It's a nice set of textures, besides not many good looking rebel skins since nobody wants to work with the UV, I can count to like, maybe 4-5 notable good ones.

Nice, I'm surprised there's still an interest in my old stuff. I never bothered uploading this or anything else to the Gmod Workshop myself so its neat seeing it all pop up again from time to time.

It's nice to get a little insight as someone new to modding Source, so thanks for that bit of info. I'm not bothered by the lighting errors or server incompatibility, it's just the lack of those addons. I sort of get why someone wouldn't want to make them now, though.

yea but theres some weird lighting bugs that show up when you use bodygroups instead

Sabre-ans headcrab zombie mod uses skins actually instead of bodygroups in tandem with various invis textures, but your point still stands

Its more or less a technical limitation of replacements that there arent any of those, you would need a lua overhead to randomize bodygroups which obv wont work on servers unless they have it, kinda like Sabreans Headcrab Zombie mod.

It good that you've preserved and upodated this. Unfortunately, now the other comments have reminded me that there's hardly any Rebel replacements with bodygroups...

Id rather not, mainly because stuff like the straps for the armor is apart of the texture, so allowing you to remove the armor would mean that you would just have straps on that are connected to nothing, some of which arent seamless because the UV never was designed that way so it looks incredibly strange.

Beanie on and off, and eye color though is possible (and i have already done eye textures as i did a similar thing for HL2RP Enhanced Citizens) but id need to replace the head for the former since its stock male_09 rebel like the original model, half the head is culled, and refit a new beanie bodygroup, which is not something i want to do anyway because its more or less supposed to be the original model with some small adjustments that fit the textures better and QoL fixes.

You should add the customizeable bodygroups from the V92 version. (the ones that changes accessories, gloves, eyecolor, etc)

Yeah but you have to do it to the base model, 5 LoD models, with 9 male rebels (and 6 female rebels but they use a different texture sheet altogether so theres that too) its a lot of work to also do that properly since all the rebel heads are actually merged with their body mesh so you would need to remove them by hand, even with shortcuts it would probably take a long time.

Well you could just replace the models entirely.

See a replacement is impossible due to how the rebel textures are set up, all the rebels share the same texture sheet, blue, green, medic shirts and pants in a 2K texture, Rusty grayed out all the other bits of the sheet and only modified the green shirt and green sleeves and green beanie etc, and replaced the black hands with white ones too, to fix the fact that Male_09 calls for the black hands and not the white ones on the sheet.

i might be possible if someone meshed the various details together and use stuff from other
fan rebel sheets but its unlikely, rebel reskins are rare due to how time consuming and hard to make they are.
