Is there a way or mod for b42 to climb down safely without a sheet rope or ladder? Currently there is a decent chance to get deep wound or fracture when falling from the second floor without encumbrance and with high fitness/strength

So they made it annoyingly difficult to solve, of course. Why'd they even add them...
And I haven't encountered any without collision anymore. I've encountered ones away from the edges that you could hop like tall fences, but that's about it for strange ones.

@Kap those "railings" are considered by vanilla either as no collisions sprites or high walls collisions sprites.

As many others have said, a great companion to this would be a mod to make jumping over the new b42 roof railings possible. I may look into trying to do that.

So how do you climb back down? I was attempting to get inside a small garage in Rosewood by opening a window but instead of that, my character climbed to the top of the garage and I couldn't figure out how to get back down without taking fall damage. Happened twice in the same neighborhood lol.

use -debug mode, noclip, exit debug. annoying but that's the only fix. it's also the same for the ladders mod cus there are some vanilla places with it.

@Stygian Was coming here just to mention that, seems like alot of the rooftops in B42, the "railings" since idk what else to call them, of the walls have collision now and can't be climbed nor jumped over, when in B41 you could walk through them, so you just get stuck way easier now

Just a heads up, I got permanently stuck on a small section of the roof of the Sanatorium with no way out because my character climbed up through what seems to be a wall. Not sure if it's something that can be fixed currently, but wanted to mention it especially for anyone that goes to that location.

@Tchernobill no im just asking about compatibility by patch or etc. Maybe i need to ask this to sportXAI?

@KersMaik (c) KT are you really asking me to steal SportXAI's mod ?

A climb down function would be neat! Perhaps something in mind with those strange knee high barriers that are on some roofs. In my case, I noticed it at the Sunstar Motel in Muldraugh but that spot has ladders leading to the roof too. Prop ones, at any rate, but they DO get around those barriers.

Found a situation that you can climb up but cannot walk off because it has a knee high wall. First found this at Fallas Lake - E.P. Tools. Can get off the roof at this location because you can walk onto the other part of the roof. But that knee high wall allows a person to climb up but not walk off.

Not sure if that knee high wall was supposed to block the ability to climb. If a roof has that knee high wall all the way around it is a spot you could get up and not get down. Tested this at the Pharmacy in West Point and it has a knee high wall that allows you to climb up but there is no way off that roof without the ability to destroy that wall.

Roof tiles also do not block climbing, including the over hang roof tiles. Expected that to count for something over your head and block climbing. Not sure if those tiles can be added.

love the mod

What B42 with this mod is good about is now you can climb most, if not all, single story house roofs, not just roof tops, and wait up there until the stamina moodle disappears.

@ElectroGrid Yes, you will injure yourself if you carry much weight.
ElectroGrid 22 Dec, 2024 @ 6:05pm
You won't injure yourself from jumping down unless you have clumsy I think? Not sure but you don't need to climb down to be honest.

this is nice. thanks.
Any chance for a climb down though. Getting onto a flat roof is nice, but getting down by falling does not sound appealing. And I am likely to forget to have building materials on me to build a railing and tie a sheet rope to get back down :D
