this mod helps me cope about the fact that the fire emblem mod will probably never be updated again, so thanks jingo :er_heart:

@THE BRAINCELL KING the mod should work just fine on the latest version, I just updated the version number right now.
FREELOADER EUROPEAN 17 Mar @ 11:54am
is this gonna get updated? or does anyone know if its good to add to a playthrough

i love this mod. Just an extra bit of personalization to my charachter apperance after playing for 1k hours and getting tired of the standard options.
My another dream mod is freer charachter creator sliders, so you could go wild with it, and a randomizer for the world generation.
leonecrowther 7 Feb @ 8:11am
@Perry147 I'm pretty sure that is due to Matched Eyebrows rather than this mod, as when I create a ruler using that mod and try to change the slider for eyebrow density (I can't remember if this is the right name, basically the slider that isn't shape), certain % cause the character to become invisible or blue.

I'm guessing the DNA of some of your characters are landing on these values.
Jingo Spunk  [author] 27 Jan @ 3:28pm
@Perry147 I tried playing ATE with this mod and it seems to work just fine, can you give more information about the problem?
Perry147 27 Jan @ 8:05am
Seem to be getting a bit of a compatch issue with this and After the End. I'm getting the odd person who comes up completely tinted blue, or is invisible.

I have the options set for only players to use the new colours, and I have the 'Matched eyebrows and bodyhair' mod too, but other than ATE I shouldn't have anything else in my load order that affects character models.

Any suggestions, have I missed some kind of requirement, or could this mod be conflicting with some of the new options ATE introduces?

@dawid69929 try using the EPE version, I think MB integrates EPE into it so the EPE version should be compatible
dawid69929 12 Dec, 2024 @ 1:35am
@Jingo Spunk yeah it was traits mod, i didn't notice mb+ incompability note anywhere
Jingo Spunk  [author] 8 Dec, 2024 @ 3:10pm
@dawid69929 Is it this mod or the traits mod? The traits mod isn't compatible because MB+ changes the eye color palette.
dawid69929 8 Dec, 2024 @ 11:26am
Eye colors seem to have conflict with something in MB+
alchemistre 22 Nov, 2024 @ 1:34am
Wow, that was quick! Thank you very much.
alchemistre 21 Nov, 2024 @ 2:57pm
Hello, is a game rule possible to distribute only eye colours? For having eye colour variance without rainbow hair.I wasn't sure if it was better to ask here or under HECT. Thank you.
Jingo Spunk  [author] 11 Nov, 2024 @ 5:38pm
@YourThirdChoice just tested it myself and it still seems to work just fine on the latest version
YourThirdChoice 11 Nov, 2024 @ 4:54pm
is this still usable on .14 or is it my load order disabling the hue and saturation selection?
johan.eusoff 16 Oct, 2024 @ 7:30pm
My bad, it still works!
Ēarendel 10 Oct, 2024 @ 9:02pm
Lol it works fine, there are dumbasses who always ask update without even testing
Jingo Spunk  [author] 10 Oct, 2024 @ 6:59pm
@johan.eusoff does it not work anymore?
johan.eusoff 10 Oct, 2024 @ 6:58pm
Are there any plans for an update?
Jingo Spunk  [author] 3 Jul, 2024 @ 4:18pm
@shay Yeah I deliberately set out to make sure this mod would be compatible with anything so IDK why it would cause crashes, have you tried running just this mod and LOTR? It worked fine when I tried it, so I think this mod is probably conflicting with some other mod you have and not LOTR itself.
shay 3 Jul, 2024 @ 2:53pm
@Jingo Spunk Thank you for answer. It might be a conflict with another mod, but when I turn off your mod, everything works fine. I am not a modder, but from the look of it your code should be compatible with nearly everything, so I am surprised too: you add your own genes and stuff, should work on top of their genes. I'll try to troubleshoot that when I have the time, maybe I will find the issue. Thank you anyway.
Jingo Spunk  [author] 2 Jul, 2024 @ 6:39pm
@shay I tried booting up the mod myself and it seems to work just fine, are you sure that it's this mod that's causing your crash?
shay 2 Jul, 2024 @ 9:27am
Any idea how to make it work with LotR Realms in Exile, it seems your mod causes crash there. Wonder which part might be the cause of conflict.
GaelBlood 6 Mar, 2024 @ 6:26pm
beautiful work!
Ēarendel 25 Jan, 2024 @ 11:50am
I like that they're separate options and the palletes are separate. Adds more variety without taking away from the game. Instant subscribe.
Jingo Spunk  [author] 22 Jan, 2024 @ 7:58am
@corrino You could send me the files for me to look over. The genes from my mod are effects that apply to the base color genes so it's easiest to just make all the colors white and just use my mod's genes for the actual colors. Also your line has the range { 0.0 1.95 }, AFAIK you should never use values below 0.0 or above 1.0 for the range.
slctd_chrctr 22 Jan, 2024 @ 1:09am
@Jingo Spunk

Hey, I've done a custom congetinal trait with the same kind of physical changes for Albino (white hair/skin + red eyes), but using features from your mod.

Basically characters carrying my new trait will have dark green hair/eyes + white skin.

So far I've been able to make these physical changes work, but it seems to happen only at character creation. When the trait passes to children it won't automatically trigger the hair/eyes/skin color, despite carrying the trait, which is a bit frustrating.

Since this is my first mod I used the Albino template for physical changes (gfx\portraits\trait_portrait_modifiers) and added a few lines from your mod, such:

morph = {
mode = add
gene = hair_color_hue_mhec
template = hair_color_hue_mhec
range = { 0.0 1.95 }

To be fair I'm not quite sure of what I'm doing with these new lines.

If you have a moment feel free to add me, I could send you my mod (a very light one) for a quick file checking/suggestions.

@GamerGirlDK If you put the genes on your character in the ruler designer they should be genetic but the game's hair/eye color inheritance works on a 50/50 basis, meaning there's a 50% chance the color will be inherited and a 50% chance it won't. Your hair colors might have been lost after a couple of generations.
GamerGirlDK 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:17pm
But I also did put them on my first character in rule designer. That should make them genetic, right?
GamerGirlDK 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:16pm
I did not see any rules with genetic. But I do have them on random. Maybe thats the problem. I will look next time I start the game
Jingo Spunk  [author] 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:14pm
@GamerGirlDK Are you using the game rules to distribute hair colors? The game rules distribute hair and eye colors randomly. If you want them to be genetic you have to add the genes to your characters in the ruler designer.
GamerGirlDK 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:08pm
And 2 green hair gives pink
GamerGirlDK 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:05pm
Well.... My character has green hair and the father has yellow and our daughter has brown
Jingo Spunk  [author] 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:03pm
@GamerGirlDK They already should be genetic
GamerGirlDK 5 Dec, 2023 @ 11:46am
Can you somehow make them genetic?
Jingo Spunk  [author] 22 Nov, 2023 @ 10:11am
@alchemistre yes it should work regardless of version, I think I'll update it in a little while but the only change would be the version number anyway
alchemistre 20 Nov, 2023 @ 9:33pm
This looks like exactly what I needed, thank you. Is it good for 1.11.*?
Jingo Spunk  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 2:43am
@blazeknave hair and eye color inheritance are binary in the vanilla game. I think I could make the inheritance more like how you describe with children inheriting an "inbetween" color if I went back to my old version of this mod, which actually replaced the color palettes, but it would likely be incompatible with a lot of mods. Another problem is that it would mess up the vanilla color inheritance, like the child of a blonde and a black-haired person would have children with medium brown sort of shade.
blazeknave 1 Aug, 2023 @ 11:14pm
loving this mod! i'll run observe overnight when i'm done, or just when a game has run it's course, and it's always sad coming back and running down the dynasty tree to find that crazy color died out after 15 generations :)

feature request - this may be off the wall... so hair color gene inheritance seems to be binary - they my wacky hair color or they don't. wish the characters would not only inherit one or the other, but maybe sometimes it's whatever the combination of those colors is (not sure if there is a math for that) - so dad is blue, mom is red, kid is purple. OR maybe even sicker... one color becomes the highlight color of the other color (how the salt and pepper hair works)
blazeknave 13 Jul, 2023 @ 10:48pm
@Jingo Spunk - dude, this is great, thanks for the rec! Was about to say you should add it to the description... and then I glanced above this text box lol
blazeknave 12 Jul, 2023 @ 11:08pm
Thanks!
Jingo Spunk  [author] 12 Jul, 2023 @ 12:13am
@blazeknave that's an old mod that I reuploaded because the original was lost, the guy who made it eventually recreated it as Buck's Portrait Shaders . It should be compatible with this mod already either way.
blazeknave 11 Jul, 2023 @ 10:32pm
Came across this.. any chance of porting it into here? :)

That's helpful, thanks! Enjoying this so far!
Jingo Spunk  [author] 8 Jul, 2023 @ 2:18pm
@blazeknave Do you not know what hue, saturation, and value are? Hue is basically the fundamental color, saturation is how colorful it is, and value is basically just brightness. The sliders work relative to what color you picked in the ruler designer, for example picking blond and turning up saturation and value makes it a bright yellow.

I also decided to update the mod just to make sure it displays as being compatible for 1.9.
blazeknave 8 Jul, 2023 @ 8:14am
So I was sliding the Hue bar too fast to see all the colors I guess :/ Sorry about that
blazeknave 8 Jul, 2023 @ 8:12am
Okay hair is working well but Eye Color Value (MHEC) is just shifting between Black (left) and gradient to whatever vanilla color is selected in the picker (right).
blazeknave 8 Jul, 2023 @ 8:04am
Omg I'm sorry I don't think my brain registered.. I'll check when I'm at my desk
Jingo Spunk  [author] 8 Jul, 2023 @ 3:43am
@blazeknave Did you look at the screenshots? You use the sliders in the ruler designer to change colors, unless you are saying that the genes aren't showing up.
blazeknave 8 Jul, 2023 @ 12:05am
Last in load order but new colors aren't showing up in ruler designer.
