Oh shit, seriously?I apologize for my stupidity, I kept looking for him, wrote Merc's Mohawk
Pte Jack  [author] 10 Jun, 2019 @ 9:45am
Why, it's already in SFM as the game\tf\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe\short2014_lil_moe_(CLASS).mdl Just type lil_moe in the model browser.

Didn't see this in the description, Did you?

If you're still having problems, see this guide. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=511040608 . I provides 3 methods on how to get these Materials fixes working in SFM.

Click the link in the description. I show 3 different methods in the guide on how to get them to work.

Just like the description says, the MATERIAL files download to the

SourceFilmmaker\game\workshop\ (<- because it is from the workshop, then under that folder) materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe

And you are correct, there are only 3 files that download.

short2014_lil_moe.vmt,
short2014_lil_moe_color.vtf and
short2014_lil_moe_normal.vtf

These fixed materials have to have a higher priority than the TF files. You do that by either giving the workshop folder a higher priority or create a new folder under the Games folder giving it a higher priority than the TF folder and moving the materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe path plus the 3 materials files into it.
Pte Jack  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 5:43pm
if you copied the workshop files there it should work for you now, then.
Pte Jack  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 5:16pm
in your case... usermod\materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe\ (because your not that experienced yet.)
Pte Jack  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 4:16pm
The files will download to
sourcefilmmaker\game\workshop\materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe\short2014_lil_moe.vmt and vtf .

The usermod path you said in your post will work.

Or you could give the game\workshop folder a higher priority or you could move them to a new folder like,

sourcefilmmaker\game\{foldername}\materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe\ folder

and give the {foldername} a higher priority using the SDK Edit Search paths for selected mod feature.

I don't plan on changing these file so you would be safe unsubbing the workshop item after you move the files so you don't get hounded to download the workshop files again..

Thanks ;)

Then you must have the original material in a folder that has a higher priority than the workshop materials (like tf, usermod, tf_movies, etc)
JULIUS 16 May, 2015 @ 10:10am
Still won't work.

No matter what I do I just cant paint this damn hat, Please help I've tryed almost every way
Pte Jack  [author] 31 Jan, 2015 @ 3:15pm
Nope, you have to maintain the file path... because this is a redo of a tf2 materials, to put it into user mod you would have to put it into usermod\materials\models\workshop\player\items\all_class\short2014_lil_moe\short2014_lil_moe in order to get it to work...
mamadiddle 31 Jan, 2015 @ 2:30pm
I can't figure it out/get it to work at all... I don't know if it's just me being stupid or what. I don't know what you mean by/how to change the priority of the folders... I've tried putting the lil moe folder in Usermod with your files in it and still I get nothing. Help please? :(
Hazza 19 Jan, 2015 @ 1:22pm
Added you, but I randomly figured out all you need to do is comment out the $phong line of thext in the vmt file, I don't know if it will work for you guys, but it orked for me, was trying to figure this out for hours, thanks for the help Jack ;)

OK, Here's the thing about materials downloaded from the work shop. SFM prioritizes the folders that it uses. The order of priority is like Usermod, TF_movies, TF then at the bottom of the list is workshop. So SFM will load materials from Usermod before TF_Movies which is before it loads the materials from tf and lastly workshop so if it finds the mohawk in tf_movies the other 2 won't load. This is what is happening to you.

So, you can do one of 5 things for these materials.

1) you can move the workshop folder ahead of TF_Movies and tf (which means that if you have modelsmodels, materials, particles or sounds download that use the same names as game stuff, they'll load first making the game stuff not avaiilable

2) you can make a the required path in usermod or TF_movies and move the downloaded materials there and unsub the workshop stuff (or you'll be bugged to download the stuff again everytime you start SFM.)
Pte Jack  [author] 3 Dec, 2014 @ 6:37am
3) You can create a folder under games and build the pathes and move the downloaded stuff there and give that folder a higher priority and unsub the workshop stuff (or you'll be bugged to download the stuff again everytime you start SFM.)

4) copy the downloaded materials over top of the original materials in the tf materials folder. (One con of overwriting original game files or folders is that if SFM updates, the new materials may be overwritten back to original files by an update.)

or

5) you can give your model an override materials and add a $basetexture to the model and point that to the downloaded materials

All processes mentioned above have their pros and cons.

Hi!
I'm kind of a beginner in SFM and I dowloaded your stuff to color the mohawk (because I was looking forward for someone to create it) but I can't find when I use SFM, what should I do to fix it?
Thanks :3
Pte Jack  [author] 1 Sep, 2014 @ 1:18pm
May be because you still have the original TF materials in your TF folder. Workshop files have a lower priority than tf or tf_movies and their materials load first. Things you can do are rename the original materials in the TF folders to something else, move these materials to your TF folder, create a new folder and place these files in it then add the folder to your gameinfo.txt searchpaths above tf and tf_maovies or place the Game Workshop call in your gameinfo.txt above tf and tf_movies.

any of these solutions should fix your problem.
