Okay that does make sense. I have noticed they grip the pike pretty close to the front in some animations, it may be related.

@dagobert dogburglar another user feedbacked that the pikes were clipping through the heads of the pikemen in front when being held in the overhead thrust.

I like every part of this except removing overhead thrusts? Why? In almost every historical depiction of pikemen and fencing manuals a high thrusting guard is extremely common.

Pikes are *very* light, they wouldnt be usable otherwise. Almost every single contemporary historical example of a pike is under 10 kg.

so it worked to about 90% of them use the pikes now but a few do not still

In the mod options Spear Preference Fix for RBM, try resetting the settings to default. When in battle, make sure you put your pikemen in shield wall and order them to advance, not charge.

@WittyName strange, I don't face the same issue as you. And by mod requirements I mean you need to have Adonnay's Troop Changer installed in order to use DRM.

I ran only DRM, Better pikes, RBM and there are no pikeman lol. just tell everyone that you need to play vlandia with DRM, BP and RBM to have better pikes. Its rediclous that modders claim this stuff works and download all these other mods so you can get pikemen for every faction when its clearly not true.

So, thanks for the mod. its great if you didn't have to play one faction. Please remove DRM from the suggested mod list because that mod has zero pikemen so its very misleading.

Yep, I installed all suggested mods within this article and what steam asked me to do. i'm just telling you, DRM is a really bad suggestion for a mod to download, there are zero pikemen in that mod. You might as well tell everyone to play vlandia in vanilla to play this mod. DRM has zero pikeman, none, zip, nada.

It's a cool mod with the troop trees and all that but it completely removes pikes, even vlandia doesn't have pikes with that mod.

How so? I played for 6 hours yesterday, no lords army had pikes units in it, no villages, towns or taverns had pike units.

Why is DRM recommended? there are no pikemen in that mod. unless its something you recruit out of a tavern. No factions troop trees have pikemen.

I really want to like this mod. Pike and shot/crossbow tactics are amongst my favorites...
But it seems like every time I try to make a new game with this mod it just crashes.
Any hint or help as to how to fix this issue? Thanks

Decent Mod But Pikes Are Still Terrible Against Infantry.
I once had 30 pikeman and they couldn't handle 8 bandits, i had to get them in line formation so they would use their swords.

Regarding the current slider of pike blow magnitude, the issue is that it can't go lower than one. If it could, it would be great :)

But I wouldn`t call this mod completely unbalanced, since cavalry lances are "buffed" as well, so cavalry deal a tremendous damage to "uncovered" infantry (or the very same pikemen, if caught on the move).

Anyway, I`m so happy that my pikemen started to actually hit or brace enemy horsemen. Because so far, even with RBM, they were just standing still no matter what and making enemy cavalry flow freely through their ranks. AI morons. I know that soldiers are stupid (I used to be a soldier myself), but to this damn extent?!

Daaaamn, with these new pikes I feel like a cheater! My Casterly Rock Pikemen (from RoT mod - and yeah, they are compatible) slew 110 Vale knights in 2 minutes while loosing 9 men. Goddamn impressive! With simple RBM the ratio of losses was around 1:2 (to pikemen`s advantage), not 1:10.

But it makes sense, cavalry lancers historically are not supposed to crash pikemen formations freely.
