For instance, what if you're in a server where not everybody can spawn weapons, yet everybody owns a Toolgun?

I do not want to be rude, but you can also do it in singleplayer without this, spawn (with a toolgun) a weapon that you don't have, and put an trail on it, then take it. It worked for me.

Any possibility to change the place where you put the trails? (Like the Offset Trails addon)
You could place some bones (Head, Elbow, Legs, Pelvis) in a menu...
