@Logitek Fixed!

@BoxOfCox Yes, I've just pushed an update that makes the HUD and gameplay changes optional. Make sure to restore the original files with the backup (except for the VPK fix) and to re-install a fresh copy of the mod. To undo the Weapon Icons, just delete HalfLife2.ttf in the resource folder since it is no longer essential now that the HUD is optional.

@SJTHEGAMER I've seen a lot of people have a lot of trouble getting the icons to work, but I have not been able to replicate this myself. I wish I knew what caused this in order to fix it somehow.

@Shyborg @Hat Hey, just pushed an update to make the HUD and most other features optional instead of being ON by default, hopefully that helps.
Hat 16 Jul @ 5:33pm
If you dont want the lower gravity open simplehudbinds.cfg and delete the "slightly floatier jump" part, you can also get rid of the alt walk here too, no idea why they decided to add this to a hud mod its completely irrelevant
SJTHEGAMER 8 Jul @ 5:00am
I wish this actually worked for me
Shyborg 7 May @ 12:21am
can you make a seperate mod that only changes the crosshairs?
2.5 Bobux  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:44pm
@Spillow-C This happens if you throw the contents of the mod directly into the custom folder. You have to make a folder WITHIN the custom folder and then throw the contents of the mod there.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:42pm
@adidores1054 Sorry, but I have no idea how to do that.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:40pm
@MaslyMaster51 Thanks a lot! Hope you enjoy the mod.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 21 Apr @ 2:40pm
@BoxofCox Yes, there is, though it is a bit convoluted due to how steam handles some files.
After you put this mod in your custom folder, unsubscribe from it. Then, go to the instance in your custom folder and delete EVERYTHING except for:
-scripts/(all of the files with weapon names)
-materials/crosshairs

I haven't touched HL2 in a while, but this should be it.

Also, make sure to install the truncated VPK so that all weapon scripts work; otherwise, the crosshair for the smg, crossbow, and rpg will be the default one.

Hope it helps!

The crosshairs are awesome. Is there a way to just keep the crosshairs without installing the gameplay changes or weapon icons?
MalsMastr51 25 Mar @ 5:50pm
This is... This is probably so underated... MY GOD this is one of the best, not to say THE best, HUD / UI mod i've seen for this game thus far. Thine work shall be appreciated and beloved in my "must have" list of mods for Half-Life 2.

For some reason, when you obtain weapon_stunstick_player, the stunstick is invisible and has no sound with this mod enable, can you fix that?
Spillow-C 20 Mar @ 11:42am
neverrmind, i fixed it by moving the files from the "custom" folder directly into into "hl2", hope it could help someone with the same problem.
Spillow-C 20 Mar @ 11:26am
this error shows up and the game doesnt start, it says this:
"tired to add path\material as a search path, this is probably nopt what you have intended"
DappleDualies 5 Mar @ 7:10pm
3379521961 isn't there?

put this above it in load order after taking the vpk to custom folder and huds fixed
Logitek 12 Feb @ 4:22pm
The shotgun has a clip size of 8 instead of 6.
adidores1054 2 Feb @ 3:36pm
@2.5 Bobux No problem!
2.5 Bobux  [author] 2 Feb @ 3:00pm
Thanks for letting me know. It should be fixed now.
adidores1054 2 Feb @ 4:06am
The car finder hud in Episode 2 is on the top left for some reason, will that be fixed?
2.5 Bobux  [author] 31 Jan @ 6:53pm
Trust me, I know. Writing all that was not very fun either, but I had to work with the limitations of the steam workshop. There are a bunch of file types that are not recognized if you just subscribe to mods, and that outright break unless you take very specific steps. Until they update how mods are loaded, it is what it is.
YOU SUCK 31 Jan @ 5:40pm
what the hell is that autistic install method smh my head
nt45 14 Jan @ 1:23pm
oh ye srry for my innatention
2.5 Bobux  [author] 12 Jan @ 9:27pm
Oh by the way, the crosshairs are also juniez compatible, so I'm 100% sure it's another mod that is overwriting the changes made to the script files. Try disabling all your mods and see which one is the culprit.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 12 Jan @ 9:22pm
@nt45 it's in the description under the tweaking crosshairs section.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 12 Jan @ 9:22pm
@bennobrba22 Just checked and they are compatible. You have another mod overwriting the script files for the weapons, which causes the crosshairs not to work. Are there any weapon replacements, tweaks, or other similar mods that you might be using? Like Juniez or something along those lines?
nt45 12 Jan @ 1:22pm
how to install hud but witthout unique crosshairs?
bennobrba22 12 Jan @ 10:42am
The main thing here is I'm trying to use this along with the Condensed Animated HUD, which might be the main issue at hand.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 11 Jan @ 2:38pm
It could also be a conflict with another mod that also alters script files for weapons, you will have to find out which one that is and put this mod above that one in your load order.
2.5 Bobux  [author] 11 Jan @ 2:35pm
This is only if you boot up directly into the episodes. If you boot up in normal HL2 it should work as intended. Now, to fix this, either try using the script loader mod, or boot into half life 2 base, and then switch to the episodes.
bennobrba22 11 Jan @ 1:51pm
New issue: the crosshairs only show up for the crowbar and gravity gun.
Drag0n 10 Jan @ 7:59pm
Awesome, thank you!
2.5 Bobux  [author] 10 Jan @ 7:53pm
@Drag0n Thanks, they took some time to get right. Also, you can pick and choose whatever you like/dislike. For the crosshairs, go down a bit, someone asked about the same thing. Just disregard what I said about going through weapon script files 1 by 1, I got confused with another mod. Hope this helps!
2.5 Bobux  [author] 10 Jan @ 7:43pm
@bennobrba22 Yes, after you set up the custom folder, follow the installation steps the HUD.

Then you can unsubscribe from the mod and delete everything from the mod folder in the custom directory except for these two files: the the backup folder, in case you want to uninstall the mod later on, and halflife2.ttf. These are located in the resource folder. After this, you should be good to go.
Drag0n 10 Jan @ 7:13pm
I like the crosshairs, not a fan of anything else.
bennobrba22 10 Jan @ 6:52pm
Is there any way to get just the HUD icons by themselves?
2.5 Bobux  [author] 6 Jan @ 10:45pm
If you only want the crosshairs, just delete everything except for these two:

Scripts — These assign the crosshairs to the weapons. Go into the text files 1 by 1 and delete the default_clip line to restore the vanilla ammo drops.
[modname]/scripts/[weapon_names].txt

Crosshairs — This is where the crosshairs for the weapons are stored.
[modname]/materials/crosshairs

Hope this helps. Make sure you also unsubscribe from the mod after you extract the files into your custom folder to prevent the other content from activating.
I don't want to install the grenade texture, what do I do when I install this add-on?
Which folders contain the scripts and materials for JUST the crosshairs?
2.5 Bobux  [author] 1 Jan @ 10:17pm
I don't know how to, sorry.
Deapog 29 Dec, 2024 @ 5:58pm
can you port this to gmod
2.5 Bobux  [author] 29 Dec, 2024 @ 1:48pm
Though I'm not exactly sure what you meant. Within the the mod's folder, you should have a scripts folder with all the weapon script text files. Basically hl2/custom/[Mod Folder]/scripts/[all the weapon.txt files]
2.5 Bobux  [author] 29 Dec, 2024 @ 1:44pm
@Z3b0s Do you just want the crosshairs? For that to work, you should have both, the materials folder, and the scripts folder in your mod directory.
Such as: hl2/custom/[Mod Folder]/[scripts+materials folders].
Z3b0s 29 Dec, 2024 @ 7:20am
created an folder within the custom folder with all the mods content and copied the script folder for the custom crosshairs back to the custom folder but it appears like the game cant find the scripts folder for whanever reason, am i misreading something?
BOON: SPIRAL LOLLIPOP 21 Dec, 2024 @ 7:58pm
I deleted my entire Half-Life 2 folder and verified my installation, and it's still broken
