OK, figured out the problem - this seems to be incompatible with Ethics and Civics Classic (4.0 Fix WIP)...

It doesn't seem to let me change the Civic points, and it appears to cap the Ethics points to 5, no matter what I put in the FS settings...

Btw I think at this summer I will have plenty of time to update it. Anyways you guys know Paradox update it's games really often, so my efforts are always delayed... that's why the FS.

You guys don't need to know anything about coding... that's why I made a script for you. You just need to run it it's almost entirely autonomous, and you don't need a IQ of 10 to run it.

Also I made it specially cause I don't even have time to get on my PC while i'm in university time. I can only get on my pc at university and job holydays, and even that sometimes is impossible for me.

Check out the description and download FS. Otherwise it's impossible, I'm sorry ;)

I know nothing about flexscript or coding. Is there any chance you can update this for the ones like me that done know how to fix it ourselves.

i see, main issue i had so far was a crash upon entering the trait menu but that might be me on 4.0 and not knowing to update it

For what I remember the file i've uploaded was meant for 3.11. Anyways you can autoupdate it with flexscript.


I will be able to update this after my exams phase. Finally, in june +/- july.

My game is crashing on launch, even after updating through FlexScript. Both as part of load order and as the only active mod.
Replacing 00_species_archetypes.txt and 00_defines.txt with the vanilla files and manually updating the values did prevent the game from crashing though!

Thank you for being so responsive to your comments. I got frustrated when quickly installing last night while tired, then tried again this morning with no more success. Lo and behold, the solution was 4 comments down. Bless you, my friend.:steamthumbsup:

I can confirm that using the FlexScript mod to update the files resolved the crashing issue I was having prior to running it.
Prior to taking that action I had unsubbed and resubbed to the mod to force Steam to update, but that did not resolve the issue.

I've been experience those same crashes Hulls. I love this mod. Unfortunately, I've recently experienced consistent crashing of my game whenever I try to start a new game. Something's definitely broken because I've started with my only this mod enabled and it just crashes the game. Please fix. =(

Sad to come back to Stellaris after a long break and see one of my must haves not working, doesn't really matter right now though considering the massive changes coming in a month though. That's bound to keep you busy.

Anyone else experiencing game crashes on galaxy creation with this mod? If so have you found a work around? I know its something to do with this mod due to it happening with a blank play-set with only this mod installed and nothing else (not even Ui or Audio mods). I'm using the Github script to do custom settings.

Anyways thanks for trying to keep this mod up to date as much as possible considering your very limited time and busy schedule, hope you are not too stressed these days and can enjoy yourself still.

Nevermind, figured out the issue. Ethics and Civics classic overwrites the values of the script, even though I have the actual flexscript mod below it.

I'm having issues using this script as well. Despite setting everything up and inputing both beast one time and standard the next with the script telling me that everything loaded correctly, my game still has not changed from vanilla settings. I'm kinda dumfounded, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

To be clear, it's not bugging my game. It simply defaults to the mod's standard values, regardless of what I've input in the customization script. Like I mentioned before, I have no other mods editing the files this one does. Not "00_defines" or "00_species_archetypes".

This shouldn't happen, it may be incompatible with another mod of yours that tweaks the files this mod changes. Try disabling all mods and only enabling this one.

You can check the community helping creating FS script on the forum "Share issues & Feedback Here" and them thanking for this project.

It's not my fault that you don't have time to check the files, I also don't have time to update 3 customized mods manually. That's why I had the idea and we made FS script to help making this process autonomous. Most users are happy with it and it actually works.

this mod totaly bug my game .... just test...game bug only if i enable this... i can not start a game, it will notably bug out all the storm settings ... can we have the good old mod that just give more trait/civic/ethic instead ?

also there is no way in hell i use an executable to configure, even if it come from an open source github..i dont have the time to check your code to see if its secure or not...

customizing doesn't seem to work. I checked and I have no other files modifying 00_defines.text. I've tried with the mod at both the top of the load order and bottom. Strange.

flexScript is pretty mutch customizable, you should be able to define that folder manually, either while detecting the directories or in the final menu, on the settings.

Both 00_defines.txt in the base files and in this mod show GOVERNMENT_CIVIC_POINTS_BASE = 6 (I changed the base one), and it still shows only 3 civic points at empire creation. The mod is also last in the load order.

Can't use script because I have GoG version of game and use some sites to download mods from Steam mods library. Script tried to locate a workshop folder that doesn't exist but I have mod's folder in my Documents/Stellaris folder. Can u edit scripts to be able find that folder?

this mod for some reason sets cosmic storms, cuthloids and voidworn multiplier to 0x, and causes the game to crash when creating a new game. No idea why its affecting those settings.

I'm going to do what I promised. It's just going to take some time, especially knowing that Stellaris has been updated so much that I'm going to have to relearn a few things before updating this mod.

@MajorGeneralPike Hello. I'm not lazy. I don't need to justify myself to some guy on the internet, but I don't want this mod fans to be misinformed. First of all, I'm in the military, so my time is already reduced just with my normal service and irregular schedules. To help this, I'm taking a course at university in the evenings, I commute and waste about 3 hours or more a day on public transport. And I also have a life after work and college, I have a family to look after, a wife to spend some of the time with, and friends too.
Right now, this mod isn't my priority in life. I told you I'd update it when I had time, because I really don't have time, and when I do have some time I want to spend it with my family and/or friends. Coding / programming is a task that requires energy and motivation, and until I finish my degree my motivation and time for other things and side projects like this will always be low.

Hi, it's not dead! Just a bit on hold... I've been really busy over the past few months, and it hasn't been easy to get back to modding projects since I had to prioritize important things happening in my life. However, I haven't forgotten you all or this mod.

I'll update the mod and the flex script as soon as I have the time and feel motivated to dedicate myself to them again.

If you're running into any crashes with this mod in 3.14, copy the 00_defines.txt file from "steamapps\common\Stellaris\common\defines" into the "steamapps\workshop\content\281990\3038118849\common\defines" folder, replacing the file in that folder.

Next, open this file and search for "ethos". Update "ETHOS_MAX_POINTS" and "GOVERNMENT_CIVIC_POINTS_BASE" to 5, or whatever you'd like the new values for Ethics and Civics to be.

Save the file and you should be good to start a new game/continue your current game.

This should fix all post-update crashing with this mod, it's what I've been doing for a while when I'm impatient between updates.
