Great!

@Draky

How did your fix it?
Fujiro 12 Jul @ 5:44am
is this mod compatible with Fort maps mod
Chase Mate 6 Jul @ 9:57pm
Not sure if your mod causes this... but I am now De Syncing with my bro after playing consistent campaign for awhile. I'm wondering since your update if maybe that's been causing us issues. It's always on Nekhari Keeper of Secrets battle. I can go through other battles just fine up until him and it always desyncs. Could this be the battle weather mod conflicting post battle. As in loading up values inconsistently?
Draky 5 Jul @ 4:07am
@John Matrix

Guessed as much, thanks. Ive actually restarted the campaign with a diff LL and the crashes went away.

Btw on a different topic would you consider making the wood elf siege defence map brighter?

It's soo dark it's genuinely hard to play on it imo. And it's not my gamma/monitor. Game's gamma's default, monitor gamma has been Lagom'd

@Espritviril`` Thanks for the kind words! However there is no real way to tone down just a specific fog value through MCM im afraid. Vampire corruption has 3 different possible environments in addition to the natural nights of the area. Only one of these is the foggy daytime map, shrouded in vampiric mist. You shouldn't be encountering it all too much. I will take a look though if it needs some tuning, though i have already toned down the fog in this environment in the past.
John Matrix  [author] 4 Jul @ 7:43am
@Renegade Rabbit Thanks! I have toned down the wind quite a lot in one of the latest updates, i won't be toning it down more, sorry! However, wind is not too common, so you shouldn't really be encountering it all too much unless you're being unlucky with RNG.
John Matrix  [author] 4 Jul @ 7:42am
@Draky I definitely think my mod has nothing to do with it. I've been using it for years now (before publishing it) and i've honestly never crashed. Also, you're the very first user that reports a similar issue. The only crashes it can cause is after a major patch with DLC, when CA adds new Quest Battle maps to the game and i don't update the db table, the game crashes on launch. The mod itself changes very "minor" things pertaining to the game files, no way it would cause a crash during a campaign, let alone while on the campaign map. Must be some other issue i believe!
Draky 4 Jul @ 2:06am
Okay so this is weird, but after installing this and playing for 10 hours by game has crashes like 3 times during random things, loading screens, clicking on events, etc. Previously played 10 hours with the ult lighting mod on the same patch and hasnt crashed ones, and i dont recall tw wh games crashing at all for me before. My PC's fine

Any ideas? Could the mod have brought up the crashes even on the campaign map?
Renegade Rabbit 29 Jun @ 1:55pm
I love the mod, but I frequently notice that the strong winds on many maps practically make my gunpowder mods redundant what with how fast the powder clouds get blown away. Is there a way to lessen this effect somewha?
Vedat Çölgeçen 28 Jun @ 10:52am
Update pls
半场开香槟 28 Jun @ 7:45am
The tunnel where the rats were intercepted was too dark to see
Espritviril`` 23 Jun @ 9:19am
Agreed with Loki. I love the mod its gives a lot of needed flavor, but I feel that in empire fights against the vampires are too foggy.

Is there a way to turn down the fog? A MCM menu to keep few options would be nice.
Loki 19 Jun @ 2:20am
Hey, great mod. On Vampire maps in shadows I can´t see my units because it´s to dark. The other parts where there is more light trough the moon are okay. Any solution to that issue?
John Matrix  [author] 17 Jun @ 10:47am
@Khazukan Kazakit-ha! i have no noticeable effect on my performance on my end.
Khazukan Kazakit-ha! 16 Jun @ 5:03pm
does this mod affect performance at all?
any fps drops when your mods are used?
John Matrix  [author] 10 Jun @ 10:42am
@ThePupPeTmAsTeR The Empire weather is inspired by its RL counter part but warhammerized to how i'd imagine it should be. It's obviously also based on how the weather is always described in the lore. Currently, it cycles through 13 possible environments, 3 nights and 10 days. Its generally always cloudy and/or foggy with possibly rain (heavy or light), some snowfall or no weather effects. You can check the first screenshots of the gallery for a variety of different Empire weathers. You can get the sun in the sky but its still always partially cloudy. You will never have sunny clear skies in the Empire. You will find plenty in Bretonnia or the Badlands though.
John Matrix  [author] 10 Jun @ 10:42am
@DastFight Corruption on battle maps is engrained in the game, there's no way to remove it. The only way is manually modifying every single weather file for each corruption type for every singlemap. But considering the way i did this mod, which is entirely based around the single override files and not the "main" weather files, thats is a huge amount of work.
ThePupPeTmAsTeR 9 Jun @ 8:48pm
Does it always rain/fog in empire settlement maps, or do they have sunny weather as well?
󠀀 4 Jun @ 1:04am
And you,my friend,are a true hero!
DastFight 3 Jun @ 1:57pm
Juat curious, is there any way to remove the corruption on battle maps? It’s just the bane of my existences. Tried it several times myself, but no luck so far. Don’t know where to look anymore. I tried to find the function, rather than edit the weather files though
Doomnayer 22 May @ 11:50pm
@John Matrix: I "only" copied Day_Clear_1 to Night_Clear_1, then 2 to 2, cloudy to cloudy, and then one titled Ostankya something. After playing for a few days its has been very satisfying (to me). I still get a few dim battles but overall, perfection.
I think the problem is, while variety is inherently good, players have zero strategic means to decide what weather they want to play/see. It makes equal sense that vampire want to fight at night but humans want to fight them at day, so.... Well, accept my heartfelt appreciation for your work. I feel fortunate being able to work upon what you have built.
BlackDragon2601 21 May @ 9:53pm
Hi John. The Wooded Parts of Battle Maps, dont seen any Wood Elf Settlement so far. I'm curious to see what effect the update will have now. Thanks for your work.
John Matrix  [author] 21 May @ 3:32pm
Night Environment Update:
Been doing a second pass to all my night environments, trying to find the correct balance of brightness whilst retaining the immersive and atmospheric goal of the mod.
Currently getting real close to making nights too bright for my taste!
I have tweaked and sometimes significantly increased the brightness of the nights in the following regions:
- Empire
- Bretonnia
- Athel Loren
- Sylvania
- Kislev
- Norsca
- World's Edge Mountains

Will get to the rest in the following updates.
John Matrix  [author] 20 May @ 10:10am
@BlackDragon2601 Hey there, thanks for the kind words! However, what do you mean by Wood part? Do you mean the Wood Elf settlement map? Or do you mean that it's dark for you only in the wooded parts of generic battle maps? Thanks!
BlackDragon2601 19 May @ 8:48pm
Thank you both. On my Side its roughly every Wood Part on a battle map (not the whole map, just the part in the woods). Maybe i will give it a try with the screenshots. I'm not good at collecting and uploading data. I already avoid it in my work wherever I can. So it's better not to expect it. Nevertheless, I can only recommend this mod. The overall atmosphere is terrific. Can't praise it enough
John Matrix  [author] 19 May @ 10:29am
@BlackDragon2601 Please let me know whenever you get a map you deem to be too dark. Take a screenshot of the battle map and of the minimap.
I also tweak nights all the time while i play myself. I've lightened some nights in the Empire a bit (though still only locally on my end).
John Matrix  [author] 19 May @ 10:27am
@Doomnayer Interesting but curious, what specifically did you replace? Did you copy-paste day time environments into the night environment group in the weather->battle folder? Keep in mind, the mod is entirely built on the override files that are specific to each single environment in each single map. So whatever you place in the main environment_group will be overriden by all the parameters i placed in the override files. So with Night Groups you might get a day skybox (if i did not place a night skybox in the override) but with darker parameters (which are in the override).

Also, in this way you are probably adding day skyboxes indiscriminately to every area, even where they dont belong (eg. crystal clear sky in the Darklands).
Finally, Vampire Corrupted enviroments will be partially broken since they cycle through the 6nights + 2 unique ones. Depending on how you did it, you're going to get blue sky and sunshine in areas with +100 Vamp Corruption :D
Doomnayer 19 May @ 10:20am
@BlackDragon: so find !battle_weather_overhaul!.pack in your hard drive's Steam workshop folder, open it with Rusted PackFile Manager which you download from, Google, navigate to [Weather] > [Battle] where you see numerous .environment groups.
Then find the ones titled, /wh_night_clear_01, have everything in it replaced by everything copied from /wh_day_clear_01. Et cetera.
This is definitely a stupid fix of mine though, compared to modders who really know the magic.
BlackDragon2601 19 May @ 9:43am
@Doomnayer: Sounds perfect. Can you explain how you do that for a noob? I love this mod overall, so thank you very much John Matrix, but some map points are just too dark and i am fine with fighting at day times only.
Doomnayer 18 May @ 8:28pm
@JohnMatrix Thanks for the reply. But I came from Ultimate Lighting lol. It's problem is that (while I only play Ostankya), too many battles occur at a dim, dull, grey, depressing evenings for unknown reason.
So far I have replaced the codes in _night_.environment_group with the ones from Days. And it's been great..... Hope this helps anyone who's looking.
John Matrix  [author] 18 May @ 3:55pm
@Doomnayer Hey there, appreciate the kind words but i'd suggest you try out the Ultimate Lighting 2.0 mod. It has exactly what you're looking for: more frequent sunny and bright days and, more generally, is way more visibility prioritized than mine.
Doomnayer 18 May @ 3:24am
Trying to reverse-engineer this great mod.
It would be nice if anyone could make a Visibility Prioritized mod. Just give me more sunny days and let me see the unit textures I paid for, please.....
John Matrix  [author] 10 May @ 8:07am
@Balduino IV Hey there, feel free to upload them to imgur or similar sites, and then link them here directly in the comments. Make sure to provide screenshots that show part of the sky and especially the minimap. Thanks! :)
Balduino IV 8 May @ 2:27pm
Hi John! Fan of your work. At What email can I send the screenshots?
John Matrix  [author] 3 May @ 1:56pm
Chaos Realm Update:
- updated all the Chaos Realms map with brand new and unique environments, in line with the rest of the mod (they were pure vanilla still). I re-added to these maps a strong blur in order to give them a more immaterial feel.
- Unfortunately, you wont see these maps all too much in your campaigns since they are pretty much non existant in IE, except a couple of quest battles. They are present in RoC of course, but barely anybody plays that map. They are present and fully playable in ChaosRobies The Old World since he added the Chaos Realms back to the map.
- expect what you see in the Chaos Wastes or monogod corrupted areas but dialed up even more for each god.
- I've added a bunch of screenshots to the gallery as a preview. You'll find them after the Chaos Wastes screenshots.
John Matrix  [author] 3 May @ 12:33pm
@Dreadnaughty Thanks for the feedback but, as i have mentioned countless times, i need screenshots of the battle and the minimap. "Too dark" is entirely subjective so without a visual cue i have no idea what is too dark for you or if its genuinely dark. Also, there are more than 50 different nights in the mod, with completely different levels of brightness, different skies, rainy nights, snowy nights, moonless nights ecc ecc. "Nights are too dark" unfortunately does not tell me anything at all unless you literally dislike every single night you got (which means the mod is just not for you).
Now, as mentioned in previous comments, in some maps the moon, may be obstructed by mountains or buildings. This may cast a truly pitch black area on the battle which is not intentional and i need to fix. But i won't be testing several hundred maps for this, hence me needing a screenshot of both the battle area and the minimap. This allows me to pinpoint it and fix it, if it is indeed the problem.
John Matrix  [author] 3 May @ 12:19pm
@Romulus Let me know what nights you feel are too dark. I'll see if i agree or not. Keep in mind, i've revised all nights and have made all them way brighter than what they were originally when i released the mod.

@wiselight3 where in the WH world are you fighting? Some area are naturally (and lorefully) more rainy than others. If you well me where you're finding lots of rain i can tell you if you're just being unlucky with the RNG or not.
wiselight3 3 May @ 5:51am
feels like it rains a lotttt for every battle
Romulus 3 May @ 2:04am
@Dreadnaughty I agree. Night battles are a lot more difficult. I absolutely adore this mod for everything else but night battles are just unnecessarily difficult
Dreadnaughty 3 May @ 1:19am
night battles due to this mod are unplayable - can`t see anything, that dark it is.
so its up to you whathever you would like it or not, but we are here to battle the battles, and not to raise brightness to max each time you face an enemy at night.
Seethe 1 May @ 5:23am
@John Matrix. Thanks a lot for the response, had no idea it works like that. Once I will encounter these maps in the future, I'll make sure to provide some screenshots
John Matrix  [author] 27 Apr @ 9:49am
@Fiur really doesn't sound like anything thus or my campaign map mod would cause. Never had any issues with UI myself. It's probably some other mod, don't know how to help you!

@Dreadnaughty Pitch black areas are generally unintentional and caused by the moon being hidden behind mountains in certain maps. I really need a screenshot of the battle map (with the sky visible) and of the minimap please. That would help as it would allow me to pinpoint what specific map it is right away. Without it i can't really do much unless i feel like testing and loading hundreds of maps to find the issue. Thanks!

@Seethe see above

@Колдун see above
Колдун 27 Apr @ 5:43am
turned it off because I CANT SEE ANYTHING. what's the point of that dark battles? complete nonsense
Seethe 26 Apr @ 5:06am
The night maps are absolutely ridiculous. You cannot even see the banner, or anything at all.
Fiur 24 Apr @ 11:57am
@EasyTimesBerk - doesn't appear to be the issue of this mod. I've had it without the mod as well. I mean I'm also using the mod for the campaign map - tho that's there and not on the map. It might cause that issue.
EasyTimesBerk 24 Apr @ 7:24am
@Fiur yea i have the same problem, the UI thing is annoying
pururin 23 Apr @ 7:34pm
great stuff, loved some of these but then there were too many dark maps where I couldnt see things and it became hard to select units that I had to turn it off eventually
Dreadnaughty 19 Apr @ 2:34am
to the mod author - work is nice, but those dark areas...i mean, we are playing strategic game, not some kind of realistic extraction shooter. you have to adjust dark spots to be more brighter.
Fiur 18 Apr @ 5:38pm
I have some weird light interaction - just a shadow pillar across the middle of the board. As Gor Rok on his way to capture the second settlement.

I also noticed that the Unit command UI is kind of hidden. If you zoom in you can see it. But not if you are zoomed out. Like range - movement commands etc.

I love the mod and the atmosphere it gives. But not being able to see some UI stuff is hard. Any way to fix that?
