No plan for fix? I think this is best looking solar panel mod in workshop..
TrueDeviL™ 10 May, 2017 @ 8:21am
So this takes up the space of 4 normal solar panels, but outputs far less, so imho, not worth using, I could use 4 normal ones, for better power output..
WingTsunLee  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 11:34am
Thank you Blind_Rifleman, I'll try to fix that soon.
Blind_Rifleman 4 Jan, 2017 @ 10:18am
That output is not normal, Keen changed some stuff. Wing, I fixed the mod on my local machine, you just have to add the line: <ResourceSourceGroup>SolarPanels</ResourceSourceGroup> right before the <MaxPowerOutput> line.
Tojaskukac 11 Sep, 2016 @ 4:48am
Is this output normal? (screenshot)

@ Teen_Tactical the issue with black textures in 1.150 is on Keen's side of things. It should hopefully be fixed this Thursday. :)
Normie 26 Aug, 2016 @ 9:52am
:steamhappy: Thanks man
WingTsunLee  [author] 26 Aug, 2016 @ 3:54am
Ok, thank you for your return, I'll fix that soon...
Normie 25 Aug, 2016 @ 1:27pm
The new update broke it. the texture is black and it doesn't give power. Dev version 01.150 Please fix it I refuse to use the small solar panels. This my favorite mod! PLEASE FIX IT!

UPDATE FOR DX11 COMING SOON ! ;)
Angel 25 May, 2016 @ 11:14am
think you need to update any mods have that made for DX9. seem keen removed dx9. DX11 only they.
Drayst 30 Dec, 2015 @ 2:41pm
Maybe you want to get in contact with "the witch"? He made a lot of DX11 mod conversions.

Sorry, I could not convert textures with SE tool (Textures converter)... Someone to help me for DX11 conversion please? I have traveled all tutorials and forums about it...
Feronox 18 Dec, 2015 @ 4:37am
Any news about DX11 compatibility?
Bretty12Qc 24 Nov, 2015 @ 12:46pm
ok good if I have installed in my server with star system do you know if possible he crash my server ?
WingTsunLee  [author] 24 Nov, 2015 @ 9:08am
Coming soon, i try that but i have some many trouble, i'm working on it
Bretty12Qc 23 Nov, 2015 @ 3:01pm
Dx 11 supported ?
WingTsunLee  [author] 1 Jul, 2015 @ 8:51pm
You're welcome, hoping I have helped you...
King_Predator2011 1 Jul, 2015 @ 7:18pm
i love this mod, i have a large "homebase" that depends on these solar panels for power but aren't rendered in DX11 yet but that wasn't game breaking so no worries. Biggest issue is one of my many mods are crashing the DX11 version so I have to debug it anyways. Thx for your hard work =)
WingTsunLee  [author] 1 Jul, 2015 @ 3:10pm
Hello , sorry for the delay in replying. I perform an update of this mod.
King_Predator2011 31 May, 2015 @ 3:34am

Yes, I'll try that soon.
King_Predator2011 30 May, 2015 @ 11:22pm
Could you please update to DX11
Keigarr 6 Oct, 2014 @ 8:24am
Nice mod, comes good with my large ship ... way better than the originals .. !
Malakeh 1 Sep, 2014 @ 7:47am
I was refering to the large one (large cube) in this mod. In this mod for some reason even if you state the large solar panel 600KW is not centered it actually is. idk if its a bug or something...
WingTsunLee  [author] 1 Sep, 2014 @ 4:53am
For a centered version, https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=304629387

unless you were talking about small cubes....
Malakeh 1 Sep, 2014 @ 2:59am
Could you make another version of this which is not centered?
mack 26 Aug, 2014 @ 10:14pm
Your mods are very, very cool. I've used them in my survival game (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=306279737) , which I added to Steam earlier today. Thanks for sharing your work!
Galbi3000 22 Aug, 2014 @ 8:55am
@Vas lighten up! SE is not a simulator!! Stop quoting real life for the game mechanics :P

Though I do agree it should match the rate of the game's solar panel for consistancy. I will be looking at the adjusted version :)

Just remember, it's not a simulation of real life space engineering, since when in real life can we survive in space without food, water or air? Just energy to keep us alive! LOL It's a game, treat it as such :)
Vas 22 Aug, 2014 @ 6:27am
It certainly would be hard getting solar energy out past Sedna as you can plainly see. :P
WingTsunLee  [author] 22 Aug, 2014 @ 6:10am
Wow ! Good job !!

I will leave this mod for those who want a little more energy, I did the correct data solar panel...
Vas 22 Aug, 2014 @ 5:34am
I was looking into a way to mod other people's mods with a mod, override their values and stuff. :P But ok. :P If you really think about it though, the game's solar constant is 2.4kw/m², yours was about 3kw/m². Do you know what this means? Venus, has a value of 2.61kw/², It is 0.72335 AU away from our sun. Your solar panels received energy equivalent to being between Mercury and Venus, at a distance of 0.67478 AU. :P Just something to think about is all.

My solar constant data sheet, math and all to automate the process of finding energy output at a certain distance. I'll be working on more stuff over time to make the data more and more accurate but so far, this is incredibly accurate.

WingTsunLee  [author] 21 Aug, 2014 @ 7:43am
I "made" a new mod just for you @Vas ;)
WingTsunLee  [author] 21 Aug, 2014 @ 6:58am
For you @Vas, I'll make a solar panel as you wish, respecting the proportionality of the game.
Pheasant Plucker 19 Aug, 2014 @ 4:58pm
Not too good with obvious Hyperbole, I see, Vas.
Vas 18 Aug, 2014 @ 6:53pm
Advanced Warfare, how the hell does it take 300 solar panels to power a f--king beacon? It takes TWO SOLARPANELS MAXIMUM, for unlimited range beacons. Beacons draw power on a scale of their distance, and one single solar panel produces 120 kilowatts, a maxed out beacon takes 200kilowatts. A refinery & assembler takes at most 560 kilowatts. So don't bullshit, solar panels are extremely overpowered in this game ever since the recent developer update to make them produce that much energy. I'm only asking him to add more surface area to this solar panel or reduce it to follow game solar constant of 2.4kw/m². 480kw is an extremely decent amount of power and reduces the number of solar panels you need to build by 4 times.

Hell, my entire base runs off 8 solar panels, I could build 2 of these at 480kw and power everything. I have 4 assemblers, 2 refineries, 12 lights, med bay, a beacon, 16 batteries. So don't bullshit about this needing 300 solar panels to power one tiny little device.
WingTsunLee  [author] 18 Aug, 2014 @ 5:20pm
Yes, I think it must be rebalanced for to be usable...
Pheasant Plucker 18 Aug, 2014 @ 4:55pm
Blah blah blah Realism. How about I'm tired of building 300 solar panels to power a beacon. Anything that makes renewable energy not a groan inducing tedious chore is a plus in my book, realistically possible or not.
WingTsunLee  [author] 18 Aug, 2014 @ 10:02am
@Stew : It's a new model ;)

@Vas : I try to find a balance between reality and practicality, not abused ...

So, I can reduce to 480 kW max if all want that...
Vas 18 Aug, 2014 @ 9:19am
I dunno what you mean by that Wing, if you want to make this one realistic. Either increase it's block size to 9x4x1, or decrease it's output by 120kw. Surface area is what gives you the energy, not cramming more cells into the thing. The point of solar panels is they can not be compact, they require surface area, that is their disadvantage. They take space.
TSM [EGC] 18 Aug, 2014 @ 8:47am
@WingTsunLee is this a new model or a replacment?
WingTsunLee  [author] 18 Aug, 2014 @ 7:27am
yes I understand that is not real as the capacity of the containers...
It takes almost 42 solar panels original to compensate for the small reactor...with my panel, it takes about 8...I calculated that to make these solar panels are really usable...
I think the gameplay and I try to adjust without "cheat block"...

Vas 17 Aug, 2014 @ 7:32pm
1/4th as powerful as the original? That'd mean it'd be 30kw. 1/4th of 120kw. If he'd just drop the extra 120kw it'd be logical again according to the game's solar constant of 2.4kw/m².
Duncan Imperium 17 Aug, 2014 @ 7:12pm
@Wing, Just make it 1/4 as powerful as the original solar panel.
Vas 17 Aug, 2014 @ 7:08pm
NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH? It's like 50 times more powerful than logically possible in real life. In range of earth, it would provide about 274kw, At Venus 522kw, You'd have to be between Mercury and Venus for this to be logical. At least it isn't as bad as this guy who pulled a random number out of his ass: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=300635995 - His provides 1.5mw and you'd have to be 12.5 million kilometers closer to the star than Mercury. If you're going to add another 120kw to it, make it larger, 9x4 blocks in size. It'll always be flat so you don't really need the x1 to indicate it's flat. :P

Of course the game devs have never told us how far from the sun we are so I can't tell where we are. I know we aren't between Mercury and Venus though.
WingTsunLee  [author] 17 Aug, 2014 @ 6:57pm
Yes, I multiplied the surface by 4 and I multiplied the energy efficiency by 5 instead of 4 because I felt that the original solar panel was not powerful enough.
I play on a RP server and I try to balance the game...
Vas 17 Aug, 2014 @ 6:09pm
This does not compute. 4x2 is the original large solar panel. It produces 120kw (even that is illogically overpowered. The surface area on the one you made is 4 times larger, meaning 480kw would be it's logical max. But you made it even more powerful than that, which breaks the laws of physics even further.

Lets pretend we are in orbit around Venus where the solar constant is 2.61kw/m², which means that on a large ship a 1x1 sized solar panel would give you about 6.525kw of power. Now, the large solar that is 4x2 blocks would have a total surface area of 50m², 130.5kw of power. Yours, has a surface area of 200m², which gives a power of 522kw. Divide this by 130.5 and you get 4.

Your solar panel is exactly 4 times larger and provides 25% more power than the smaller version of it.
WingTsunLee  [author] 17 Aug, 2014 @ 4:15pm
Why not, but there would be a problem for energy efficiency...^^
