if you need money to live than i don't think you would have a computer that can run gmod i might be wrong if that is the case than go get help from your city's government or sell your computer
Once you resize the locomotive, resize it's bogies and make the train like you normally would. (REMEMBER TO WEIGHT THE BODY AND BOGIES)
And there you go! That's how you get locomotive's! At least that's what i found to work.

If no one will rise to the challenge, anyone who still would like stuff like this, dont give up hope. My high school computer lab class is in the middle of a Digital Programming and Modeling chapter, and I think I will be able to do something like this by the end.
*Shut up I know they arent in the series anymore but they played huge rolls in the old series and their too cool to forget about so shut up Im not stupid.

My current map is for standard gauge and includes some 2ft gauge.
Also to answer why trains derail. One of magnums bogies do not work on this map because this map is 6 years old. Also, in gmod13 garry broke func_movelinears so trains bounce on them. I will probably fix this map sometime in the future, but I would probably scrap it and remake it with better rails.
