well ist always the question of balance. I think the mod works nice this way. A early technic boost with chemistry and then a permanent 10% Tech Bonus is really good in my opinion.

OP ? feels like these poor people got a brain slug on them. i'd say too much brain pain. lol

Kai: Thanks for your input! I think I'll just leave it for now since there are some conflicting opinions (is OP, isn't).

If people start to come to me en masse telling me he's OP then I'll consider it.
Kai 2 Nov, 2014 @ 12:24am
I played some games with the other university mod who gives +20% science. In my case Zakharov was not OP at all and in the end your morgan and me (as lady sky) have been the most advanced civs.

Foxy420: Yeah some people have said 5% Science so I might drop it down, because they still get the Chemistry tech free which is a big advantage. Thanks for your input :)

Might want to tone down this faction science to around 5% which is much higher then anyone else. I played a few games against him, he killed everyone.. shouldnt be this OP is my point, if I play as him Im far out in the lead.. Love the Gaia faction, I use it most of the time but Stepsons instead of daughter lol (Foxy Skye to be silly like I am :P)

Kai: You do make a good point. Once I'm done the Human Hive faction I'll look into some of the bonuses for the all of the civs and think about how I can make their bonus affect them for the whole game instead of just giving them a bit of a boost at the start (mainly the free techs but the +##% are also a bit dull unimaginative in some cases, mainly with the random negative health penalties).
Kai 30 Oct, 2014 @ 4:27am
Like i already said regarding your gaians Mod: Flat Boni might fit the Civ, but are boring and don´t give you a unique gaming experience. The same goes for free techs: Everybody can have them after a little research, so they don´t add anything special.

Something like "every science building does something" or/and "every specialist gives two science (maybe in addition to the free chemistry tech)" could add a little more flavour.

Any time :) I'm just glad I can still play SMAC
rywh  [author] 29 Oct, 2014 @ 4:13pm
Satdanov: Reading the wiki it seems you're right. I'll look into changing it, but I'm not totally sure if I'll be able to, thanks for the heads up though :)
Robo-Pig 29 Oct, 2014 @ 3:13pm
Hey, wait, I just wanted to point out tthat the University had a penalty toward defending their cities from spying, not spying by itself. Or I'm wrong, but either way, it would be better for gameplay if other players could suck more intrigue out of you than vice versa. Anyway, thanks for making this, and I hope I'm not asking too much.
Buntkreuz 29 Oct, 2014 @ 11:07am
dont mind it, it was obvious i just wanted to make fun of it ;o)
Carnwulf 29 Oct, 2014 @ 10:05am
Youre welcome. I cant mod, but i really apreciate the hard work of modders like you. Thanks a lot for making awesome mods possible!
rywh  [author] 29 Oct, 2014 @ 9:14am
Good thinking Carnwulf, I changed it to 10% and I'll update it in just a couple hours. Thanks a lot for the help!
rywh  [author] 29 Oct, 2014 @ 9:13am
NemesisZidar: Yeah sorry about that lol, the dashes "-" are supposed to be the list bullets. I changed it though so you shouldn't have any more confusion :)
Carnwulf 29 Oct, 2014 @ 8:42am
I personally would think that +10% might be resonable. Its like having the first science virtue (forgot its name) without any restriction regarding the health. I think this would be not to strong and not to weak.
Buntkreuz 29 Oct, 2014 @ 8:11am
-+15% Science....now what, is it now - or +? And - - 25% Intrigue...- and - = +
That is NOT good. ;o)
Robo-Pig 29 Oct, 2014 @ 7:26am
Looks good :)
rywh  [author] 29 Oct, 2014 @ 7:19am
Thanks, I'm just about ready to publish the next faction, the Spartan Federation.

I could lower it more, to 10% or 5% or so. I don't want to lower it too much but I don't know if +1 Science every 10 Science (10%) or every 20 Science (5%) would be better.
Carnwulf 29 Oct, 2014 @ 6:02am
but of course as an old alpha centauri player i like your idea of making sponsors like in alpha centauri. ;)
Carnwulf 29 Oct, 2014 @ 6:01am
i don´t feel this is balanced. Compare that with the slavic federation. They also get one free tech and +20 percent orbital unit lifetime.

And here it is like one free tech and +15% Science production. the -25% covert ops are painful but i feel still 15% science and -25 covert ops together ist still way better than 20% orbital unit lifetime. So in comparison to the vanilla factions it is still op.
rywh  [author] 29 Oct, 2014 @ 4:46am
Alright I added the -25% to Covert Ops intrigue and reduced the Science to +15% to hopefully balance it out a little bit.
Carnwulf 29 Oct, 2014 @ 2:41am
+25% Science is super OP. Free Science and maybe +5% Science would be allright.
rywh  [author] 28 Oct, 2014 @ 7:55pm
I've added the Covert Ops penalty back in (-25% Intrigue), and I'll update the mod in the morning just in case something goes wrong.
rywh  [author] 28 Oct, 2014 @ 7:07pm
I was considering it before, I'll look at it again.
Robo-Pig 28 Oct, 2014 @ 6:56pm
Zharakov was one of my favorites :) But he should have a penalty for Covert Ops like he did in SMAC
Arakus 28 Oct, 2014 @ 3:37pm
Much to OP!
Kovac 28 Oct, 2014 @ 2:13pm
cool beans
