The fact that they do not keep manually-assigned ammo is intentional.

The gun is breadboard-controlled. It assigns shells appropriate to its current target.

Intakes are wonky, going into the aps system and having to assign each individual intake is very annoying and they don't even keep the assigned ammo type.
