Cool man, well I've made two versions for you to choose from. You should be able to see one with a yellow shatter icon and once with a red shatter icon. Let me know if you need anything else and I'll do my best :)

Yeah I really like Block+ and wanted to add it to Essentials, but since it changes a lot of the different monster files in order to differentiate the player block from the enemy block texture, I decided not to use it. I fear it would change the balance of those monsters in Synergies and other difficulty changing mods.

So I thought maybe the next best thing would be to use the shattered block texture and this together. I'll add you if you want to keep this private.

Or it might be easier if I just add you as a friend and upload the mod to steam for friends only. Whatever you prefer ;)

@Lone Wolf McQuade, hmm were you thinking of adding the shatter icon to Essentials? If so, I'm more than happy to make a custom mod of this for you if you like. I'm a bit reluctant to mess with this mod after all this time you know.. Can I add you as a friend so I can send you the googledrive link? I do really appreciate your interest in my mods man :D

Hey guys not sure if anyone is still using this mod, but I'm just getting an update ready for this. You'll be able to see your blocks and enemy blocks as separate colours. To make player blocks ready you will need to use a potion. I'll let you know when it's d one. ;)

Try it man, we'll never be sure until you try. If it works, then I could check in if it is possible to make it automatic. And yes, it should be an item that can cast skills.

That could work, a passive skill that starts an event to trigger a "gotblocked" subtype then an event that ends the trigger. Multiple triggers are possible, so you won't have to worry about affecting the natural mechanics of the game.

There is a triggerable action for on crit too. couldn't you make a mock skill that does no damage but does a particle effect on crit? Link it to an item like the potion of insight? I was thinking I could do something like that for this mod..

Ha well it's simple really, cause when I made it I knew even less about guts. All I did was attach the shield particle effect to the block particle. I'd love to make it so that its a red shield when monsters block and yelliw when the player does.

There's a engineer skill that triggers a stun on block. I'm trying to work out if I can use it to trigger these block animations instead

This is awesome man! I don't even know how you managed to mod this.

If the "block" indicator can be changed, can the "critical" be changed too?

Because I would love a flash effect every time a player have caused a critical hit. Probably a screen flash and slash effect! :D

nice mod, in vanilla TL2 it is so hard to tell if you blocked, the only way i know that an attack was blocked is no damage

Hi, yeah I did orginally intend for it to work that way, but I didn't have the expertise to mess around with stat watching or making up a new skill that does it. I had to stick with just making up a new particle effect.

I think it would be better to either just have character/players showing block and not mobs...or at least have mobs a dfferent color...

Heh yeah man all I did was add the shield animation onto the regular block animation. Simple yet effective I guess :)

It's a great idea, but my expertise ends at visual stuff atm. For dodge I'd imagine you'd need to go into stat watchers or something like that to detect when the player dodges. Bit out of my range sadly :)

I merged this in my personal mod merge (which is quite massive), and it had absolutely no compatibility problems. Very well done! One of the best mods on the workshop, notwithstanding its simplicity.
