we already chatted via PM. but for everybody else who is reading your comment i would like to add: BG is compatible with orthographic perspective but BG ZSM is not compatible with orthographic perspective mod (see compatibility list of BG mod). since Orthographic Perspective does take different design decisions compared to BG ZSM, i am not going to create a compatch because such a patch would be beyond technical compatibility, it would require removing design features/decisions of one mod or another which doesn't make sense. so for everybody else who is considering to use BG ZSM or Orthographic Perspective together: you have to decide either one or the other. BG main mod is fully compatible with Orthographic Perspective - have fun
secondly if there is really something that was included as a feature within BG ZSM submod and you think you prefer it in a different way, then it would be helpful if you could be more precise (maybe also by sharing some screenshots highlighting what you mean). i would also invite you to join the BG Discord server and/or contact me directly if you want to have a chat about it. i am always open-minded in discussing things with my modding community and explaining the reasoning behind my features or getting some more precise feedback which can also sometimes lead to adjustments for my mods over time.
i am not sure if you meant those mentioned features or if you meant something that was caused by another mod or even by a mod compatibility conflict, but first i would like to recommend to check out the Compatibility List and make sure to run BG and BG submods like BG ZSM only with mods that are mentioned within that compatibility list and which have been marked as compatible or where i provided a compatibility patch.
the only things that BG ZSM submod does change are mentioned within the features list. so, the army interface was not modified by this mod. the 3D army unit models have been rescaled with this mod though. the only kind of UI things that have been changed are map related items like travel markers, movement arrows, border graphics or holding marker circles and such things - just to better fit with the smaller unit/army scaling of BG ZSM submod or for aesthetic purposes. if you mean those things then yes this is how i like to play with BG and what i also wanted to share with the community. if you mean something else i.e. something that is not mentioned within the features list of BG ZSM submod, then the answer to your question is obviously no.
thank you for your positive feedback! i am happy if you like this mod :)
you are welcome and np. i hope i could help :)
3. you could create a local mod and copy paste this mod's content into this local mod and then load this local mod into your mod playlist and deactivate this mod. the downside to this approach is that you won't receive any updates for this mod when it receives an update (because it's a local mod without any connection to steam). so you might have to manually add or replace the files you want from this mod when it receives an update.
2. probably the easiest solution would be to simply remove the border graphic files from this mod, since it doesn't involve any coding adjustments and it's enough to delete the border graphic files from this mod. you can do this by going to SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/1158310/3232842149/gfx/map/borders => delete that folder or all files within that folder. the downside to this approach is that whenever BG ZSM receives an update those files will most likely be downloaded again and put again into this folder. so whenever BG ZSM does receive an update you might have to delete those files (manually) again. usually BG ZSM does not receive updates very often. so maybe it's worth it if you really dislike BG ZSM border graphics.
1. you could load another mod with different border graphics after this mod => if this other mod does also replace the same border graphics files then it could replace this mod's border graphics files. however the downside is that if this other mod doesn't change all graphic files then some border graphics from this mod would remain visible. another downside would be that this other mod could have other files/features that might be incompatible with this mod or another BG mod. so probably this wouldn't be my preferred recommendation. however i can offer that if you want to use another mod with different border graphics then i can check it for compatibility and i can tell you if it's going to work (fully) or not => in that case please use the BG compatibility thread for posting the link to the mod that you want to ask me for a comp. check
first, just for clarification, i would like to mention that BG does not cause a zooming issue. BG just doesn't change vanilla CK3 (= no mods) zooming and this mod does improve zooming and other map related graphic features. i already have to maintain a lot of mods, while i am simultaneously working on new mods. i don't have enough time to provide another subversion of this mod for such a subtle change. that being said, there are many ways how you can remove the border graphics from this mod:
This mod just received a new update with some additional features, like improved sheep and horse map model scaling and slightly improved textures for sheep and horse map models (see features list). This update is fully save-game compatible. Have fun!
This mod was just updated for CK3 1.16 and Khans of the Steppe DLC.
Please note: steam is sometimes not updating mods correctly. If you have troubles with updating this mod correclty, then you might have to unsubscribe and resubscribe to the mod. If that doesn't help then check out the BG Help Service Thread point 3. => how to reset/update mods correctly. Have fun!
i am happy if you like the mod!
making units smaller can either be done by adjusting the gfx/asset files or more broadly via changing the defines files. however, i don't recommend to use smaller unit scaling than this mod does already provide. why? because then units will more likely clip through mountains/hills or other unwanted graphic issues can happen. in addition to that you would then probably also want to adjust the camera/zoom steps too because otherwise you won't be able to zoom in near enough to watch units more closely. now you could think about potentially adjusting the zoom-levels too. but the zoom-levels with this mod are also already at maximum zoom-in without causing issues when having mountains/hills where you would zoom through the map. so long story short: i tried a lot of settings and the settings i chose with this mod do include the maximum zoom-in with maximum downscale without facing potential graphic issues
sorry if this caused any confusion. but both of those mod loading orders are correct. the mod loading order does matter. but in some cases it doesn't matter if one or two comp. patches switch some positions. at this point i would like to mention that this doesn't mean, that someone should switch mod positions without clear instructions because you can be unlucky and have a wrong mod loading order then. but if you find a slightly different mod loading mentioned among my mod descriptions, then this does simply mean both work. however, it's totally fine to ask. i am happy if i can help
In your mod page for "BG Other Graphics: ZSM AGOT Compatibility Patch" you mention the following load order:
Battle Graphics
Battle Graphics Zoom+Scale+Map (required)
Battle Graphics AGOT Compatibility Patch (required if you also use Battle Graphics main mod)
BG Other Graphics: ZSM AGOT Compatibility Patch (= this mod)
But in your mod while "BG Other Graphics: Zoom Scale Map" you mention a slightly different load order:
Battle Graphics
Battle Graphics AGOT Compatibility Patch (REQUIRED if you use BG + AGOT)
Battle Graphics Zoom+Scale+Map (= this mod)
BG Other Graphics: ZSM AGOT Compatibility Patch
Does it matter, where I put Battle "Graphics AGOT Compatibility Patch" in the load order?
so long story short: right now the only mods that i also use with my own playlist are probably my battleground commanders submod together with battleground commanders mod and in the future i might add another mod for some additional MAA portraits called cultural armies II by jimmywhite but i still have to check it's compatibility with other mods of my collection before i am going to do this. so i can't recommend any other mod right now because i don't use that many mods together with my own mod collection.
that said what i can offer is: feel free to join discord and whenever you find a mod that you would like to use together with one of my mods you can always ask me for checking it's compatibility with my mods. however, please keep in mind that even if a mod is compatible with my own mods, it could still be incompatible with other mods you use. so maybe you also want to keep your mod playlist as small as me. your choice though :)
maybe a small recommendation: with my own mod collection i check mods against each other to avoid conflicts in the first place. but since mods can expand through updates over time, there is always some risk for compatibility conflicts over time. therefore usually i try to keep my own playlist as small as possible. i try to only add mods that i personally think i really need or mods that most likely don't conflict with each other. the more mods you add to your modlist the higher the risk for potential bugs or compatibility conflicts.
Simple Graphic Pack and BG Zoom Scale Map are not compatible. By the way Simple Graphic Pack is also incompatible my other submod BG Battleground Commanders.
In addition to that i would like to point out that some files that are included within simple graphic pack are also incompatible with other popular mods (f.e. due to map_modes files). BG ZSM does also include such files that would be incompatible with other popular mods, but i did provide compatibility patches for popular mods when necessary. those comp. patches work with BG ZSM but not with Simple Graphic Pack.
i hope this does help
a new Comp. Patch for MB+ and BG Zoom Scale Map submod was just released. have fun!
the following mods have just been updated for CK 1.15 update, which just released:
1. Battle Graphics (main mod)
2. BG Other Graphics: Zoom Scale Map
3. BG Other Graphics: Battleground Commanders
4. Battle Graphics MHG Compatibility Patch
this covers the main mod + all submods + 1 comp. patch (for MHG). the remaining comp. patches for BG + other mods (i.e. AGOT, EPE MB+, EPE, POD, Shogunate will be updated as soon as those mods that they have been built for have been updated too
so right now i don't have any plans of creating an additional comp. patch for COA Rally Points and BG + BG ZSM + Battleground Commanders. however, i wouldn't mind creating such a comp. patch at some point in the future if you (or someone else) would be willing to maintain it. my main concern is not about the time it needs to create such a comp. patch but it's about the time i need to invest in the future to check if those mods need updates and the time it needs to maintain them into the future. i hope you get my point :)
if you are experienced with modding and if you would want to help, then feel free to add me on steam, or even better join the BG Discord server and let's discuss further details. otherwise i hope for your understanding!
the reason why i didn't include CoA rally points into (3.) was because
a) this would require another additional comp. patch and
b) i already need to maintain a lot of comp. patches and submods, and since my time is limited, i won't be able to provide an endless amount of comp. patches (which also need to be maintained). c) i have read about some issues that some mod users had with that mod and
d) i didn't want to force people to use that mod in case i include it into the comp. patch from (3.)
thank you for your positive feedback! i am happy if you like it!
1. CoA rally points is compatible with BG main mod
2. CoA rally points is also compatible with BG ZSM submod
3. But CoA rally points is not compatible with BG Other Graphics: Battleground Commanders because this mod does include compatibility between BG main mod + BG ZSM submod + Battleground Commanders + Raised Army CoA .. but not CoA rally points.
alright! i am happy if you like it! have fun! :)
everything is possible but it depends on how much you want to modify files. you can't get rid of all the additional changes that have been implemented with this mod by simply deleting some files.
however first of all i would like to point out that most of this mod's changes are clearly connected to each other. so f.e. smaller unit scale does match with smaller travel markers on the map (just an example). when i tested it, it did look odd when you "only" have smaller units without changes that make some other things smaller too.
nonetheless if that's what you want to achieve then i can try to help you out by telling you what you could do. but that's too much to do within the comment section of this mod. feel free to join the BG discord server and contact me there or contact me directly on discord if you want :)
another comp. patch for this mod has been added:
BG Other Graphics ZSM + POD
- also updated mod description incl. mod loading order. feel free to check it out especially if you are using POD or AGOT :)
***
i just added a new additional Comp. patch for BG ZSM Submod and AGOT and i updated the mod description of BG ZSM Submod. You will need to use both mods and follow the mod loading order examples that i provided and then everything should work out fine again for you - have fun :)
thank you very much for your positive feedback! i appreciate it and i am already looking forward to share more battle graphics updates and improvements with the steam community soon :)
with this mod more zoom steps have been added (to zoom in even closer for better visibility of the battle animations). at those zoom steps that are very close the additional army information bar has been hidden. the main reason for me deciding to hide it at those very close zoom levels was that i found out that the information bar on those closest zoom levels that have been provided by this mod and which aren't available with vanilla, would cause the information bar to be disaligned.
when facing the decision to either remove the closest zoom steps or live with a disaligned army information bar or simply remove the information bar just at the closest zoom steps, i decided to remove it at those very close zoom steps in order to keep the closest zoom-in levels for better enjoyment of watching space battles. even though it's not annoying for me while playing, i do understand if you don't like it. maybe i find a better solution or workaround in the future. we will see :)
alright ;)
