Trivia: DID YOU KNOW that this mod exists specifically because, upon comments on the ore Spice Melage is replacing, Sayter himself said "LEARN TO MOD AND DO IT YOURSELF".
... Yeah, I knew how to mod, I could have replaced it earlier. But while I had to recover from life itself, he was actively developing FU and COULD EASILY MADE THE CHANGE, but nooooo~ Took me six years, but I got back and fixed it myself. And a few more shit stains while at it.

Damn, I'm sorry for your experience. This game is great, but sometimes there's really shitty people floating around it. It's weird, really. Something bad happened to me too, and that's why it took me forever to come back to modding.

Btw, always good to remember - the lost kitten adjustment was by Caitlee, the credits are up there. It's a much more involved proccess than what I was doing here, and they deserve every bit of thanks and upvotes and recommendations in the OG mod.

Also, LOL, THE BIG CHUNGUS MOD! I didn't merge that because they also deserve all the credits and numbers that come with that, but specally because I can't think of anything better to replace it with xD

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I felt so... angry honestly to learn about the roadkill item. It made me furious because the literal week i first discovered this i also learned my cat tosh had been in fact ran over and my parents just... didn't tell me cause they thought it would upset me while ive been freaking out over where my cat was obsessively. I was eventually told and I was (rightfully) mad at my parents... later that day it felt like a slap in the face when i did kevins quest only to find this item. I cried my eyes out right then and there and refused to play starbound and by extension frackin for over 3 years due to how it impacted me (given this cat was a rescue anyway). Thanks for actually being an actual genuine good person. Theres a reason I have a mod that replaces sayters name with big chungus but leaves sentient cookies name untouched. (sentient bless his heart has helped me numerous times even when sayter wouldn't or outright verbally abused me)

Frackin is a titanical mod, we can patch stuff in it, but *removing* content risks breaking a lot of things since most stuff is connected in there. Like, a LOT.

I'm just trying to make Sayter's bs less explicit, not trimming down his fat. That's his work.

Yes, there's a crapton of stuff that gives you madness - my favorite, the caerbanog bunny as a pet - was patched sadly.
That said, there really should be some stuff to make you insane faster, it IS kinda slow even with the best items. Besides going on specific quests to get free madness, it's slow af anyway. I had to leave my character on some puddles of... ketchup for a long time to amass enough points for the mid-to-later researches.

So, meh, if the staff helps, it helps. I'm not even sure how the og was crafted, never came across it in the past when dealing with madness.

people do know that there are items that give straight research/madness when used, right?
there's even a crafting station for making madness inducing items.

It's STILL passive, since instead of spawning pos, it spawns some of the slugs/maggots that burst into pus and drop a lot of weird materials. That's very fast farming of madness related materials, but I'm not sure how much actual madness it actually gives. I'm not really sure how the og staff is crafted either (as in what unlocks it) and I really should change whatever materials it needs, maybe how it unlocks too.

I need people to test it, still working on other stuff on my end.

Honestly I wouldn't nerf the "calcified staff", as gaining madness through just passively waiting around on an atropus world isn't actually very good gameplay, in fact research in general in FU has always been ever since its introduction FU's weakest aspect, due to how passively you accrue it and no efficient "active" means of gaining it.

I *JUST* updated the mod, but yeah, those are good suggestions.

I'm trying to keep things within the scope of what they are supposed to or can be, and mostly not altering their function (Save for the poop staff. That had no salvaging whatsoever.)

I was considering it, yes.
Might leave just the farm animals poop item because it's part of farm stuff and compost anyway, but the rest... Sure, I'm targeting that next probably.

Remove or edit all the stuff to do with poo. It's literal toilet humour and it is not fun in the slightest.

Also "c*cainium ore", like, really? I haven't played SB in some time and I always knew Sayter has problems, but that's low even for him.
