Thank you

You can start with any number of soldiers you want. The more you do the less likely to see the same soldier again. If you start with 20 soldiers you'll see the same one but with a different class every other mission.

Any reason to build a character pool of 500 besides just wanting them to all start off with appearances you decided upon?
AgRipnus  [author] 10 Oct, 2024 @ 10:53am
It's this mod's doing. This mod clears all items from all slots before it dismisses any soldiers so you don't lose any items. I have not coded the mod to know if some soldiers are on infiltration and thus mustn't have their inventory cleared because they won't be dismissed. I need to fix this in the code.

* utility slot items, bob smith whatever they're called

In LWOTC any time I return from a mission and new units are generated, all my units that are still sent out on infiltration get all their gear slot items taken away. This is unbelieveably frustrating, what scenario or mod combination would cause that?

There's a 1 in 16 chance to get a spark, and a 3 in 16 to get a faction soldier.
horsepowerYT 4 Aug, 2024 @ 6:21am
Cool then ^-^
Does this also work for sparks? Randomized sparks would be crazy!

The game always prioritizes the character pool if your options allow. If you have 3 soldiers in your pool, you'd get those 3 every time, plus 5 random ones. You can get random game generated soldiers if you have no character pool soldiers at all. Either a really large pool or no pool at all works fine.
horsepowerYT 31 Jul, 2024 @ 8:41am
Sucks that it's only the character pool, but this is a very interesting idea, It's like a randomizer, but always constantly shifting.

This seems absolutely awful to play. I'm excited to try it once i git gud on LWOTC!
TheMinotar137 25 Jul, 2024 @ 1:31pm
ok im dumb.,.. theres an option in the rpg mod second options to randomize the skill trees and perks, so yeah this mod will work fine with it, thanks
AgRipnus  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 1:10pm
I don't know to what extent musashis rpg overhaul rewrites things, all I can tell you is that when you go to the training center you usually see a table of perks, this mod picks one perk from each column.
TheMinotar137 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:57pm
you say that it will choose random perks from their skill tree which confuses me, because the rpg mod allows you to choose between 10+ skill trees, so would i be able to choose the skill tree or are the abilites the only random thigs?
TheMinotar137 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:56pm
cool
AgRipnus  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:55pm
This mod will rank up soldiers by buying random perks from their skill tree until they don't have any personal ability points left. If you have a training center and XCOM ability points you can use those to buy more perks, but you don't get to chose the free "upon-Promotion" perks.
TheMinotar137 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:39pm
btw the mod is called musashis rpg overhual
TheMinotar137 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:37pm
well in a sense yes. you can get the soldiers in rewards i know that this mod will allow me to get them, what im curious about is the rpg mod allows you to customize your soldiers between 10+ classes with 100+ perks and when you recieve this class from a mission you can still choose what to specialize them in. what im curious about is if this mod randomizes that or if it will still lt me choose because if it still lets me choose theres no real challenge to it
AgRipnus  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:27am
TheMinotar137, when playing with that rpg mod, can you buy soldiers in the black market with specialized classes? If you can this mod will do the same, it generates soldiers the same way as for the black market.
TheMinotar137 24 Jul, 2024 @ 11:33pm
this looks like a great mod but before i download to try it i need to know... is this mod compatable with the rpg mod? (basically disables all classes except the modded one that gives you the choice of alot of diffrent ways to upgrade soldiers)
AgRipnus  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 11:39am
No, but "WOTC Flawless" offers that and it works with this mod.
MrMister 24 Jul, 2024 @ 11:33am
Is there any reward/penalty for keeping your soldiers untouched or having them wounded?
AgRipnus  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 8:28am
Scrublord. You get new soldiers when you return from a mission. Until you go to the next mission you can do anything with the soldiers you got.
AgRipnus  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 7:37am
Jokerke. The character pool can't tun out, because soldiers are dismissed they will become available to be generated again. So you might see a soldier again at a later mission rerolled with a new class and perks.
If a class is disabled it won't roll it Just like it doesn't for mission reward soldiers.

Squad size is the same, you need a different mod for that. I've set it to 8 so you can take 6 on a mission and have 2 to send on covert actions. If you have a mod that sets the squad size to 8 you'll probably want to edit the config to get 10 soldiers instead.
AgRipnus  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 7:37am
You can get random base game faction soldiers or Sparks from your pool, their class isn't randomised but their perks are. If you don't have any it will still generate random ones. Modded faction soldiers won't be generated because I can't account for all of them.

To the question "Is *insert modded class* supported?", the answer is: Have you ever gotten that class as a reward from a mission or from the black market before? If you have, then it is supported.
Scrublord 24 Jul, 2024 @ 7:36am
Adding to Jokerke's questions, if it does randomize new soldiers, can you add them to the character pool or are they removed before you can?
XpanD 24 Jul, 2024 @ 4:34am
This with Amalgamation and the full set of community specs (like 4000 class combinations) would be pure chaos. Very tempting...
Jokerke 24 Jul, 2024 @ 4:24am
Sorry for the question dump, but...

What happens if the character pool runs out? Does it start over? Does it start generating random soldiers?

Does disabling a class disable it from random generation by this mod?

Is the squad size raised to 8 to include all the soldiers or is it still the vanilla 4-6?

If I have the MEC Troopers mod on, do MEC classes also get assigned to random soldiers or do they need to be a MEC in the char pool too?

Does the random class assignment respect soldier types like faction soldiers and Sparks? AKA: do I only get faction soldiers/Sparks if I have them in the char pool? (Meaning that it is possible to only get Templars if you only have those in your char pool)
RustyDios 23 Jul, 2024 @ 8:53pm
This mod might be better (and compatible with LWotC) if it instead used the PostMission hook to dismiss and create soldiers. Utilising this the correct inventory and loot items should get to the player too, possibly including PCS'es.

Oh! it also likely wouldn't work with my After Action Report Extended mod either (which is a port of LWotC's screen)

Certainly an interesting idea....
AgRipnus  [author] 23 Jul, 2024 @ 5:05pm
This mod uses the same snippet of code as the black market. If a modded class can appear on a randomly generated black market soldier it will work with this.
Bastymuss 23 Jul, 2024 @ 4:51pm
Interesting, any idea how well this would play with things like the big 3 class mods (RPGO, Amalgamation, Proficiency?)
