Usual tunneler mechanoid already has quarry compatibility built in to the mod, at least for 1.5. The proof is in the quarry folder/1.5/biotech/patches as 'patches_mech_tunneler'.

Also this definitely could be done for VFE: Insectoids 2 in a similar fashion
