I'm working on a few final changes, then likely won't make any further updates until after Christmas unless someone points out something not functioning right, or what have you

Love the update! AA has enough targets so that they do not spend too much time stomping which allows moments for Pirates to take advantage and make their push or aimed shots when the .50s are focused on their own defense! I think that a Yak-3 historically claimed a kill on a 262 so I never underestimate the Pirate fighters and their cannons!

I think what I'll do is swap some of the Yak-3s for Yak-9s as they've got better firepower and so they can take on the KWS jets.

It was also recommended to me by a playtester that I create an alternative version that focuses purely on the dogfights, while having the ground troops be AI managed, meaning the whole goal is to support the armor and infantry in defending/attacking the city.

Doubling or tripling the Pirate Yaks would be fun and make there be more of an incentive to spawn as the Ace Jet Pilot!

I'm also considering doubling the number of aircraft for both sides in all waves; i REALLY enjoy dogfights. I'll need to add more AAA spawns for the pirates as well to make things a bit more balanced, though i'll make the later spawns be quad-50 maxims rather than tri-mount 20mm

I only ask this as the AA guns seem to run out of Air targets rather quick and it would be logical if they were dual purpose as area denial weapons and as Anti Air? I think moving them would maybe be beneficial as I do see where your idea and planning is from and think that you really could keep them as is if you love them! Honestly I am only really playing this mission over and over again I don't play my creations!

Oh wait i'm stupid, you were talking about the Quad-50s! Yeah no those are supposed to purely be anti-aircraft guns but for some reason the AI has decided it's going to try using them for anti-personnel when they can't eve hit the dudes they're firing at. I wanted there to be AA guns on the roof of the Palace of Justice (represented by the saigon palace), but I'm starting to think i'm going to have to move them from there to the Royal Palace (the mosque on the far hill with the four minarets and one big minaret, supposed to represent a rebuilt Hassan II mosque but, ya know, i don't have the model or the skills to model an actual Hassan II mosque)

I did try inclining the turrets, though they're MG42s actually; canonically, Prince-Regent Amir is an avid firearms enthusiast, and when he uncovered old world schematics for the MG42, he fell in love with the weapon right away, and had it reproduced under the designation MG78 (for the year 2078 when the schematics were found). It became the primary general purpose machine gun for the West Saharan military at large, with the M1919 being slowly phased out and sold onto the civilian market, while M2 brownings remain primarily for use in weapons companies attached to infantry battalions, anti air craft weapons, and for vehicles (namely tanks and troop carriers). But I'll certainly take that into consideration, and have the turrets depressed further down to provide more effective fields of fire.

You would be surprised how fun it is to attack on this mission! High-capacity semi automatic weapons make up for a lot of the difficulty and allow for good marksmanship to be rewarded with position gain. Nothing was more cinematic than surviving several strafing runs from West Saharan jets while beating off their counter attacks single-handedly with an RPK. One thing that you may want to test is setting the 50. cal turrets on a slight decline so they can shoot downward just slightly more! I love being able to take advantage of their blind-spot but it is a really big blind spot - they cannot defend their buildings from even Pirates standing just 100 feet away because there is not enough depression.

@BerenOneHand I'm glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you have any critiques, particularly regarding balancing. It's aimed at being a defensive mission played from the perspective of the West Saharan military, but I want folks interested in playing the pirates to be able to win as well; it's not a completely fair fight, and isn't supposed to be, but it IS supposed to be a game of quality vs quantitiy

Absolute trip of a mission and map! I felt immersed as if the spirit of Alien Muhammad took over me as I vanquished Gentile Devils from this earth.:thestar:
