oh interesting, fortunately you can just pick the item back up but an item blacklist would still be a good idea, I'll add it to the to-do list

Just finished a run, and during the Ascent, I paid the Brawler Beggar to see if I can gulp a trinket, and one of the passive items he ended up knocking out of me was Dad's Note Not sure if you want to blacklist that item (and possibly any other story related items) from being dropped through the Brawler Beggar.

Only in Isaac would paying somebody to punch me in the face be a desirable outcome.

I can confirm that my mod didn't update properly, reinstalling fixed the issue, brawler beggar doesn't break the shield anymore :]
PootisWizard 8 Feb @ 9:42am
its likely my mod didn't update properly, I'll try to get it working and report back.

I am playing on Rep+.
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 7 Feb @ 8:03pm
just tested with holy mantle and holy card and didnt lose the shield, according to wiki the holy mantle shield bypass was only added in Repentance so if you're playing just with AB+ that would be it, otherwise it could be that you're stuck on an older version but that update was over 2 weeks ago, is there the option to change the cost in the config menu?
PootisWizard 7 Feb @ 6:14pm
I need to do a bit of more testing, but in a run with T.Lost I lost my mantle shield when paying the beggar, which shouldn't be the case if you switch the damage type to Dull Razor (and that, according to the wiki, bypasses Mantle Shields)

i already finished the run sorry + idk how to use debug console
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 7 Feb @ 7:30am
sounds like it didn't finish properly setting up the beggar after spawning the entity, any error messages in the debug console?
Blie the bleeder 7 Feb @ 7:11am
after re entering the room vanished

doesn't seem to work for me, walked into him nothing happaned, i tried to bomb him. dropped a soul heart and a key after which he became freely movable
krzarb 2 Feb @ 1:33am
Thanks doing a delete of the mod folder did the trick :)
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 1 Feb @ 10:02pm
maybe try unsubscribe, delete your local copy of the mod from your mod folder, run the game without mod, close, then resubscribe?
krzarb 1 Feb @ 1:21pm
It might just be me, but I can only adjust the spawn chance not the cost. I've unsubbed and resubbed and that doesn't help either. Anything else I can try? Thanks

Thank you 🙏
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 28 Jan @ 6:32pm
the cost can now be set anywhere from 1 to 9 in the config menu
Fresh whole wheat bread 28 Jan @ 8:16am
Could you please add a config option to change how much money he costs to play?
Dr. Coitus 23 Jan @ 8:32am
Would you also do that for item beggar? they're also able to take the tainted's pocket item
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 23 Jan @ 12:32am
have updated it, shouldn't affect pocket actives anymore
Gliya 22 Jan @ 9:38pm
I don't know if it is intentional but don't use it with tainted characters because it makes you drop your pocket active item
PootisWizard 22 Jan @ 10:41am
Alright, it was weird when I played the beggar and it removed my perfection
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 22 Jan @ 12:56am
have set it to use the dull razor (rather than manually applying damage) which doesn't cause perfection to drop
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 22 Jan @ 12:55am
weird, it definitely shouldn't do that it, it only uses fake damage and it sets the player as the source of the damage, either of which should make Perfection ignore the damage
PootisWizard 21 Jan @ 10:08pm
Is it normal for the beggar to remove my Perfection?
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 21 Jan @ 6:46pm
it has a fairly rare chance to spawn and the chances for the effects are low so you usually have to spend a decent amount of money to get what you want unless you get lucky

its not super powerful by itself, its only through combination with other things that it gets great
if you didn't have good trinkets or on-damage effects or pickup granting items it's like "did i really just spend 33 cents to spawn 1 pill and poop a few times? I could've just bought an item"
(also vanilla stuff has strong combos, it's kinda how the game works, combos are fun)

even if you do have piggy bank or tons of money you can't use him infinitely to get everything you want since every time you use him he has a 5% chance to leave and unless you set the chance to spawn higher you probably won't see him again in that run, plus if you're that wealthy that you can use him as much as you want you're probably already 'breaking the game' in other ways anyway

also its a mod, no ones forcing anyone to use it
JeffTheGuy3001 21 Jan @ 5:34pm
Why did you make this so powerful? there should be some debate as to weather or not to use them
☢ Nato Potato ☢  [author] 18 Jan @ 11:12pm
it costs money goozerk

the redesign is nice but it's not something you can just download and drop into your files they're a different format, it'd take a decent amount of work to get the beggar looking exactly the same as the redesign in game, especially with the custom animations, its also missing sprites for when the beggar is paid

that said I have created a copy of the original spritesheet and modified it to look like tired guys design, it won't look exactly the same and the animations won't match up, but it should work fine, you can swap to it by opening the mods files, going to resources\gfx\items\slots, deleting the regular spritesheet and renaming the alt one to remove the ' - alt' from its name
Fresh whole wheat bread 18 Jan @ 4:49pm
I like that re sprite a lot, how do i install?
goozerk 18 Jan @ 11:44am
is there any downsides or is it just free buffs
average tired guy 18 Jan @ 6:03am
i made a resprite for this here [imgur.com]

its not a config option but if you wanted you could open the lua file (not with word, notepad++ is good), find the 'beggarreplacelist' setting (not hard to find), delete a couple of the entries and then jack up the chance to spawn
gothm 17 Jan @ 1:29pm
A really nice beggar that ads functionality in so many ways

Would appreciate a mod config changable setting which removes a specific beggar type for this one or limits which beggars to replace.

For example I can never think of a time when I would use a rotten beggar, so replacing him with this one would make my runs a tad bit better

10/10 mod would recommend to everyone

cool idea
Bjorksnase 14 Jan @ 12:40pm
Also just realized because of testing it out that the bum actually pairs well with health up items because when one is knocked out of you, you keep the container and can then pick it up again or reroll it same with items that spawn pickups like the box, very fun for gameplay.

I'm glad you either saw my comment on reddit on boxing / wrestling items / injuries from boxing / drugs for boxing / prizes from boxing, or had the exact same idea, Its a pretty sizable pool and its nice to see them get some love.
rodja457 14 Jan @ 8:17am
Thank you man, I didn't exoect you to make it this fast, I'm glad you made it
GamingGeoduck 14 Jan @ 8:15am
Great minds think a like i suppose. Epiphany adds a similar functioning machine with the purpose of fake damage and trinket gulping.
CaMpeR 14 Jan @ 5:58am
After seeing the reddit post, thought i could make this in my free time since the idea was really nice but you beat me to it. Wasn't expecting it to be done that fast, congrats!
