Can we blacklist some backpacks? I would like dufflebags, plastic bags and some other basic ones to remain unchanged for scavengining purposes, but actual backpacks to remain randomized

not sure if its intended but it appears setting the "max increase to 3" and "max reduction to 3"
will only allow for -3 to +2, only thing i can assume is its counting 0 as a possible roll so +0 +1 +2

@Quilava Exactly the same for me, the first thing I do when a mod gets updated and I notice it, I click on update note to see what has changed.

@N0wh3re Understandable, I already guessed that would be the case. And yes, it would make more sense to only implement it after another big update. Alternatively, you could also add an alternative mod version in which it was implemented, that way people who started a save using the old settings can continue to use the old settings. That would mean a little extra work for you though. It's understandable if you do not want to do that.

about your suggestion, I'm worried that once I added sandbox option, they will effect on current saved files as well. This mean, if I add weight reduction and set "percentage" by default, everyone who were using value as "Absolute" will be changed to percentage too. That's why I can't update that so easily. maybe I will update when next PZ big update.
I missed this 42.3 because i were too busy.

Regarding the "Change Notes": The suggestion to add the "%" symbol after the weight reduction difference in the label came from @Quilava, not me.

My suggestion was to make it possible to choose if you want to use absolut values or percentage for both capacity and weight reduction independently from each other. Example: being able to use absolut numbers for weight reduction but percentage for capacity or vice versa. This was not implemented yet as far as I know.

@DragieULTRA I will investigate and fix however if better satchel implemented its function by recipe based, there's nothing much i can do something. let me see if I can do something.

So i found two satchels with different stats (both different than default) but once i wore them front and back both's values set to default. I am using better satchel mod as well, that might be the issue?

A mod similar to this that can give weapons a chance to have extra or less durability would be cool, perhaps also for damage? That + 10 damage toilet plunger would go hard :D

Maybe even some rare special modifier such as having a weapon be multi-target or having a higher crit chance etc.

Ah, everything make sense now, would be nice if you can move setting to mod option, but if it too much work, you can just change the default setting to enable to every container, that would do the trick

I mean ... who dont want other container type to have random stat? Im just glad that it all just setting and not a bug :steamthumbsup::cool_seagull:

Oh now it makes sense. (and I almost forgot)
let me explain one by one since Im not good at explain long in English.

1. because randomizing container is disabled by default sandbox option. (you can see second option in workshop thumbnail.) default means, the option is disabled when you are not playing in sandbox mode. (Apoc, Builder, Survivor)

2. there was a bug when container randomize is disabled, where backpack which is in loot "containers" was not randomized.
(This has fixed from last update. sorry!)

3. KATTAJ's pouches have container type, also weapon case or ammo box or etc are all containers rather than backpack.
(shortly you can equip on your back then it's a backpack. else, a container)

4. maybe I can move options to mod option from sandbox option but idk yet.

Ok, let me correct something, it look like only the backpack that spawn on zombie have random stat, container that not spawn on the zombie doesnt change at all

Thank to the stat change now show with this update, i when to gun store and find out that none of the weapon case and ammo box have random stat like picture 4,5,6. Also my case with KATTAJ container are the same, only work with that backpack, other pouches spawn on zombie doesnt work at all

@Quilava Oh Okay so you haven't changed sandbox setting that's enough. becauase I myself changed sandbox setting to see more dynamic range of capacity. okay so i will be back to default sandbox setting and see if something is not right. I will leave a comment here if I found something with default ;)

I run every test with debug mod in survival mode, i feel like it the "Standard/Normal difficulty" of the game, i dont do sandbox cause it always tempted me to tweak thing more ez

No error tho, so i dont think it a bug, it just that i havent found any of tho pouches changed, maybe im just not lucky since you using same mod and it work

1. that's a good point. I will add % for reduction at next update.

2. Can you share your sandbox values to me? I also use KATTAJ's pack too but I don't feel any strange from my game. I have two magsecure pouches and they have different capacity. so I will play with your setting and see if there's a bug.

3. Do you mean containers which contains item inside? like medbag with medical supplies. if true then same as 2, I will investigate with your value.

New update just so good, i do forget the base capacity of a bag sometime, so i cant tell if i get a better bag or not if it change only a little, such amazing update. One thing tho, could you add % to the weight reduction ? Like (+2/-5%), it look more neat & give you faster idea of which stat is which compare to just (+2/-5)

Also i have noticed one thing tho, all backpack & hand held container (mod included) work fine, but hip bag & other container doesnt get this random stat, one of the mod i use is KATTA armor mod, they have some thigh pouch but it never change, would be cool if you can make tho bag work too

The container that spawn with item inside doesnt change stat i think? Many time i loot sewing box & Trouma bag (medic bag in ambulance), their stat never change. I dont know if im just unlucky, but if it is true that bag with item inside wont change stat then you may want to update it

Maybe an option to make it so that you can choose between absolute value and percentage for capacity and weight reduction independently would be good?

For example, making it so that that you can choose a percentage of 25% for the capacity so that every bag/container can get more capacity depending on it's base capacity but an absolute value for weight reduction to add at most 15% weight reduction to it no matter what the base value of the bag/container is.

In the example above, a bag with 12 base capacity could at most reach 15 capacity (+3) and a bag with 20 base capacity could at most reach 25 capacity (+5). A bag with 50% base weight reduction could at most reach 65% weight reduction (+15%) and a bag with 80% base weight reduction could at most reach 95% weight reduction (+15%).

In my opinion, for capacity a percentage change is the better option while for weight reduction an absolute value is the better option.

Really like this mod and the new update especially! Being able to see at a glance how much better or worse a bag is, is really great.

When backpack is randomize, how often backpack will be better than vanilla. if you set this 0, backpack will be worse than vanilla when randomized. do you have better idea for this option name? please suggest :)

Nice mod idea I will definitely use this but what is "Chance to get better backpacks"? Does it mean a small backpack has the chance to spawn as a larger bag like a hiking one?

You can change sandbox if you feel it's too op. if you set global chance as 50 and better backpack chance as 10, only 5% of backpack will be better than vanilla. also how much will be better also adjustable via sandbox.

Dynamic Backpack Upgrades [ B42/B41 ]

Very stable mod, been using since B41, not too OP, but isnt too grinddy either, and my fav thing about it is it work with EVERY bag & mod :cta_emo7:

I thought mod you said is something like: Upgrade Hiking backpack into Big Hiking backpack(something like craft recipes) but i guess I'm wrong? interesting :D and might i wanna add the mod you said for my world

I test the mod with bag upgrade mod, and i have awesome new, this mod work perfectly fine with backpack upgrade mod, if the bag stat is high, then the stat will cap at 99% reduction & 49 capacity

We going full loot goblin with this one bois :cool_seagull:

Sure :) Actually, I've been testing the balance now. Like, too rare or too common.
I'm thinking of releasing this feature together with "Full Randomized Capacity" option, so you don't have to force use Military backpack. this option will randomize capacity no matter it's original.

Did want to ask tho, is there a planned option to make higher capacity roll rarer? Like i chose minimum 3 and max 10, but wished closer to 10 capacity would be rarer, instead of a generic rarity option (default at 45% one)

- if they use custom "Type" , then won't work. but I've not seen mods yet which uses custom type. Type means "Item Category" However, it's different with Display Category.

- Well, I haven't used backpack upgrade mod. This mod change backpacks & containers stats when they are spawned . If your mod Create new backpack, then backpack will follows your mod's stat and my mod won't randomize. from this reason, Sheet Sling Bag will not randomize since it's created by player. (Still have chance to be random when Zombie drops it.)

- I'm not good at math but I'm pretty sure I calculated as well at this time :D you will always get at least 1 capacity for backpack. also items which is contained will not be disappeared even it has 0 capacity , they just won't be put into back when you take them out once.

The idea is very cool, but i have some question
- Does this work with other backpack mod?
- Im also use backpack upgrade mod, will it conflict with mod that change capacity & weight value?
- I saw the default reduction capacity is 2, hip bag also only have 2 capacity ... does that mean there a chance it will have 0 capacity? what about the item inside of it? Can that cause bug?
