Who has the time to create an awesome mod? Brainstorm, that's who. This mod is nearly as big as the original Half Life: Alyx. No seriously. The absolute most time I ever spent playing a mod is 3 hours. Half-Life: Zheptics took me 3 weekends. It is the longest mod. A mod with the most carefully thought out puzzles. Combat is difficult but not too difficult. Jump scares at a reasonable minimum. music is off the chart. ambiance is perfect. story and story mechanics that are the best I have ever seen. This mod is an absolute MUST for any fan of VR

Really fun map! The puzzles are interesting, the voice work is great and the set design is amazing. This also contains what might be the most clever use of Jeff in the entire workshop.
Acrophobics beware: you're gonna suffer.
The bomb corridors are a bit aggravating, tho.

Bravo! I might have enjoyed Zheptics more than the base game itself! So cool with entirely new game mechanics and models. Neat to see new things and figure out how they worked the first time! Creative, engaging and fun puzzles (had a LOT of fun in the Labs), and boy was some of that combat hard! Sweaty palms on the final level for sure! I liked this so much, I played through twice (for the also very hard but very neat bonus level!) I have been recommending this mod to everyone who has HLA in their Steam library! I need more please! Had a couple glitches that required a reload of an earlier game save but I think it was because I was saving overly often. 10/10 for sure!

Absolutely phenomenal levels. Lots of creative and fun puzzles and interesting gameplay! Admittedly a bit stingy on ammo after fights. Not the most fun to go through a tough battle that used all of my ammo, and my reward is another fight before I had time to reset. But despite that I loved going through and experiencing the unique maps and concepts. Jeff especially was one of the best uses of him in an addon I've seen ever! This mod took the mechanics of Alyx, and branches them off into some really smart paths. Jeff did so many clever puzzles I wasn't expecting. And I almost like it more than the actual Jeff chapter in some ways!

I just finished playing your campain and I wanted to say i didn't expect it, how much I enjoyed it! The puzzles were extremely clever and engaging, and the art direction was stunning. it all came together to create a truly unique experience. It’s impressive how much thought and creativity went into this.

absolutely amazing mod! 10/10! i have one issue. i saved my pennies and bought the grenade launchet for the shotgun. as soon as i bought it no grenade would attach and i can no longer reliad. it would fire the remaining shots but it wont open to reload. so now the shotgun is useless. i should have reloaded and rebought it but played on thinking maybe next purchase would fix it. latwr bought the laser sight for the shotgun but still nonfunctional. any way to fix it?

Great mod! But I got stuck after retrieving red keycard from Jeff, I can see where to use it but the doors leading to terminal are locked, same as those on opposite side of room anyone can help?

This is amazing, but i have two feedbacks:
1. No usage of flashlight. some parts are really dark.
2. The puzzles are creative but can get annoying when the success is only determined by how good your controller tracks movement. Need machine error compensation.

Sorry to read about your issue. I have no idea, I have no problems with the mod. The train station is not too far from the start: Try reinstalling the mod with all adds needed and start over(?)

Have been loving the mod, but I'm at the train station and the game keeps crashing. I don't think it's my PC as no other mod crashes it (RTX 4090 and i9-1300k). But I did try lowering the fidelity in game, and tried lowering the fidelity in virtual desktop as well as lowering stream bitrate rate and switching codecs. It's right at the point when you get the shotgun. It seems to overwhelm the game and it crashes. Also any manual saves will crash the game. Anyone experience this? Thanks in advance!

I'm probably in a minority. I found the game a little frustrating. Its very well made and runs nicely. Had a couple of bugs but mostly trouble free. I found that there was too many puzzles, just for puzzle sake although they are quite good, they just seemed to be put in places there really wouldnt be a puzzle. Also, there should be some additional auto saves at the end when out running the sun. I got quite a way through and died. Was frustrated to be taken back to releasing the sun. I got ratty with it and turned it off after that.

Regarding my previous comment, I fixed it by entering "ai_setenabled 1" in the console. I had to do it many more times (pretty much every time I reload a save) but it's worth it for this amazing mod.

I was having the time of my life until I died in the wave defense thingy, at which point reloading broke the enemy spawns and I got stuck. Also Jeff's AI broke after reloading the game.

I proudly say that this one could be even better than the HLA Campaign itself !!
The map is huge, with lots of new variants and challenges, the puzzles are very ingenious and the adventure is a blast !!

Just completed this amazing campaign. This is great work, easily on par with the original HLA in terms of creativity and quality. Valve should hire you so you can single-handedly create the long overdue HLA v2!

This is awesome! Absolutely incredible. It really feels like an official DLC. Lots of great, tricky and above all unique puzzles and yes, really tough fights. From time to time I was on the edge of giving up, but it was cool every time I managed to keep going. Many thanks for this fantastic work!

There is actually some logic in this section where I only autosave when the player still has a good chance of winning. From your description it did not really work, but this is hard to analyze without the footage.
I am not sure if i disabled auto-saves throughout this section, but I usually only deactivated it when it was technically needed to. The game can be easily be broken if a manual save is made by the player at a game state where you shouldn't save. The original game also disabled manual saves at those kind of sections.
btw, there is also some auto-adjustment for the enemies you are facing. When the player is too slow, the last wave of enemies are cut.

@Brainstorm Probably a simple fix would be to remove both autosave triggers that occur once the <spoiler>star starts expanding<spoiler>. Maybe it was just my own damn bad luck but I got bit by them 3 separate times where I was autosaved right as the expanding boundary was on top of me. I was dead sure, but I was also dead without a valid save point and had to replay from the beginning of that section. Big whoop I know, but it then turned the encounters from time pressure tense to annoying. Maybe just leave it to the player to quicksave in that section as they desire?

I love this but I'm really stuck at the Jeff level where you need to turn two rotator (3 rooms, with the exit room in the middle). He always comes at me attracted by the noise and it's impossible to time throwing a bottle while throwing it without losing position on the rotator. Is there an easier way than this? Or even a code to get past, it's kinda killing my enjoyment

I can't praise this mod enough, most comments have already said it but this mod is exceptional, there are some really tricky bits in it but all can be overcome with persistence. make sure you don't waste ammo as you will need it at some point :-).
I kept thinking during gameplay "this must be the end" but no there was still more to play.
The next challenge is to find another mod that comes close to the brilliance of "Zheptics", perhaps a tall order but hey no harm in trying.

I have played many mods for Alyx, so many had to work within the bounds of the main campaign - I didn't think it was possible to create new ideas within this game. This has proven me wrong, I really hope to see more addons of this caliber in the future, with different environments and features the base game did not have. 10/10 best mod in the game.

thanks a lot for the job you have done,was a really loong play full of variable,negative comments: when get into the nuclear core etc it started to be very bored,puzzles interesting but to many ,the laser color magenta was not appearing (bug) and had to restart; after the last 4 big mine balls the sphere puzzle to open the vent gate was so difficult and annoing that i was next step to stop playing after probably 30 attempts! , the way to open the door when stucked with "jeff" around the elevator was to through the red key card through the window ( not logical at all,i wasted a lost of time untill i tried that way); some scenarios were amazing,specially the rocks in space and the huge cristal room; hoè my comments helps,thanks again
