welp. guess this mod is dead then.
Siveen  [author] 12 Jul @ 5:12pm
Unfortunate. Feel free to let the usual people know that this project is up for grabs. I can't be arsed to deal with Rimworld modding to be honest, Paradox Script is enough of a headache for my life <3
Playground Co. 12 Jul @ 5:03pm
@Siveen It seems to work for boats, but not pawns or cars.
Siveen  [author] 12 Jun @ 5:05am
Someone go check if this works on 1.6.
HummingBeard 8 Jun @ 7:40am
same as @thesoupiest said. having a Medieval Drawbridge would be epic for a Pure Medieval Playthrough.
thesoupiest 16 Apr @ 10:33am
Medieval options?? I would kill for a proper drawbridge over a moat!
G-Fiti 15 Jan @ 12:28am
Also would be cool if they didn't block line of sight, can't shoot someone who is right across on the other side as of now!
G-Fiti 12 Jan @ 10:36am
Is it somehow possible to make raiders ignore the bridges? They like to attack raised bridges but destroying them doesn't help them cross the water anyways lol
MajorityOfTheInternet 7 Jan @ 6:16am
why does every time i try to open the bridge, it doesn't let ships pass, and when it does my pawns and animals get pathfinding errors?
WorldWarGamingII 16 Dec, 2024 @ 9:10am
The D Type Gunboat from Rimthunder Lake Ladoga works though, so at least the bridges themselves work.
Siveen  [author] 15 Dec, 2024 @ 9:53pm
I have just tested it, and the Caravel was able to fit just fine through the bridge. There must be another tile blocking pathing or a mod incompatibility.
WorldWarGamingII 15 Dec, 2024 @ 5:11pm
Even with the chaining is still doesn't seem to work. Would I need to chain 3, I only have 2 chained right now?
WorldWarGamingII 15 Dec, 2024 @ 4:47pm
Ah sounds good, yeah some people can miss the most obvious solutions.
Siveen  [author] 15 Dec, 2024 @ 4:40pm
You would be surprised about some people.

You are reminded that the Caravel is 4*7 in size. It would not fit through the bridged area either way, bridge or no.

Did you know that you can chain multiple Bridges together? It looks a bit jank but it totally works from a technical standpoint.
WorldWarGamingII 15 Dec, 2024 @ 4:05pm
Yes, why would I not have
Siveen  [author] 14 Dec, 2024 @ 11:42pm
Have you tried raising the bridge?
WorldWarGamingII 14 Dec, 2024 @ 11:29pm
The Caravel from Alpha vehicles Age of Sail is unable to go under the 5x6 Bridge. Is there anything that can be done?
hell0 30 Nov, 2024 @ 3:18am
can you put traps while it's lowered? What happens to the pawns on the bridge if it gets raised?
Jimmy 10 Nov, 2024 @ 7:16pm
would there be any issues with adding this to a 1.4 save file?
Wireshock 8 Nov, 2024 @ 6:53am
Unfortunately, this cannot support ox carts.
Lithographer 4 Nov, 2024 @ 12:03pm
any chance of adding/changing them to look like the one in the workshop icon? a bridge that when down doesn't block line of sight (for those using CAI5000) and more importantly projectiles. (also low tech primitive version for those medieval goblins out there) could make them like need two pawns to open/lower, would be neat. thanks.
Xenomorph 15 Oct, 2024 @ 10:15am
i can finally live out my dreams of making a castle
Caz 3 Oct, 2024 @ 1:25pm
We need a LOT more mods like this. I'd love to see drawbridges for multiple tech levels, but I know that art assets are the biggest roadblock on that. Wish I could do art, I'd be super happy to help with that, but alas stick figures are my limit.
csfireworks 1 Oct, 2024 @ 5:26pm
great mod !!!!!!
Peryn [Андрій] 29 Sep, 2024 @ 8:47am
Unfortunatly, this car cannot enter this bridge. Any fix?

Fantastic idea. What happens if I'm on an island and deep water is preventing anyone from reaching it, except for the drawbridge? Will enemies attack it? That'd be very stupid if they do :D
panzerman98 26 Sep, 2024 @ 12:38am
I just have the 2x6 bridge unlock, is it normal ?
Omnires 25 Sep, 2024 @ 9:25pm
I'm not saying you should do this or anything. Just throwing out this idea for a counter to people who build things across small rivers or otherwise unpathable areas of a map. But same drawbridge tech can also be added to vehicles. Just look at things like the M60 AVLB, the armoured vehicle-launched bridge.

As some people do play with map mods that add things like lava fields and other environmental hazards that ether can't be walked on or should be avoided do to effects like taking damage when on the tile.

Again nice mod. Having a river city is a bit more realistic now.
Drasca 25 Sep, 2024 @ 6:47pm
YES THANK YOU! This is exactly what I needed in my current playthrough
cerhio 25 Sep, 2024 @ 5:49pm
Could we use this as a moat?
Siveen  [author] 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:59pm
Currently, the plan is to flesh out the existing bridges. They are still missing proper resource costs and power requirements and I want to experiment a little bit more with them.

If there are any artists that want to contribute medieval sprites, they are welcome to come have a chat with me.
Bordak 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:57pm
oh mannn could u add a wood plank version this would be sick for us medieval players lol either way sweet idea
UyTheo 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:56pm
are there plans for medieval/wooden ones?
Siveen  [author] 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:20pm
Only two-sided ones at this time.
Flockerkill 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:14pm
Are there only drawbridges with parts on both sides, or are there also single sided ones, like on the medieval castles
Omnires 25 Sep, 2024 @ 1:15pm
Now building a base on an island in the middle of a large river can have tactical use without blocking the waterway between the inland and open sea. While also keeping those sightstealer raid out of my base when I send the adult fighters away.
Autismus Maximus 25 Sep, 2024 @ 12:20pm
great idea but it looks incredibly ugly, i suggest asking someone to do a retexture
MonkeyMummyMoney 25 Sep, 2024 @ 5:51am
Realistically you could do a Medieval version of the mod as well. Instead of Steel, they're made of wood. They raise and lower slower then mechanical ones, can be set on fire, have a lower amount of health and require a pawn there to physically raise and lower it.
Salad Snake 25 Sep, 2024 @ 5:00am
logically it'll need power. You could have it require like 10k watts when operating but use like 10w at all other times, for balance purposes. People would need battery installations to run them which adds strategy and nuance to how they are positioned and also adds some extra "story-ness", such as if there were to be a solar flare just as you were preparing to cross to escape a manhunter pack, idk. It's tempting to just make it simple and easy to use with no downsides but that often results in very simple and unfulfilling mechanics. Basegame rimworld has hundreds of examples of tiny minutia that can compound and make every situation and circumstance into a unique story.
IVANko 25 Sep, 2024 @ 4:57am
Damn, that's a great thingy
Latex Santa 25 Sep, 2024 @ 12:44am
Very cool idea.
Siveen  [author] 25 Sep, 2024 @ 12:20am
Starting to think about proper costs for this now. I was thinking normal steel bridge cost+3 per tile, and also 4 components. How do people feel about this?
Appolyon 24 Sep, 2024 @ 4:43am
I've waited for this for a while, big thank you
JumboViking 24 Sep, 2024 @ 12:20am
ignored this at first because there is no Cover image. but its a good mod
Almandine-17 23 Sep, 2024 @ 9:42am
This is awesome. Instant perma add to my modlist
Salad Snake 22 Sep, 2024 @ 1:29pm
That's awesome. people probably aren't clicking it because the image file is broken. I usually ignore mods without any attached image file because they're low effort.
CrackaJack 19 Sep, 2024 @ 7:52am
sick
