It does that in the Prime Remaster on Switch at least! The little "needles" on it get longer and shorter based on the distance between you and what you're aiming at. It's pretty nifty, especially with gauging the range of the Plasma Beam! And yes, the Remaster was my first exposure to Prime. So good.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback a lot, and that you're enjoying the addon. Currently Trilogy Aim persists in the Morph Ball to accomodate Wiimote aiming, since the camera goes pretty crazy if Trilogy Aim is disabled while using a real Wiimote for mouse movement. I can see the value of adding an option for that though, yeah. I'll see if I can put that in for you soon.
I'd also be interested in making the reticle dynamic like it is in the original games, but I'm not very experienced writing fancy rendering code like that 😅 I've also got a pretty vague understanding of what the reticle even does, TBH - this is the first time I'm hearing that it changes based on target distance, that's news to me.

I feel like being in Morphball should disable the Trilogy Aim -- it's a little hard to turn the camera otherwise. But wow, this is good. If you can have the crosshair replicate the original behavior of narrowing/widening based on distance to the target, you're a real hero.

The maps are linked in the videos' descriptions on YouTube, but here are the links here too, for convenience.

Hello! That was in the help-support forum channel of the /r/gmod Discord server. I went and found the link, here's the thread: https://discord.com/channels/204738543707226112/1162066793687429210/1162806840493609051

Hi, you mentioned I had assisted you on Discord, I don't remember this. Did we talk in dms?

Hmm. Are you able to test whether any other Steam games respond correctly to the controller? Without using a preset that translates its inputs to mouse+keyboard - so another game with analog controller support. To be clear though, the basic support for analog stick movement is a part of GMod, not my mod - my mod just polishes up a few quirks and bugs. That is to say, the issue you're having doesn't have anything to do with code I've written, so I don't have much insight and there's not a lot I can do other than provide basic troubleshooting advice.

its completely ignoring my ps4 controller with or without the gamepad template, joystick enabled

You'll need to use the basic Gamepad template, so that the inputs from the controller don't get swallowed up by Steam and turned into keyboard and mouse inputs. GMod itself will do the rest, since it has native support for analog movement from controllers. I've taken two screenshots to indicate where you can find the Gamepad template. Image 1 [cdn.discordapp.com], and Image 2 [cdn.discordapp.com]. Don't forget to enable joystick support in the game's Mouse settings.

how do i properly set up analog movement? every steam input preset just uses wasd conversion (which sucks)
