This is a great mod. Thank you. I always thought that, while it's cool to give everyone their own voice that goes with the country they are from, it is weird that a squad would all be speaking different languages. Assuming that English is the language Xcom is using, it makes a lot more sense to have people just speak English with an accent.

@Dire Wombat In the AML, you have to go to the options to 'unhide' regular XCOM 2. It's under the User interface options. If it still doesn't work, I'm afraid there's not much else I can do.

Also, while I do agree it can be frustrating to having every soldier speaking American English, I can definitely see (from a game production standpoint) why they didn't add more. Having to hire VAs for every regional accent on the planet would probably cut into the development budget like nothing else.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Unfortunately no, the MEC English Redux voices also don't play in vanilla.
Also when I installed the Alternative Mod Launcher, it only gives me the option to launch either WotC or Chimera Squad - vanilla does not appear as a selection.

Bummer! This mod is exactly what I was looking for, maybe someday I'll do a WotC playthru to experience it. It's very odd the base game didn't include better voices.

@Dire Wombat I should say that this mod was built with the WotC SDK. I did this because I was having issues cooking mods on the base-game SDK and thought it would work fine with both versions of the game. The problem you mentioned might be a side-effect of it being cooked with the WotC SDK. However, to be sure, I would do two things:
1. Check if the same thing happens with my other mod 'MEC English Redux'. That mod was also built and cooked with the WotC SDK.
2. Use the Alternative Mod Launcher. It handles mods that were built for specific versions better than the 2K Launcher.

If the same thing happens with the other mod, and AML doesn't change anything, I'll have to list this mod as WotC only.

@Dire Wombat
Does the Preview button work if you click it a couple of times? I seem to remember times when it didn't work but just on the first click.
Dire Wombat 8 Dec, 2023 @ 10:16pm
I don't use that one.

To clarify, the listings appear in the voice selection menu. But they don't play when I preview. The other odd thing is that the source icon to the left of each language name is a broken image. Almost seems like a pathing issue but no idea where I'd fix that.

@Dire Wombat Do you use the Alternative Mod Launcher?

Just FYI - the voices don't seem to work in vanilla, only WotC. Anyone know any tricks to get it working for a vanilla playthru?
boozenpuken 26 Nov, 2023 @ 12:46pm
@XpanD @Ayser I’ve solved the issue, it was as simple as messing about with my output settings on my end. My mistake
XpanD 26 Nov, 2023 @ 2:42am
@boozenpuken Do you have your system set to output surround sound? I get the exact same if I have sound being sucked into a non-existent center channel. (not a mod issue)
Ayser  [author] 25 Nov, 2023 @ 8:11pm
@boozenpuken Unless other people report having the same problem after installing this mod, there's nothing I can do to help you. This is a mod that merely adds new soldier voices. Best I can tell you is to check your voice volume slider or delete your config files.

Not sure why, but I launched the game on a clean save and the character voicelines were nonexistent. Bradford and Shen in the opening cutscene were really muted and echoey with the mission breifing being completely silent. My gatecrasher squad had no voices as well. If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.

very good mod, amazing 10/10
Ayser  [author] 12 Nov, 2023 @ 10:37am
@armbarchris The collection is 630MB. I actually thought about cooking it, but because the voices use Robojumper's voice script, I'd have to remap all the archetypes. It's the one downside to Robojumper's script.

If ya'll really want non-American English-speaking voices, there's also the Dirty Bomb series. Not as, uh, professional as these, but it'll help cover a wider spread of countries, plus more female voices.

Nice.

@Ayser, thanks mate, good to know.

Great idea, Ayser, thank you very much. I'm subscribed to all your three mods. Exquisite work.

(oh I was a bit late)

Voice packs marked for the base game will work in WOTC 99% of the time, if not more. Should be just fine, especially given how recently this mod was released.
Ayser  [author] 7 Nov, 2023 @ 5:39am
@Gardener.J Yes, it was made using the WotC SDK, but every voicepack should work with both no matter what SDK was used. The Voice Patcher support will probably only work if you have WotC though, since that mod requires it.
Gardener.J 7 Nov, 2023 @ 5:36am
Do these work in WOTC?
Mr. Wonderful 6 Nov, 2023 @ 1:27pm
Wonderful and much-needed mod that'll help restore a bit of balance to my ~70% American character pool. Thank you!
Koohan 6 Nov, 2023 @ 9:11am
I love this, thank you so much. it should have been in the base game. An international coalition is supposed to have different accents
XpanD 6 Nov, 2023 @ 5:18am
...well, this sounds amazing. Thanks for making this, definitely gonna give this a spin in my next run. Always nice having more universal voices!
