Daniel, its basically what agseig just said, IRM (Illinois Railway Museum) is awesome!! The line is only five miles long. If you'd like to see the museums website go to www.irm.org . The UP line that goes to Belvidere serves the Crysler plant and the trains usually go towards Belvidere about 4 or 5 and the train towards the City of Chicago is usually through there in the night hours. Recently IRM has gotten there Frisco decapod 1630 back to revenue service.

It's not too many, because the line is used to serve the Belvidere Crysler plant, so it's mostly autoracks. I've only ever seen one or two freights there. And, I also live about an hour or so from there, and I have been to the museum many times. It is very nice, the have a DDA40X, a BN U-boat, and a Wisconsin Central SD45, to name just a few. Tehy alos have excursion trips down their own tracks that parallel UP's. They also have many displace sheds and a working trolley line. They also have the only E5 in existence. Once, I even saw the CNW Heritage unit there. So, yes, it is very nice

How many trains a day go out there Captain Carpet? And is that museum nice?

agsieg: You are correct. I live near that line that goes by the Illinois Railway Museum. It is the old CNW. There are no passenger trains that run out that way. (Although Amtrak is planned to run out to Rockford within the next couple of years) Metra does not access Huntley because there is the Elgin line from Big Timber and the UP Northwest Line which runs to Harvard IL and farther north to Janesville WI.

Thanks.

I will guess that the third tracks belong to the Union Pacific. They line through Union is Union Paicifc's Belvidere Sub, which branches off the the ex-CNW Geneva Sub, which runs through Elgin. But I could be wrong. And I also may be wrong on this, but I think Big Timber is on UP tracks anyway
