You're right, my general had +1 cunning ;)

And, no, there's no such unseen effects which were to be automatically implemented, as mentioned in my description, they either got implemented via table 'effect_bonus_value_basic_junction_tables' or via table 'effect_bonus_value_ids_unit_sets_tables', if none made their way to one of the two tables, then well, it won't work. After all the explanations I've tossed and still you won't buy, then feel free to download Rusted Pack File Manager to do your own exploration of the game data, and see for yourself.

Hmm, just tested it, pretty sure it's not the case you mentioned. The german levy upkeep has been 110 for both Western Rome and Suebian if the generals had been randomized to have the same skill points. You do realize that if you spawn a game, the generals will be assigned to have random attributes, sometimes they got 4 authority of which does a 2% upkeep reduction, right?

Unfortunately, you are wrong, you misunderstood the faction trait.

The Vanilla version is about non-Roman units, not mercenaries. And this feature works fine.

If you start the game as the Suebians note that the upkeep cost of Germanic Band unit is 170 and the Germanic Brigands 140. However, if you play as Western Rome, you can recruit units from hordes. So when you create an army in Lugdunum you can recruit units from Suebian horde. Both of those above units have a 2% lower upkeep cost than the Suebians.

So this feature works as intended by the developers. So your mod doesn't fix the bug because it doesn't exist ;)

@bofan
Thanks for the info, just updated.

Just reporting a "mecerney" typo in the faction trait tooltip.

Thank you both for confirming that I am not imagining things. Got no upkeep reduction despite having 10+ non-roman units in the army, and no discernable chevron gain while playing only horse units with the Alani.

@Guvenoren
Well, faction trait per Alan is easier to fix, it lacks no thing but a definition, as for the West Roman trait, it can not be fixed, it can only be altered, there are no core mods of their engine to back up
the function they claimed as: 2% upkeep fee reduction per non-Roman units in the army. You'll have to make the game system count player's non-Roman units first, then you times it with 2%.
Guvenoren 20 Apr, 2023 @ 7:54am
Which is absurd how they could use the same undefined effect twice.
I figured it was a dummy effect and they had a script tied. But I find nothing

@Guvenoren
It's the same problem, Alan's trait has been left undefined
Guvenoren 20 Apr, 2023 @ 6:11am
I think there was another one too. The Alans and the Avars share a faction effect that gives +100% experience gain rate for cav that seems bonkered too. I have found no fix for that one either and even searched through scripts. Maybe you're luckier
Guvenoren 20 Apr, 2023 @ 6:08am
Checked so there's not a script tying to it? It may just be a dummy effect.
I don't recall what I did in my Bomblasted faction effects, but I think I made it into something.

Edit: just checked the packfile and I think I fixed the issue by making a new effect that just adds all non-roman units and smacks an upkeep reduction on it. Huh. I guess even past Guvenoren realised it was bonkered after all.
