I'm -very- late to the party here, but anyway...
This looks excellent, truly. Would you / PLEASE / update it to work cleanly with the Rising Tide DLC? It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Malpherian 4 Jul, 2022 @ 6:50pm
Please update this for rising tide and your other one as well
Mhurgle 20 Nov, 2019 @ 4:48pm
None of these Colonialist Legacies mods doesn't seem to work for me?
Do they need to be in a particular order to work and/or are they not compatible with RT?
Kerovanka 22 Feb, 2019 @ 4:00pm
please update mod for RT

I was mining resources I needed (In my own land ) and they demanded I hand them over, I said no because I was running low, so they declared jihad. 10/10 perfectlly accurate
RadiantForge 31 Jan, 2016 @ 4:48pm
Can you update this to rising tide?
TPangolin  [author] 30 Jan, 2016 @ 1:03am
The key phrase you used there is "that this is a fictional future and societies shift over time." It's unfortunate that you think we're ignorant, but we're pretty set on the lore we've created here. The reasoning behind the cultural shift is as our mod project suggests - a Colonialist Legacy. The mass amounts of fallout that ravaged the Middle East and Pakistan caused what was essentially a mass exodus from the region(s), bringing along with them new languages, culture and Diaspora.
Sourena 28 Jan, 2016 @ 11:04pm
As I mentioned, a coalition of these current nations definitely wouldn't look like this. I've read through the civilopedia as well and the lore is extremely well crafted, but it doesn't fit this list of countries. I get that this is a fictional future and societies shift over time. These are countries with very old cultures however, and this culture is being ignored and replaced with "GENERIC MIDDLE EAST #47". Hell none of those countries (with the exception of Kuwait) even speak Arabic. It's just a shame because there is a lot of potential in this grouping of countries and you guys obviously did a lot of work on this mod.
TPangolin  [author] 23 Jan, 2016 @ 4:09am
The reason for this subset of countries is because the More Civs project was planning on releasing another sponsor situated around the afforementioned countries and we didn't want to step on anyone else's toes. Seeing as this was the case, we decided to construct lore around what a coalition of these current nations would look like. You should take a look at our extensive Civilopedia so you can see our thought process!
Sourena 23 Jan, 2016 @ 12:14am
Having said that, my points don't affect gameplay (and on that front I would give you gold stars), but it seems that you take your lorecrafting seriously and the above mentioned points kind of ruin it.
Sourena 23 Jan, 2016 @ 12:13am
You may have heard this piece of (hopefully constructive) criticism before, but I find it really strange that the "middle eastern" faction includes only 2 countries that are actually located in the middle east. Also, the leader is presumably a Turkomen but has a (very) Arabic name. And on a further point, all of the countries listed are central asian/persianate cultures, except for Kuwait, which doesn't have anything in common with any of the others. You would have been better off including Tajikstan instead of Kuwait and gone for a central asian theme.

Conversely, you could drop every other country except Kuwait and instead add Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman. This is actually probably the better option because it's easier to change and would fit the Arabic/Islamic theme much better. It also leaves the Iranian/Central Asian group of countries (which have a lot more culture/language/history in common with each other than just being muslim) for a possible future mod.

rising tide plz
BlackMage 5 Nov, 2015 @ 10:09am
Will that be updated for rising tide?
JJOtterBear 22 Oct, 2015 @ 7:57am
this game is set in a future where the Earth is unhiabitable. So it may be a point in time where a woman can be a leader of Islam, as women should be allowed to be leaders. So there is no issue @Overlord_C
TPangolin  [author] 19 Oct, 2015 @ 6:39am
Key word there being "some". Not sure we're trying to appeal to those people.
spazzrights 18 Oct, 2015 @ 5:33pm
if this is islam why is the leader a woman? Im fine with it, but it seems some Islamists wouldnt.
tilarium 11 Oct, 2015 @ 10:47am
To expand on what JBCubbs said, the sponser doesn't work but the cargo and passangers do. I've not been able to get any custom sponsers to show up on the screen.
JJOtterBear 9 Oct, 2015 @ 10:33am
not working as of Rising Tide update
durfal 12 Mar, 2015 @ 1:22pm
spgm it works fine. But unfortunately even after the latest patch you still cant mix custom and original sponsors on graphic settings higher than the lowest level. Which was a huge disappointment. Stil crashes the game after the first other sponsor lands.
DeathNewGen 12 Mar, 2015 @ 8:23am
doesnt work after first turn
TPangolin  [author] 14 Feb, 2015 @ 2:13am
It's all good. Here's a quote from wikipedia:

"The Malaysian National Space Agency, in co-operation with other Malaysian agencies, developed the "Guidelines for Performing Islamic Rites at the International Space Station" with the help of 150 scientists and clerics. The handbook details how Muslim astronauts may observe Islamic rites while in orbit. Daily prayer times are aligned with those at the point of departure and if Mecca cannot be located, the astronauts may pray toward the Earth itself. "
grace of gosh 13 Feb, 2015 @ 10:09pm
also hoping i didnt come off as rude or acusative this has been a legitimate question of mine for like a year now when it comes to sci fi settings
grace of gosh 13 Feb, 2015 @ 10:05pm
well I mean praying towards mecca is a pretty big deal in islam unless space islam is different
TPangolin  [author] 13 Feb, 2015 @ 9:56pm
Who says they need to?
grace of gosh 13 Feb, 2015 @ 6:30pm
how do they pray to mecca on another planet lightyears away from earth tho
Miss Pavlichenko 11 Feb, 2015 @ 8:36pm
vv Have you played as the Kavithan Protectorate? It addresses this, somewhat.
Eternal Dawn 10 Feb, 2015 @ 1:06pm
Huh, while this is interesting, I pray to the emprah that no spacefaring empire would ever be founded based on religion, including but not limited to islam, christianity, atheism, hindu... Blech.
Heretek1914 10 Feb, 2015 @ 8:24am
Interesting how the only arguments against this kind of thing are founded in racism or arrogant elitism.

Aside from the parasites it attracted, well done.
khaley693 22 Jan, 2015 @ 6:49am
wow for someone who plays a game of culture and history I'm reading a lot of ignorance here

"Islamic Golden Age - a fairy tale the muslims tell each other to feel better after each new Western or Asian achievement."

People like xanatos321 is why the world can't advance
TPangolin  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 10:08am
I'm not going to delete your comment due to the sheer amount of hilarity that might occur if anyone actually encounters your counter arguments. I can't even comprehend the amount of crayons I'd need to explain how wrong you are.
xanatos321 20 Jan, 2015 @ 9:49am
Malaysian space program:
The program was officially announced by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir bin Mohamad, as a joint programme with the Russian Federation. (from wiki) - catching the ride with the infidels.

Islamic Golden Age - a fairy tale the muslims tell each other to feel better after each new Western or Asian achievement.

Muslim Caliphates in the first 2 centuries of their existence conquerred some the most civilised parts of the known world (Persia, Anatolia, Egypt, Levant, North Africa, Spain, Punjab, etc.). Sure they seemed advanced for a time, but in 1-2 centuries after each conquest when islamization reached certain level (% of muslims in population) there was darkness.

Arabia in the 19th century was not much different from the barbaric tribal Arabia of the 8th century. Cause and effect (natural laws) are forbidden in Islam everything happens by the will of Allah. The wery way the muslims see the world is a direct barrier to scientific method.
TPangolin  [author] 19 Jan, 2015 @ 5:18pm
Two things - Malaysians on Space and the Islamic Scientific Golden Age.
xanatos321 19 Jan, 2015 @ 11:07am
There will never ever be muslims is space on their own (without catching a ride with the infidels). Islamic society is incapable of sustained scientific progress. It always revers to barbarism the more Islamic it is. This is what you get when you cannot admit the existance of natural laws (blasphemy in Islam).
Miss Pavlichenko 17 Jan, 2015 @ 11:05am
the oldest university in the world was founded by a muslim woman but somehow "muslim female intellectuals" is less plausible than china, japan, and the koreas voluntarily unifying smh

WE'RE PLAYING A SPECULATIVE FICTION GAME. SPECULATE, FOR FUCK SAKE!

I love your work TPangolin.

In the BE universe, Pakistan is a part of the Kathivan Protectorate.

I would've much rather seen iran as independent and together paki-afghani regions
TPangolin  [author] 30 Nov, 2014 @ 4:57pm
It's this one most likely - JFD's The Christian Democratic Commonwealth

Adds promotions to the Gunboat iirc.
sunloverdenver 30 Nov, 2014 @ 11:36am
I'd be sad if it is the Enhanced Covert Ops one...since it makes spies that much more useful/flexible...but that does seem to be the only one that actually directly affects a unit, so...:(...I'll be sad if so, but it would be good to know. (Couldn't paste that in the below comments, silly 1000 character post limit...)
