Thanks for the compliment, glad you like it.
On the sound replacement, can you give an example of which unit specifically you are referring to? The problem is there are so many sounds, and not all units use the same sounds. I can look into it at least, but no promises because often it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Thank you for the great work,it really change a lot!
Is it possible to replace the sound of slash with the sound of behead?
you know, the sound is like "poo"!

You are welcome, have fun. :steamsunny:

Thank you very much for the update!!
Volcano  [author] 5 May @ 2:03pm
Yeah, with Wwise (the sound engine that WH uses), I don't think that is even possible. As far as I know, the data is encrypted in sound banks, and it is beyond my capabilities.

@Mathicsatem
I'm pretty sure transferring assets (beyond animations) between TW games is not something CA wants people to do.

Hey @Volcano,
I'm a long-time fan, was wondering if you've ever gotten to hear the voices and soundtrack of the Beginning of the End Times mod for Medieval 2 Total War? The voices and music are exquisite, so immersive, and I promise that if you hear them, you will agree! Especially if you hear the voices of the Vampire Counts and Chaos Warriors! I
know you're probably super busy, but man if you were able to transfer the voices and soundtrack from that mod into Total War Warhammer 3, I would be so happy! Please let me know if you would consider doing it, or if you can think of a way that I could make this dream come true. While I'm no programmer, I could do tasks for you, such as extracting audio files via the vlc editor for you to save time.

@Dizzy Ioeuy
It has been a while, maybe you aren't using the mod, but just in case you are - another attempt here to improve performance in v7.2 for some situations. I found an issue with bows and crossbows that might have been causing too much processing when many are fired, and that has been improved here now. I noticed the issue (choppy sound) you mentioned in one particularly large battle, and then after this fix I haven't heard it again, so hopefully this is actually what the problem was.
Serious Lee 3 May @ 2:32am
Ah thanks for the answer. Guess I will have to get used to it eventually. Great mod though, it does enhance the experience. Maybe I try another Elsbeth run with it
Volcano  [author] 3 May @ 2:23am
You mean pre-6.1 patch of the game? No, can't really do that, unless you (through Steam) roll back a patch.
Serious Lee 2 May @ 9:51pm
Is it possible to bring the old gun sounds back from before 6.1
They were at least a lot more distinct. Like are they still stored in the database somewhere? Not asking you to do it just a general question
Volcano  [author] 2 May @ 3:06pm
Yeah, the WH3 sound engine is a mess. :steamfacepalm:
Serious Lee 2 May @ 11:31am
I noticed the engine sound issues too. Especially with the new rifle sounds done in 6 its even worse. Also the cathay rocket launcher and kislev little grom occasionally dont have a firing sound.(this is not related to this mod just an observation I made)
Volcano  [author] 21 Apr @ 5:30pm
No problem, yeah I had the same thoughts. I'll experiment with it and test it, then eventually "soon", I will update the mod to address it.
Have fun. :WH3_clasp:
Gwym 21 Apr @ 4:10pm
Hey man, that would be too awesome.
If not, then not, but good to know I'm not the only one noticing this sound, haha.
Have a good one
Volcano  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:40pm
...another thing I could also do is, I think, remove it (from the campaign map) from all but the undead horses (the horses used by the zombies and tomb kings). I might do that as a compromise. Let's see... :steamsunny:

But I guess the point is - I had already been looking into it, and this might help me decide what to do, exactly (leaving them for undead horses is probably best approach).
Volcano  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:38pm
OK, yes, this is the horse whinny sound, and I had felt the same way and tried to reduce it a lot. I may just remove it entirely (from the campaign map), because I had thought it should be more of an in-battle sound, for when they get hurt (for example). I will look into this more when I can.
Gwym 21 Apr @ 2:21pm
Thank you for the quick reply.
Yes, the sounds the mounts make on the campaign map and pre- and post battle.
To me, the horses make some of the most disturbing sounds I have heard in a game, especially after sinking countless hours in it, lol.
For example, when I have maybe 2 or 3 generals next to each other, in a province where I am recruiting and thinking about how to rearrange the armies, sunk in my thoughts with this beautiful ambiance on the map, then suddenly these horses start to scream as if they are being slaughtered, or worse.

Is there a way, to just delete a specific sound from the game?
Volcano  [author] 21 Apr @ 1:40pm
You are welcome.

When you refer to the horses, what are you talking about specifically? Their "vocals" I assume? And when are they doing it?

I had already worked on making their "whinnys" quieter, in the pre-battle screen where it shows two leaders and one of them is on a horse. Is that what you are referring to? Maybe I should look into that a little more at some point, or is it something else?
Gwym 21 Apr @ 10:51am
@Volcano
Thank you for the Mod.
Is there a way to get the Mounts, especially the Horses to be quiet?
Sorry, if this has been asked already.
Volcano  [author] 15 Apr @ 11:38pm
OK, well, if it helps - I have been playing with this mod non-stop since 2023 and never heard myself or from anyone else about anything like that happening, so maybe it was just a rare bug that happened in the game at the time.
Ven 15 Apr @ 9:56pm
Well i only bring it to your attention as this is basically the only audio mod i have, or at least, its the only one that would have anything to do with music, especially on the campaign map.

Haven't experienced it since so idk lol
Volcano  [author] 14 Apr @ 7:34pm
Hmm, well, nothing in this mod should adjust music volume level (or music in general) - I wouldn't even know how to do it, to be honest (never looked into it). Yeah, that is strange. :steamfacepalm:
Ven 12 Apr @ 1:22pm
So just this second, i got what i believe to be a bug with this mod. I can't be entirely sure, but considering this is the first time ive experienced it and this mod has been updated several times since i last got this, it may be this.

So im using the "Victory Conditions Overhaul" mod, the one that replaces the boring "take x amount of territory" for the long campaign victory with actual goals for each faction.

I just got a long victory, one of them anyway, with Miao Ying for wiping out the chaos factions north of the bastion and immediately after triggering long victory (and my legendary campaign long victory achievement, yey), the levels of the music shot WAAAAY up. Like, easily 5x louder than what they were beforehand.
Very weird.
In the time i tabbed out of the game to write this, i tabbed back in and its back to normal so...double weird.
Ven 12 Apr @ 9:07am
That might be the case. I didnt play when Yuan Bo was released but i cant remember a time when the drum sound was actually working lol.

Perhaps your bug report pushed them towards a solution? They may not have know about the event firing and such. They may have been aware of it but hadnt been in the files to investigate what was causing it yet.
Volcano  [author] 10 Apr @ 9:42pm
Good news, sort of...

CA_Liam replied:

"Dun dun dun! (Ironic drum sound) - Thanks for posting :) This is something we're aware of and are looking into."

So maybe they will fix it after all. :steamsunny:
I don't recall if it ever worked, because I think someone complained in the comments here about it being too quiet before. But maybe it worked at one point and was broken in some patch.
Ven 10 Apr @ 6:11am
Yup! I did that!

...I did want to add a comment to it to confirm what you said and mention how the bug has been occuring basically ever since the units release, but when i click on "Comment" it wants a title...steps to reproduce it....almost liike im submitting an entirely new bug report, which is weird lol.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 10:12pm
OK I wasn't as bad as it was before (way back when you had to file a bug through Sega, I admit that was WH2 days lol).

The bug is here:

https://community.creative-assembly.com/total-war/total-war-warhammer/bugs/7598?page=1

...if someone wants to vote on it.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 9:55pm
OK I will look at it, I think I did this before and they required a stool sample and anal probe level of details, designed to discourage people from reporting anything. Let's see if it is still like that.
Ven 9 Apr @ 9:52pm
You can submit a bug report on their website. I can do it if you like but as you're the one that went through the game files and found it, it might be better that you submit a bug report.

Its the same as their forums, there is a button near the top simply called "Bugs (!)". You do need a CA account but most people do already have one, as they need to link their steam to get the FLC like gotrek and felix.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 9:34pm
Experimented a little, but unfortunately it is broken. I did try replacing the sound event with some other sound, and that doesn't play either. So what I mean is, it seems like the "event" just isn't connected to the drum at all, so all we are hearing is Battle_Individual_Foley_Wardrum_Rope_Pull, but not Battle_Individual_Foley_Wardrum_Drum_Hit.

I have no idea how get in contact with CA in their ivory tower, but maybe someone can point this out to them to investigate. :steamsad:

Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 9:24pm
Right, what I mean is, the sound you are hearing right at the drum is the Rope_Pull sound, which sounds a little like a drum, but that isn't the drum hit. So something is broken here in the game on their end, yeah I am looking into it.
Ven 9 Apr @ 9:21pm
Well i mostly just pointed out the screaming bell because in the base game, you can hear it from a long way away and i can only assume the same can be said in this mod, albeit probably not overpoweringly so. Not fought skaven much with this mod and those i have never get to the point of having high enough level lords to get that mount lol.

Its just that...yea. I wana hear the damn drum!

But weird that there is a missing sound effect...i did find it weird that you had to get literally within touching distance to hear it, even in vanilla.
Maybe you could make some new sound effects for it, perhaps make it a seperate, small mod?
You'd only need three sound effects, one for each stance they can go in to.
Hell could even just be a single sound effect but sped up and pitch shifted depending on stance. Dunno how feasible that is though.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 9:16pm
Key: Foley_DLC24_CTH_WarDrum_DrumHit
Sound Event (Battle): Battle_Individual_Foley_Wardrum_Drum_Hit

...I could see if I can substitute some other sound event instead.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 9:12pm
OK, looked at both. The screaming bell seems fine/correct, but I did adjust the culling distance so it isn't heard so ridiculously far away. Haven't uploaded it yet, but the drum --- there appears to be a bug here, in the game itself.

There seems to be NO SOUND for the drum "hit", all you are hearing is the wind-up of the big drum stick (Rope_Pull). I think CA is missing a sound effect, or maybe the sound event is just broken...

Battle_Individual_Foley_Wardrum_Drum_Hit

...maybe someone should point this out? Hmm. :steamfacepalm:
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 8:56pm
OK thanks, I think I recall what you are referring to -- the platform on wheels with the huge bell. Ah yes. I will look into that.
Fat_Hobbit 9 Apr @ 8:54pm
"Screaming Bell" I believe - a mount option for certain lords
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 7:01pm
OK the Cathay war drum is easy enough to find after looking, but not sure about the "Skaven bells". If someone has a specific name of a unit that might help narrow it done, then I would like to hear it.
Volcano  [author] 9 Apr @ 1:29pm
Well, sarcasm aside, sure it might be possible. The issue is simply that there are so many sound effects, and the difficulty is finding the event that plays them. If I can do that, then I can certainly make one louder and the other quieter. But the problem is, they often aren't obvious to find, but sure I will search for it.
Ven 9 Apr @ 7:00am
Any chances you can make the Cathay war drum units far louder?

If the skaven can have bells that you can hear across the map, it doesnt make sense that the Cathay drums you need to be literally within 2cm of them to hear them!
Dizzy Ioeuy 1 Apr @ 6:46pm
ty, i'll give it a try!
Volcano  [author] 1 Apr @ 6:46pm
I just checked, and actually I did not increase the maximum number of sound samples that can be played from the original game's amount (500). If you have Rusted Pack File Manager (RPFM) then you could edit this mod, save it as a different name (like put _Edited on the end of the name) and then put that in your ...\data folder and load it instead.

You will want to look for a sound_settings.xml file inside, and then I suspect the numbers you will want to change is on line 1199 to 1201 (PROJECTILE_MIRROR_CULL_DISTANCE). My guess is that the amount of processing required for your audio chip is just too much for it, and change those numbers from
2500
0
5000
...to...
500
0
1000
See if that does it (let me know). If it does, then you can play with that number until you can make it as high as possible for you before it does it (this way you can hear the reverb as far as possible).
Dizzy Ioeuy 31 Mar @ 10:52pm
still stutters when my ranged heavy multi armies launch arrows... i wonder if i can limit the sound channels somehow?
Adamsevs 28 Mar @ 6:55am
Yup no one knows what CA will do later on, part of the thrill of modding perhaps ? hehe
And thanks for the update !
Volcano  [author] 26 Mar @ 3:18pm
I updated it, no more capital letters in the tables. It was tedious, and CA says they will fix it, but I don't quite trust that a future update will not break it again so the change/fix here doesn't hurt.
Adamsevs 26 Mar @ 7:16am
Hi, there's a discussion on how the latest update broke so many mods.
It seems any mods having uppercases in packfiles crash, regardless of the content of the mod.

Here is the link of the topic, if it can help skipping avoidable headaches that would be my pleasure :D

OK thanks, I haven't looked at it yet. Disable the mod for now -- it sounds like I have to make some changes to make it work again (I will do this as soon as I can, it is tedious). :steamfacepalm:
