I'd say zombie survival maps have always had good environment, Imagine a map so detailed it tells stories. Almost like how Ready Or Not does so.

Without a console log I'm not sure what else to offer. There was a point I needed to reduce the number of decals in the map and I only got errors concerning that when I flew over the map and could see all of it at once, but I don't get that anymore after cutting back on the number of them.

Interesting. Not sure. Hadn’t heard of anyone having any issues like that before uploading it to the workshop and this is now the second time I’m hearing that.

There’s not much I can suggest when at least 1,000-3,000 people haven’t had the issue. Disabling addons is the first thing that comes to mind, but you’ve already tried that. I’d maybe recommend disabling HDR (mat_hdr_level 0) but I seriously doubt that’d do anything other than make your game look terrible—I’d keep it at 2.

Verify integrity of game files? Perhaps unmount other games and try then?

On the server I play on there were many complaints made regularly about its design respecting gameplay, though I very much liked the map for its layout and aesthetic. Wanted people to pick if more often so I made the gameplay adjustments then went wild with the aesthetic changes.

I can say that historically Valve have been highly supportive of user-generated content, as IIRC a large part of the team that produced Half-Life was comprised of Quake modders hired for their work they'd posted on modding forums online. They don't exactly have a history of going after the "little guy" (unless you're a the "little guy" that hacks Valve and leaks the Half-Life 2 beta). If you ask me, most of this exists to set legal precedence in the event Valve needs to combat any sort of large-scale, harmful operation I haven't exactly seen the likes of yet (or can't remember).

It's relatively clear to me that the general sentiment is the redistribution of their content for free and for the purposes of modding their games or modding existing mods of their games isn't of any concern to them. It's claiming their assets as your own or reselling them as your own product that they're keen to dispute.

I'm certainly not the first to do this. Regardless, the reality is that the small collection of assets included are in no manner a sufficient substitute for any Valve product, and I would perhaps even argue that using them in this manner could be viewed as producing free advertising for Valve.

I believe it's technically against the Steam Subscriber Agreement (SSA), but so is 95% of the content on the Garry's Mod workshop. Virtually anything you see on any server or workshop addon that's custom content is in violation of the SSA now. The closest citation I can give in support of it would be Section 2.C , License to Use Valve Developer Tools , or perhaps Section 2.D , License to Use Valve Game Content in Fan Art .

I had a question for you, when you say the HL2 and CS:S are packed with it, you mean all the models and materials used are already included in the workshop file right? I'm making a gamemode which uses TF2 and HL2:E2 assets and I feel it would be better for me to pack in the few things I'm using (literally just 2 projectiles and the medkits) but I haven't gotten a clear answer on whether or not packing the models into my gamemode would be allowed on the workshop or not.
