My response was factual, not rude, but thanks for your concern. I might agree with your argument in some cases, but it does not apply here. There are a few mods that add multiple new traits, and none of them should be used together as they all trait overlaps. It would be much worse to have similar named traits appear in the choices that provide exactly the same bonus, but with differing costs.
Joestradomas 5 May, 2023 @ 12:02pm
Gotta say, I get your (the mod authors) intentions, but your response to M.S.Referee was rude and kinda sad. The guy is trying to teach you to be a better modder. Anyone who has done any software programming would tell you the same thing. Adding compatability is always a better option not only to help those who want to use your mod, but also just good practice. You may intend the mod for one purpose, but it hurts nobody to make it accessable to those who want to use it differently. On top of that, it shows a level of possessiveness that begs the question, why even post the mod if your going to act like a tyrant over how people can use it. Lastly, if you intend the mod to be used on its own, and your going to be rude and condescending to people who mention it, then put that in your description. You say "Read the description before offering advice" and meanwhile, nothing in the description indicates that its a mod that should be used alone.
jtgibson 12 Apr, 2023 @ 11:14am
Adding a namespace/disambiguating your item IDs is always best practice. I appreciate that you made your mod to satisfy a niche because other mods were too overpowered, but you didn't mention in the description that you didn't intend for it to be used with other mods. Besides, if you did disambiguate the IDs, people could use your mod *and* whatever other mods they choose, which makes your mod much more useful and increases exposure. Win-win, in my view!

@M.S.Referee - Um, no?

This is meant to be a Simple Traits mod. It is not meant to be used in addition with other trait addons - it was created because the existing trait mods offer traits that are too powerful IMO.

This mod offers simple traits that allow the player to tweak their character without breaking the game. Try reading the mod description before offering advice in future.

Thanks
M.S.Referee 6 Apr, 2023 @ 7:51am
It's good add-on. But some overlapping with other same feature mods definition name (also the icon name) conflicts.
It is recommended that you can rename all of them in this way, so that we don't have to worry about conflicts and overlaps with other mods.

In .lua file, for example:
--- change
"local basketballplayer = SimpleTraitsCreate("BasketballPlayer", 3);"

to

"local basketballplayer = SimpleTraitsCreate("BasketballPlayerSTT", 3);"

--- change to like this for translation:
"UI_trait_BasketballPlayerSTT = "Basketball Player",
UI_trait_BasketballPlayerSTTdesc = "You know your way around a basketball court.<br>+1 Fitness","

--- for icon:
trait_basketballplayerSTT.png

@SumYungGuy - Sorry I accidentally deleted your post, but thanks, I have fixed the issue now. Also gave me the chance to fix a typo in the description of one of the traits that I had been putting off due to reinstalling windows. Steam Workshop is awkward in that existing mods are not automatically recognzied unless they have the workshop file. Since I had to reinstall, I lost all the workshop files for my mods, and having to write them over is meh lol

@缘楼听雨

Not sure what you mean here, but If you're asking for a Chinese translation, feel free to write one up and I can add it
slutlouve 27 Mar, 2023 @ 3:17am
No, we need Chinese!
Mr. Vorbis 5 Feb, 2023 @ 3:31pm
This trait mod is really well balanced. It simply adds more traits for more build diversity without making you feel like you cheated.
Doe 5 Feb, 2023 @ 2:56pm
Awesome! I love seeing new trait mods, this one looks awesome! Very nice options
avennine 31 Jan, 2023 @ 7:54pm
this looks like exactly what i've been looking for. should be in the vanilla game
Monkey Magic  [author] 29 Jan, 2023 @ 9:39pm
I'll put up some screenshots and a bit more info later on. Just a bit tired from working on this mod all day XD
