cuz l4d1 specials also replaces the default mdl files. the l4d1 variant is just a bodygroup that is scripted to appear in l4d1 maps via mission files. they still have the retail models in their files, which is why they will condlict with any jockey mod that replaces the model

I've used this mod for a while now, but I was just playing and when i heard one spawn in, i got like a jumpscare of his face on screen. idk if there was audio im listening to music, but just a flat image of his face on the screen showed up and scared the shit outta me. is this just a really rare easter egg that happens?
