I'm likely to rebuild this mod from scratch at some point and start over, with everything thats wrong in this one, I can't fully fix without breaking things. So I'll leave this up for anyone who still happens to use it. 682 people as of this post. Once that drops below 100, I'll remove the mod.

Could use a modeler, possibly a texture artist, to help though.

li-ion batteries dont have energy density that high
(coming from someone who powers his whole house with them)

a 1mwh lithium battery would take way more space let alone a 70mwh battery
Vas  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 7:06pm
Yea, I don't know how to alter planets to add the new resources, sorry. You can still build one type of battery without those. Think of it as a reason for building an orbital station so you can import resources from space.
Torres 20 Oct, 2017 @ 10:46am
The spodumene ore and zinc ore are still only found in asteroids? started a new world with a friend and we haven't been able to find anything on Earth
Vas  [author] 22 Sep, 2017 @ 11:51am
Sorry, I've no idea how I'd even go about fixing that, and haven't heard of anyone having that issue yet. I'm unsure what would even cause it though.

I'll need someone to help with models and textures though if I am to ever be able to update this again.
TheStechi 22 Sep, 2017 @ 6:06am
I have a bug, where sometimes the normal small-grid batteries on Easy Start Earth suddenly have the models of their large-grid counterparts and because of that are placed in impossible spaces.
Vas  [author] 14 Aug, 2017 @ 7:47pm
There is one battery type you can still build without the new materials, its the base level battery. However, you will need zinc and lithium for the more advanced batteries, which I've not found a way to make spawn on planets.
Torres 14 Aug, 2017 @ 5:12pm
These new minerals only spawn in space? in asteroids? I've started a new survival game and no luck with zinc or lithium etc... and it seems it changes all battery related icons to these new ones so vanilla batteries disappear and you have to find these new minerals/ores or you can't get a battery at all.
Asher 13 Jan, 2017 @ 4:44pm
are the textures up to date with beta version?
Vas  [author] 22 Dec, 2016 @ 2:28pm
I'll try at some point, however I'm not too sure how the scrollable system works.
hyev7fam 22 Dec, 2016 @ 2:26pm
will this mod be updated to be scrollable becase right now my g menu is full of batterys right now.
GruntBlender 26 Nov, 2016 @ 1:53am
Looks like the icons for NiMH and NiZn sets are swapped around.
Vas  [author] 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:56pm
Just point out the problems and I'll fix it. I may not have noticed them. If you want you can simply specify file and line number.
File.sbc Line 5, 6, 10, etc.
I'm in a rather bleh mood right now so I'll get around to it when I can.
Neitronus 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:52pm
Anyway i dug up some more problems in CubeBlocks.sbc. I can fix them for you but i need you to publish it then. Can i add you sowe can discuss it?
Neitronus 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:38am
Only one mod is active, i was testing that all night long so i'm pretty sure that this battery couldn't be found in either category or via search.
Vas  [author] 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:28am
Plus it was my birthday yesterday and I still don't feel like doing any work on stuff right now.
Vas  [author] 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:27am
I'm not sure how to do that part yet, and I personally like the old method better. The G Menu is going to be flooded either way, because if I want to give people the scrollable menu, I have to keep compatibility for the people who want the old menu too.

I'm 95% sure that when I tested this mod when updating it, I had all the relevant blocks available to build. Do you have any other battery related mods installed that may be trying to overwrite anything? I'll look more into it later, have been playing Ark Survival lately instead because it has far more logic and physics and realism than Space Engineers does.
Neitronus 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:23am
Plus, it would be great to see mod adjusted to 1.142 building menu changes: Instead of flooding G-meny with different variants you can group them into scrollable menu.
Neitronus 23 Nov, 2016 @ 12:21am
It looks like i'm missing NiZn 3x3x2 battery in G-menu.
Vas  [author] 22 Nov, 2016 @ 9:01am
No to compatibility. If you want your power cells back when grinding a battery, use lithium batteries, you get all your cells back with that one. The other two, you lose the cells due to the complexity of taking apart the battery again.
Vas  [author] 22 Nov, 2016 @ 8:59am
The 1x1x1 is a special battery, its only for small grids because the normal battery for large grids is 1x1x1 already.
Neitronus 22 Nov, 2016 @ 7:05am
NiMH 1x1x1 is only availble to small grids. Any chance for a hotfix to appear sometime soon? And BTW, there's any chance of getting compatibility patch with this: Discharged powercells
HyratelWyvern 3 Nov, 2016 @ 4:58pm
@Vas yes, that's probably the case - it was several months ago that I tried the oremod
Vas  [author] 3 Nov, 2016 @ 1:00am
The ore mod shouldn't be required to make this work, as the two required ores are in this mod as well. I think, and it shouldn't take a day RL to get the iron. I've adjusted the rates in the ore mod (unless you've not updated since I did that update?) to reflect the same speed as the game's original ores speeds. The ore mod of mine uses all of the original game speeds for refining.

This spreadsheet was used to calculate the new refine rates for all ores. 1kg of iron ore takes 1.56 seconds to refine into 0.71kg iron, 0.12 gravel, 0.08 Nickel, 0.06 Cobalt. Faster if using upgrade modules.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y3SeJTEiz-7Fl0OtwX2f2mrmSD6d6IRXl2CoSC-GsWc/edit

It will take 345.16 seconds to refine Platinum Ore however, the longest one in the spreadsheet. But you'll get the same amount of Platinum you would have in that time of refining old platinum, plus more resources. Originally, you only get 0.01kg of platinum from 1kg of ore in 4 seconds. Mine, you get 0.43kg.
HyratelWyvern 1 Nov, 2016 @ 7:11pm
I want to enjoy this, but the OreMod that goes iwth it makes it take somewhere around a day IRL to refine enough iron to go from 2 solar panels + 1 Arc Furnace to a Refinery
Vas  [author] 19 Sep, 2016 @ 7:17pm
I've added an RTG to the mod now. Its quite experimental, could use opinions and thoughts.
Vas  [author] 25 Aug, 2016 @ 5:36am
The mod has been updated and appears to be functional. I'm unsure about ores yet that it adds, I know that they may not spawn in a planet if the planet is already loaded however prior to the mod being put in. Same with asteroids, if you use infinite density, you simply need to find a new asteroid to spawn by flying out in one direction and keep looking till you find the ore.
bpais008 16 Apr, 2016 @ 4:29pm
Crashes game when loaded, does something to nvidia video driver. Says card is not supported. Very weird mod bug.
Torres 26 Jan, 2016 @ 8:55am
CTD = Crash to Desktop
Vas  [author] 26 Jan, 2016 @ 4:49am
CTD? What's that mean? :P

And update? They made an update that breaks mods editing voxel materials?

If you want you can send the file, a dropbox link or whatever but I will be unlikely able to update it for a while because I will have to go to town to do so. I can't upload things via my cell phone net. THey don't like tethering and have been blocking as many connections as they can.
Soapy Papoose 24 Jan, 2016 @ 12:22pm
Hey Vas. The latest update causes the game to CTD when using this mod. I did some testing and found out that the crash is related to VoxelMaterials.sbc. I was able to creat a new copy of the file with updated definitions. After further testing, the mod is working as it should. If you like, I can send you the updated file. I figured at the very least it might save you some headache :) I will not upload my corrections to the workshop. Have a great day and thanks for making this mod!
Vas  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 1:09am
You can leave the planet by using your jet packs alone. Last I tried at least. Planets don't completely capture you.
Torres 18 Jan, 2016 @ 7:00am
Thanks for the answer, would be great to have a version without the new materials. I'm mid-game stranded in a frozen lake in a planet and I don't really feel like restarting :(
Vas  [author] 17 Jan, 2016 @ 10:29pm
I believe so, I haven' updated them in a long time though so I don't really know what issues may arise from using them.
Torres 17 Jan, 2016 @ 6:09pm
are these station compatible? after the planets update I'm stranded in the middle of a lake with my landing ship -_- and I need a way to store and manage power on survival, damn pirates... gotta dig!
Vas  [author] 24 May, 2015 @ 6:38am
I'm not sure, I can't update the mods lately because my net is severe. It may be time for me to mark all my mods private for the time being so I can later update them when my net is repaired. I won't really be able to investigate the issue for a while.
alcangel_neal 23 May, 2015 @ 3:08pm
Hey Vas. Just wanted to show some love for the batteries, makes the idea of small ships powered by batteries a reality that couldn't really happen with the Vanilla set up. One question though, since this mod is the only one I use that 'adds' mineral types maybe you can help; I haven't found any silicon since I started using this mod, even places I had marked for silicon deposits just seem to have disappeared :/ Any help would be appreciated :D
Vas  [author] 1 May, 2015 @ 12:28am
Because I think they may have added that texture sometime after I made the mod. Or some other reason that I couldn't add the texture. I don't know.
Raven4K 30 Apr, 2015 @ 4:36pm
hey why can't we have the nice danger high voltage sign on the large battery's that the vanilla ones have I liked that sign on them
Vas  [author] 14 Apr, 2015 @ 11:59pm
I won't be able to update any of my mods for a long time, net is pretty severely bad now.
texix [FR] 13 Apr, 2015 @ 10:13am
the zinc ore is not detectable.
by against the LI-ION battery you should increase the power cells to 240 seen their storage and Nickel-Zinc battery reduce power cells to 60.
otherwise the mod is very nice!
Vas  [author] 20 Mar, 2015 @ 6:05pm
That is rather odd. I don't know what would cause that. I'll try to look into it a bit later. As I said though, I can't update mods lately, my net is too severe.
Iueras 20 Mar, 2015 @ 10:54am
FYI adding this mod changed every existing deposit of gold to cobalt. Have not been able to find gold since.
Vas  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 9:44am
Well I have an extremely difficult time uploading so I'll try to change it, but my connection is extremely severe. I made another mod lately but I can't upload it at all.
nasprinm 15 Mar, 2015 @ 4:37am
I checked it again in the .sbm File, seems its still "False" :-(

<VoxelMaterial>
<Id>
<TypeId>VoxelMaterialDefinition</TypeId>
<SubtypeId>Zinc_01</SubtypeId>
</Id>
<MinedOre>Zinc</MinedOre>
<MinedOreRatio>1</MinedOreRatio>
<CanBeHarvested>true</CanBeHarvested>
<IsRare>false</IsRare>
<IsIndestructible>false</IsIndestructible>
<DamageRatio>0.4</DamageRatio>
<DiffuseXZ>Textures\Voxels\Silver_01_ForAxisXZ_de.dds</DiffuseXZ>
<NormalXZ>Textures\Voxels\Silver_01_ForAxisXZ_ns.dds</NormalXZ>
<SpecularPower>8</SpecularPower>
<SpecularShininess>0.25</SpecularShininess>
</VoxelMaterial>

I dont know, if this is the only thing you need to change to have ore detectors ehhhm detect the ore, but as far as i know the only ore types with the IsRare=False Parameter are the different stone ores ;-)

Anyway, if you'll have time to work this out eventually the mod will be even greater!
Vas  [author] 14 Mar, 2015 @ 8:46pm
It is set to true if I remember right. I'm fairly sure they all are.
nasprinm 14 Mar, 2015 @ 4:42pm
Hello, thanks for the Mod - a really nice thing to have more ores and things to craft out of them! As suggested, could you please set the Zinc "IsRare" Parameter to true? Its is really hard to find a ore without it being detected on the Scanner =)
Vas  [author] 12 Mar, 2015 @ 4:23pm
That's cause vanilla batteries use a "more common" resource sort of. The engine doesn't allow you to specify how much of a resource you find. That's why Iron is in there 2 times, to make it 2 times less rare than everything else. Same with Stone. except it is in there 4 times.
Dardomor 12 Mar, 2015 @ 3:58pm
true, what I meant is, it would be nice to have the different sized batteries, but based on vanilla resources :)
So I think that would need be another mod, because this one actually replaces the vanilla batteries. I like this mod, but in using it I find that I like vanilla batteries and resources better.
Just a personal preferance :)
Vas  [author] 12 Mar, 2015 @ 7:58am
Well it wouldn't really be possible to balance it by finding the same old resources the game has so. Nor would it make sense to make a lithium battery out of nickle.
