Couldn't do it due to bad weather!
So this is still on my Bucket List.
Water is extremely scarce, because the river flow would decrease and increase randomly, which results in water supply going up and down too. Starting tile's river merge just north provides plenty until you reach around 3k pop or so, then it will really start straining since sometimes you drain the water faster than the river flow.
Space to work on is also really tight too. Gets really hard after 5k population, which is my target of difficulty.
As for dams, you can always make sewage dams. Some of my sewage dams are generating a couple hundred megawatts, thanks to my population's enthusiastic sewage-making.
Sewage, that flooding areas :)
However, I can't seem to update the existing map. I must have been editing the wrong save or something, as in the content manager, there are two copies of the map, and I can't update the one that has the update button. I'm going to try for a bit longer, and if I can't get it it to update, I'll upload it as a new map.
It actually took a lot of tweaking to get the water running semi consistently at it's current level (I kept ending up with waves of flood water building up and coming downstream (due to the twists in the river I'm guessing?)).
On my game I used water towers, then when I expanded downstream I used pumps down past where the rivers merge. Also, putting your waste treatment plant upstream might help, i'm not sure if citizens will complain about that.
I'm open to trying to increase the size of the main river though if people would like that. I've been kind of itching to improve the highway layout anyways.
Only problem: The water supply is really inconsistent, and the level fluctuates a lot over time. With three pumps, I often drain the river dry. Is that expected with a river that small? Is it an issue to fix? Should I be using water towers instead?
