they will work with the default playermodels, but a lot of addon playermodels with hl2 citizen faces tend to not reference the base game files for the materials so you may not always see the texture replacement on your playermodel.

do these work with the playermodels?

no, I wanted to avoid replacing all of them but if you decompile the addon you can add them to overwrite the group02, group03 and group03m folders

does this affect refugees?
galunga  [author] 3 Aug, 2024 @ 12:55pm
yes, I couldn't make them new models due to issues with my decompiler that would affect the quality of the models

this is a replacement ?

I'm not sure about it since the base hl2 models use an older eye shader and the value name seems to indicate ambient occlusion, but you can always try. If it doesn't do anything you might just have to replace the VTF files with a custom texture instead, I would recommend checking the valve developer wiki to help with any shader info, as I'm not too experienced myself.

Not to be annoying or anything but is $AmbientOcclColor the way to colorized the eyes right?
I'm viewing two examples of a citizen's Green and Blue eyes through VTFedit and Green's line is [0.36 0.35 0.2] while Blue eyes are [0.1 0.1 0.1]? If so then how can I get the values for violet eyes since it follows (probably) the RGB value?

there's two methods, you can replace the pupil material by creating a custom VTF matching the name and directory of the original iris textures (materials/models/humans/male) or (materials/models/humans/female). The second method is to make new models that replace the originals so you can give them a different directory for the eye textures. VTFEdit is how I get my textures and materials into the source engine

Yo how can I edit HL2's Citizen's eye color? Like I want to change it from brown to Violet?
