Just stupid mistake that made out of unfamiliarity with painted item and it's effect on your game (Close to zero) .
Those are some good points right there, I too would only use paints that actually looks good on the cosmetic. Valve are to blame for adding the Pink/Lime paints into the game to begin with, and i'd hate to see this item's paint region being removed entirely, as there is other paint options that it still looks good with imo.

Water Waders is a nice cosmetic, but i too agree the paint region on that cosmetic is too much. Valve really missed the opportunity to disable its paint region
Also Warmth Preserver's Workshop page shows some differences compared to the version that is currently ingame:
1: The preview images shows that the cosmetic was intended to have paint regions too, but i think the creator stated that Valve told the creator to remove the paint region before they would accept it.
2: The original item seem'd to lack the Team colored upper-part compared to the one we currently have in-game.
