I'm sorry, is it possible you make a version with subtle grids?

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments, I'm glad this mod is making the game more fun for you!

Thank-you for updating for Rise of the Rajas, this is a hidden gem of a mod, without it terrain looks terrible I could never go back! It's a shame no-one seems to know about it!

It's like playing on a higher resolution! easily my favourite texture mod.

This is my favourite mod, it makes a really nice subtle difference :-)

king pig I -

There is if you're able to view them at full size, and in-game, but it's subtle and has been made mostly for people who noticed texture issues in the AoE2HD's original textures. Sadly I don't think Steam allows for full-size pics here, and the links I added to show them were remvoed as Steam doesn't like Mediafire. I'll re-upload the pics with a different image host soon.

Iambluelightning -

This mode contains modified versions of the game's default textures, except farms - so like all tetxure mods, it will override any texture packs you're already using. You can, however, use this alongside any farm mods you have installed, as this mod does not contain farm textures.

And thanks for the compliment! :)
Blue_Lightning 12 Apr, 2015 @ 10:24pm
Is it compatible with texture packs or is it for default textures. I'd also like to second the congrats. People like you breathe life into the game and improve it for others. Great work!

Thanks aquaflute! :) This mod only affects landscape textures, but it may well be that the changes are allowing the units to stand out better against the textures so you're seeing things more clearly there.

I want to give you some encouragement. Stuff like this genuinely enhance the gaming experience and I am very grateful for this mod. I use different texture packs but so far this is the only mod I can find that improve unit textures and I think the change is very nice. Keep up the good work!

Hi ------,

This was uploaded a few days too eary for April fools! Wish I'd thought of doing one though.

The difference is clear from the HD side-by-side screenshots I've included in the description above. Use the full-screen viewing options provided by MediaFire for the best comparison. At 1920x1080, in-game, the difference is very noticeable.

If this mod's not for you, there are dozens of others out there that change the style of the game rather than just improving the defualt textures. I've done one myself, and I also reccomend checking out mods by Ozhara and Pesquiera :)

I see absolutely no difference at all. I guess this was supposed to be an april fool. ;)

Thanks gigamn!

I really enjoy this mod. Any other terrain texture i tried was too irritating, because the make the units difficult to see sometimes. Good job.

Hi Mythic -

This mod contains altered (ehanced/fixed) versions of the game's default textures. Subscribing to any new texture mod will overwrite the existing textures you have installed. So no, texture mods don't work alongside each other unless they're altering different textures; this mod contains all textures except farms.

Say we have another texture pack (like one of Ozhara's) will this enhancement work with that too or make no difference?

Hi Semirotta -

Thanks for the feedback. The difference is there, but Steam's reduced-size screenshots do make it difficult to see (except for with the medium water texture). You can try viewing the larger-sized screenshots by clicking them - if you prefer, I can provide links to HD screenshots.

The difference is far more noticeable in-game at 1920x1080. The original textures have an odd, blotchy, blocky appearance not present in the pre-HD edition AoE2. This mod makes these blemishes less apparent, and also reduces blurriness on road textures. It also replaces the awful medium-depth water texture.

It's not intended to overhaul the game's appearance, or change the style in the slightest, but rather fix some issues present in HD Edition's textures. If you're looking for more detailed or new 'HD' textures, try my 'Nostalgia Reborn' pack or one of Ozhara's or Pesquiera's excellent mods :)

Honestly I see no difference, just the ground texture etc. moving to different position thats all. No point downloading this.

i see the difference on unit ^^

I like this mod very much, it's an interesting approach to solve several issues of the HD edition! Thanks for your work!
