There should be a timer block set in the miner. this should activate all necessary systems. A secondary timer block activates that allows you to adjust its run time before its shuts itself down.

Simple, cheap, yet effective and reasonably reliable.
This little beast ate an asteroid moon of average size within an hour, really not bad for a fully automated drone.
