This mod won't add any extra alcohol dependencies, but Expanded Dependency Genes has an alcohol reliance gene that acts as a more potent variant of the vanilla alcohol dependency gene.

just what i was looking for.
(Intend to do an "dwarf fortress" style playthrough and was searching for a way to add the "drinks only alcohol" setting to it. I was already afraid that i would have to hack around in "bad hygiene" to make alcohol the only valid source of fluids.)

I have no plans to ever create basic luciferium genes as the only way to implement them would be to make them overly harsh, which goes against the idea of creating balanced genes that many people would be interested in.

how about to add luciferium, but with more frequently consumption? like every day consume.

I'd liken it to not being able to use lavish/fine meals or megascreen TVs and radios

Yeah drugs aren't required but they're also super useful (especially smokeleaf and alcohol)

I can look at adding it, but on top of potentially being out of my current capabilities, I'm not sure how I'd make it something that people could get use out of.

Depending on how it functions, most people would probably just avoid the drug altogether instead of taking that gene if the gene has a metabolic loss, and if the gene gives metabolic efficiency, that would basically end up being unbalanced free metabolic efficiency since there's no requirement to take the drug.

I have an idea:
Drug immune- Can't get addicted but cannot be intoxicated at all
Hastur, The King in Yellow 2 Aug, 2023 @ 10:07am
thankfully VFE- hussars adds a luciferium addiction and it is shortened compared to a regular dependency, making it only mildly better to manage compared to a regular addiction

As I mentioned in the description, luciferium dependency actually has less of a challenge than luciferium addiction itself. The addiction causes risk of death after 6 days, while the dependency requires 30 days for unconsciousness, and 60 days for death.

What about luciferium dependency? It shoul be a noice challenge!
