FranGamer<3 7 May @ 1:24pm
De verdad podrias hacer eso? Eliminar toda la basura seria genial, la literatura estaría decente, podrias hacerlo? TE AMO
Monkey Magic  [author] 30 Apr @ 2:16pm
Mmm.

Gracias

@Quilava - This mod gives 1 full tier, and about 10% of the next. If you want it to go faster, enable the XP Multiplier in the sandbox options. The last few levels will still take a while though
Quilava 13 Apr @ 6:38am
Is there any version of this mod but give full 2 level for each tier? I just want to skip reading as fast as i can and just go explore, building stuff, CDDA reading was one i use before, but now it gone for B42 :sad_seagull:
Monkey Magic  [author] 13 Mar @ 6:02am
@CJ187 - The default is no multiplier, so I haven't really checked if it's still working correctly so my bad. TBH, it originally wasn't even part of the design, and was only added back on request. I'll take a look into it, but TBH I don't think that many people even use it.

The mod is meant to provide quicker gains at lower levels, in exchange for slower gains at higher levels. As such, I will not be changing the page settings, they work as intended. The weights correspond to the page size too, you'll note. Book one is essentially a pamphlet, and Book 5 is a huge reference book.

What "other skill book mods" are you talking about? I have already provided patch mods for: Extra Books, Scavenger Skill, Driver Skill, Woodcutting Skill and Lifestyle: Hobbies

EDIT - Tested on vanillia with just this mod enabled. Unable to replicate your anti-cheat issue. I'm guessing it's some other mod at fault.

Like the idea of the mod, that the skillbooks give some kind of skill too and not just a boost.
i want a combination of both, so i set deactivate multiplyer to false.
now i get kicked all time by anti cheat type 15 (XP gain)

Book level 3 gives me, i dont know a boost of x8 and the skill book 1750XP

1750XP x8 = 14.000XP o.O

i would prefer the books stay like vanilla
with 200 pages insteat of 10 for the first book
and the XP gain are minimalistic or customizable.

EG Book level
1 = 220 pages, x3 +15XP
2 = 260 pages, x5 + 20XP
3 = 300 pages, x8 + 30XP
4 = 340 pages, x9 + 40XP
5 = 380 pages, x10 + 50XP

Also, mod is not compatible with other skill book mods.

@Booty-Closet - Well, it's more of a trade off than a nerf. It's much easier to get the first few levels, but harder to get the later ones. Most people aren't worried about maxing out their characters so much as making them viable. This mod helps characters achieve that without being over-powered.

If you think it's too difficult for you, you can always re-enable the multiplier with the sandbox setting.
Booty-Closet 13 Feb @ 4:19pm
correct me if I'm wrong, but this mod is a fairly substantial nerf to skill books right? For example getting level 3 and 4 takes 1050xp. With the 5x bonus from the vanilla level 2 skill book that becomes 210xp worth of player actions, while the 500xp from the modded book would leave you still needing 550xp. The 16x times bonus from book 5 in vanilla means the player needs to earn the equivalent of 1000xp while the modded book leaves you needing another 8000xp to finish level 10.

Thank you Monkey!

@Hawkefire: Updated to include Maintenance books
Hawkefire 23 Jan @ 3:40pm
Also please be sure to update this mod to include the new maintenance books! :spiffo:
Monkey Magic  [author] 22 Jan @ 11:31am
@Kenpachi - I also make mods for 7 Days to Die and World of Warcraft. Check me out on Curseforge as Wyr3d ;)
Kenpa 22 Jan @ 6:15am
I grabbed the patch and noticed you created mods for Rimworld too. You obviously have great taste in gaming.
Hawkefire 20 Jan @ 1:52pm
Honestly the only reason more people don't use it is because there are quite a few skillbook mods out there already.

That said, this ones probably my favorite implementation so fantastic job!
Monkey Magic  [author] 18 Jan @ 12:28am
IIRC, it was for B41, B42 doesn't have MP enabled yet, so iunno
the4skin666 17 Jan @ 11:58pm
is this multiplayer compatible
Monkey Magic  [author] 13 Jan @ 2:32am
@Kenpachi - Thanks. Gotta say, I'm surprized more people don't use this mod. But I guess there's a fair bit of competition, and people like different things.

BTW, be sure to check out the support mod in my workshop, if you're also using Extra Books mod. ^^
Kenpa 10 Jan @ 2:52am
Very cool. Thank you.
Monkey Magic  [author] 9 Jan @ 3:40am
@太弱小了,没有力量 - Yeah, XP is on a per page system with Simple Skill Books which is why I adjusted the pages per book tier accordingly. As such, it really isn't a mod designed to mesh well with other mods that add skill books.

For the one in question, I suppose you could make a patch mod...

EDIT - So, I went ahead and made a patch mod for Extra Books Mod so you can install Extra Books Mod Patch from my workshop, and this will fix the issue. The patch successfully adjusts the new skill books the mod adds to fit in with Simple Skill Books design.

Remember to burn any existing skill books if you plan on adding the patch to an existing save, as the fix is not retroactive. Have fun ^^
太弱小了,没有力量 8 Jan @ 11:05pm
Really love this idea, "why I gain no xp after I read a book?". But it seems like this mod conflicts with extra books mod, will make you gain lots of xp after read even tier 1 book, guess because xp is related to book pages?
Monkey Magic  [author] 5 Jan @ 10:54pm
Please note that while technically this mod can be added to an existing game, any skill books you have already found should be destroyed to avoid issues - I suggest using them as BBQ fuel. New books you find will work correctly.
Monkey Magic  [author] 13 Nov, 2024 @ 8:10am
On a server you should be able to switch the status of the multiplier at any time by opening up the options file. For SP you will probably need something like Star's Change Sandbox Options for anything other than Custom Sandbox
SDS_DUTCHGAMER 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:39pm
can i change it too get xp multiplier in a server after server is up of can i change it mid game
Monkey Magic  [author] 4 Aug, 2024 @ 7:15am
Please note that as this mod has to replace the items_literature file in order to properly award XP per book tier, it is likely incompatible with other mods that attempts to change this file. It should be fine with mods that add new books (most mods do this), so long as they do not alter that file.
suzinistherealjuno 18 Jul, 2024 @ 9:15pm
cool!
Monkey Magic  [author] 18 Jul, 2024 @ 6:19am
I made this mod coz after trying out several different mods for alternative skill book progression - even so far as making a tweaked version of one just prior to this mod - none of them satisfied all the conditions I was looking for.

So yeah, if it don't exist make it yaself, right?
