Is there a way to see how much time is left in mercenary contract or varangian gaurd? I seem to be able to just leave my mercenary captain's band without consequence
XJ-9  [author] 16 Jul @ 10:52am
@kharnthebetrayer Should be fixed now
kharnthebetrayer 16 Jul @ 10:44am
I don't understand what's the matter though - i have the "opressed culture" modifier and there's my culture provinces in the realm that have negative opinion.
kharnthebetrayer 16 Jul @ 9:52am
Can't create populist or peasant factions. Button and interaction simply doesn't work.

- Mod updated to the newest version
New content has been postponed in favor of updating the mod to be 1.16 compatible
XJ-9  [author] 29 Jun @ 12:59pm
@Barracuda I'll look into AGOT compatibility specifically after updating the mod to the latest patch
Barracuda 27 Jun @ 2:10pm
There seems to be a minor incompatibility with AGOT. You are unable to stay as a knight for a lord even when you switch to that lord and force your unlanded character in the knight manager.
Using Mod List:
Debug Toggle (Less Invasive),
A Game of Thrones,
Real Freedom - Really Landless,
Bum to God: Rags to Riches - RTP.
KylerKhan 23 Jun @ 6:47pm
Yeah it'd take a lot to get that stable
XJ-9  [author] 23 Jun @ 11:27am
@KylerKhan testing proved prolonged sessions with the actual lowborn ""dynasty"" causes many issues and errors, and it will often crash the game after a while
KylerKhan 22 Jun @ 6:02pm
Oh thanks for the response lad! I wanted to ask cause I know the mod "Really Landless" (really similar mod, allows you to switch to courtiers to play as) actually allows you to switch to a landless character as well and it manages to keep the lowborn completely when you switch to one, but not create one, guess creating a low born character is too much for everyone and would take a lot of work to get around. Once again thanks for the response
kharnthebetrayer 22 Jun @ 10:16am
Hello there, don't want to nag or bother, but how's the update going?
XJ-9  [author] 22 Jun @ 6:38am
@KylerKhan Being an actual lowborn crashes the game, so I made a “lowborn” dynasty with mechanics so it acts functionally the same as an actual lowborn
KylerKhan 21 Jun @ 3:54pm
Hey love this mod! I just wanted to ask if you are able to work on it again could we actually be Lowborn and not just Dynasty with a Lowborn in the middle of it?
XJ-9  [author] 3 Jun @ 8:32am
I'll be able to start working on updating the mod for the newest version soon, but I won't have time to work on new features for quite a while still.
Lil' Remi 22 May @ 4:25pm
Does this mod support multiplayer?
XJ-9  [author] 14 May @ 9:03am
For those who are wondering, I am not able to work on the mod and won’t be able to for some weeks due to the lack of free time ATM.
FunGaming44 30 Apr @ 12:51pm
I know it aint updated just saying, they changed something that now causes to crash if you play with like a mayor
XJ-9  [author] 30 Apr @ 12:02pm
@FunGaming44 The mod isn't updated yet, probably something to do with that..

As usual, you should avoid using a mod if it not up to date, because it is very likely that something in the new patch broke the mod's features
FunGaming44 30 Apr @ 10:15am
your mod runs into the same issue as mine, when you try to play as like a baron / mayor and turn the time back on then game crashes immediatly. I'm looking for what is causing it if i find out i let you know
Coocoodas 20 Apr @ 6:54pm
That's my(and chatgpt's) best guess based on crash logs but sometimes I do end up getting the title becoming a count. When Petty King of Wessex (my master Alfred's liege / brother) gives out his titles to fit the demense limit, the game crashes.
XJ-9  [author] 20 Apr @ 10:37am
@Coocoodas Does being granted a title crash your game?
Coocoodas 20 Apr @ 1:24am
'Escape from prison' interaction has no cooltime when you fail. You can just repeat it infinitely until you escape. I think there should be a year cool time?
Coocoodas 19 Apr @ 8:10pm
Yeap, I can confirm that it is probably the known issue in the mod

Game can crash if titleless player inherits a vassals title - Not much I can do on this front, this is a paradox issue. Currently have a workaround that should prevent most cases of this (by switching the player character on inheritance), although there might still be some crash states left

Since there is no way of knowing when inheritance happens, I guess I can avoid it by waiting for half a year when you begin the game so that the AI finishes giving out titles before you become a slave.
Coocoodas 19 Apr @ 6:28pm
My petty king keeps giving my slave character a county at the beginning as I'm playing a high stewardship for the first time lol What's worse it leads to crashes from time to time.
Coocoodas 18 Apr @ 6:54pm
I wouldn't mind this location too much if I can get rid of 'oppressed culture' modifier but it sticks with me forever even after achieving nobility. Could you remove this modifier once you proclaim nobility?
Coocoodas 18 Apr @ 3:01am
Update: I re launched CK3 10 times and was able to choose my master in 2 out of 10 occassions, 8 being completely random under the exact same circumstances as an adventurer. It seems so random and inconsistent.
Coocoodas 17 Apr @ 10:34pm
Hey, I've been restarting a new game as an adventurer, and I keep getting dislocated to elsewhere despite being in the capital city in the primary title location of the liege. Tried created your own adventurer with Earl Alfred in 867 and his liege Aethelred the Wessex king and both times I got dislocated to Spain or France upon choosing to be a slave.
Coocoodas 17 Apr @ 10:04pm
For anyone encountering similar issues,. you can use this sub-mod to compliment Bum to God; seems to work for me.

Coocoodas 17 Apr @ 7:46am
I've tried to go mayor route this time and found that it's impossible to continue playing. There is only 1 barony in the entire British isles in 867; all the others are cities. When you purchase a city, you get a game-over upon death since it cannot be inherited by your child. When you fight an independence war against your liege and win, you go back to being a mayor because baron-level cannot have a liege outside of the county. When you use a claim war to take your liege's title, you become a republic, which means you still get a game-over upon death.

Could you perchance allow players to construct a castle in the same vein of 'purchase barony' interaction? I think you can do something similar in vanilla as an adventurer with a architect trait, but it would be nice if we could do this as a courtier noble instead of purchasing cities in this mod. Going through baron tier before becoming a count is really fun but this scarcity of baronies hardly make it accessible.
XJ-9  [author] 16 Apr @ 8:55am
@Grymogen That would need a compatibility patch -- I'll get around to creating one for AGOT at some point.
Grymogen 16 Apr @ 2:20am
Almost works with AGOT - except everyone's flipping to House Seniority succession, and peasant factions have gone wild
Swiss_Spetsnaz 14 Apr @ 11:03pm
Can it be that if you play as baron the AI choose for you the spouses? I played as unmarried baron, started as landless. After a while I became a wife without any action from my side.
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 6:03pm
@xj-9 99% of times, I've been playing a 0 year old that cannot be an adventurer but that's a good tip when I start as an adult. Thanks for quick updates as usual!
XJ-9  [author] 14 Apr @ 5:53pm
@Cocoodas You can just select a ruler, create an adventurer and give away titles, without needed to replace anyone.
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 5:50pm
As for the master's capital, I try to put my first custom character under a count because I do not want to replace important characters like petty kings when starting out in England for example. Even when I start out by replacing the same character in day 1 sometimes I get dislocated, sometimes not. I can't imagine my character being out of location on day 1 for example when I create my character replacing Kingdom of Mercia's count on day 1 in 867 start since all other conditions are the same. I will see if I can find the reason for the inconsistency.
I initially tried to create by character replacing barons or mayors using c key at the start screen but found that doing so will somehow not revoke your 'dynasty' so even if you become a slave you don't become a lowborn.
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 5:44pm
Even if you take shorter interval into consideration (like 1.5 year? some quests are done faster), you still fail many of them. So I would say 2 or at most 3, sound better, with the quest distance being limited. I think the best balance is ensuring you reach level 5 in your second service, but not before or after (the main point of advancement is the rewarded item, right?) BTW 'quest disappearing' mostly happens when you fail the quest.
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 5:34pm
@xj-9 I think it is too grindy. Normal mercenary content is what you do when you are a peasant before you are able to establish your own or buy properties, right? Some quests send me to India from Spain taking 6 years to complete (and I failed it lol) I think it would be a lot more manageable with 2 successful quests per advancement and quest distance being limited. Since there seems to be 1 year cooldown between quests, in average it takes about 2 years for a quest and you can always fail it. That means reaching level 5 takes (2x4)+1(initiation)= 9 years when you succeed every quest and it takes 2 to advance one rank, so in most cases you will only reach rank 2 when you serve 2 times (20 years) in one merc company.
Gilgamesh 14 Apr @ 3:06pm
Great Mod
XJ-9  [author] 14 Apr @ 12:18pm
- Inheriting a Mercenary Company will now establish an adventurer band.
- Barony price reduced to 500 hold
- Property base price reduced to 50 gold
XJ-9  [author] 14 Apr @ 11:00am
@Coocoodas
Who becomes your master depends on what ruler's capital is in your exact location.
If your location is not a capital when you select "Slave", the master will default to a random ruler if such person is not found.
XJ-9  [author] 14 Apr @ 10:52am
Update:
- Order members will no longer be targeted by slavers
- Fixed another edge case of being unable to take quests
- Fixed price inconsistency for declaring nobility
- Adjusted land prices : County - 1k gold, Barony - 550 gold.
XJ-9  [author] 14 Apr @ 10:51am
@Cocoodas Currently, you should be able to gain one rank for 4 successful quests
Do you feel like this is too grindy still?
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 5:12am
One more thing: You are forced to bribe for nobility title even when it is not required. I have +13 positive modifiers(3 opinion, 10 cultural proximity) against -10 basic reluctance but I am defaulting to 'bribe with gold' option, increasing the cost from 150 to 250 unnecessarily. When you have 'less' than 250 gold, you are not required to do it with a bribe, allowing you to purchase nobility with only 150 gold as long as you have positive modifiers.
Coocoodas 14 Apr @ 4:36am
Could you also look at the promotion speed in a mercenary group? I had a very lucky run where I succeeded every quest in a merc for 11 years and I was still in the 2nd rank (novice) after 11 years. The captain is rank 6 and there were 3,4,5th ranks to go through. I don't know if sticking around for dozens of years further is really worth it. 11 years of success sounds pretty good records for one to stay at a novice rank.
Coocoodas 13 Apr @ 11:47pm
Also I am having an issue of my custum created count-turned-into-a-slave(0 year old) starting at a random position instead of the character you gave your titles to becoming your lord like in the old version. I wanna start in England and find myself in Spain, Italy, Germany, etc. This feels really inconsistent since I've been able to choose the starting location in the past without a problem.
Coocoodas 13 Apr @ 9:41pm
Start quest menu disappearing happened even after I restored it using debug console. In one instance where I had to duel after a failed diplomacy challenge, I chose one of the dueling options and the quest stopped there without further event popups, and the start quest disappeared forever again.

Using the cheat somehow sent me to somewhere near Germany and I now had an option to 'leave court'. My newborn daughter was born under that location's liege, not my merc captains. When I quit merc service, my character teleported to the end of the map near india. The 'start' quest' options disappeared everytime after I used it once even after resetting with two console commands you taught me.
Zilberman 13 Apr @ 12:22pm
if my character dies in a mercenary army, my heir cannot leave it
Coocoodas 13 Apr @ 9:41am
That's great to hear! That sounds like quite a lot of work. I hope this mod gets more attention it deserves.

I've just come across an issue of 'start a quest' disappearing after I failed my first quest as a mercenary. Here's the screenshot.

2.

Something I forgot to write in my feedback: I personally am using 50 gold for property, and 25 for bribery to purchase property when it is needed, so the cost is either 50 or 75 from 100 or 150 which are the current values. Since asking someone to pay for a hook is typically less than 25, paying 25 instead of using a hook sounds like a reasonable adjustment from paying 50 in addition to the ratio.

@Cocoodas
Thank you for the balancing suggestions, they have been really helpful in getting the gameplay feel just right, as I don’t play the game that often my self.

That being said, the next update will come with an expanded job system, and more ways to make money, where different jobs can establish different guilds at the end of their trees
(The beggar tree i.e, will go up to “Slaver”, allowing you to establish a slaver’s guild adventurer camp)
