someone tell me
I use binding keys like below
bind f2 "snd_restart; suitvolume 0.8"
After that, I just made continuous changes as I played (and replayed) the game with the realization of how disatisfied I was with the sounds in general. My absolute desire with Black Mesa is to have it feel (in both the looks *AND* the sounds) like I'm playing the same character, in the same world, as I do in Half-Life 2.
It's hard to describe, but Valve-made game audio always seems to have a sort of... smooth resonance in its style, in my opinion. HL sound effects were created by the same guy who did the games' soundtracks, so I don't think it's unreasonable to think the sound effect style and soundscaping were imbued with a certain musical quality.
But thankfully, with this newly opened workshop, and some users like you bring back that balanced nostalgia, I can now personally see Half-Life in a modern style of the second game line in a way I believe should have be like if it were to be as consistent as the second games in terms of sound effects, music, etc.
I really like how you stay loyal to the sound style of the second game line based on a comment you posted a while ago on this page.
I would like to see HL2 styled versions of the original classic games, but I see flaws in this game.
Now, when it comes to non-third-party/non-fan-made remake games for example: Halo Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, or Majora's Mask 3D; I'm 100% fine with those because they are made by non-third-party groups and companies.
When it comes to remake games that "are" made by third-party groups, like Black Mesa, that's when I get really picky on certain details.
Within game, please:
1. Quick save.
2. Type "snd_restart" in the console.
3. Quick load.
If that doesn't work, please let me know. You *may* have to follow the steps above for the first time you're at each place where the corresponding sounds are replaced.
Then let's wait for Xen chapters guys:)
If you hear no sound (from HEV, tram announcer, or VOX), please make sure to quick save, type "snd_restart" in the ingame console, and then quick load. That should fix that.
"Black Mesa Publishing Tool: Publishing Tool fixed (for real real this time!). Will now launch properly and works correctly."
Can you confirm this time it is real real fixed and you can fix your workshop elements? :D

In this mod, I purposefully replaced the sound file for that "transition" event with a blank sound. I did that because I changed the scripts so that you can now hear the "Black Mesa announcement system now under military command." being played organically by the VOX speakers in the first two levels of WGH. It should be the first line you hear after emerging from the inoperable elevator shaft.
Since the blank sound has a very short duration, you'll still see closecaptions for it, but it's otherwise working as intended.
A version that works can be found in the link I posted a few comments down.
In the meantime, you can download this addon from HERE [gamebanana.com].
Maybe it's a error from a recent update? Because it worked.
And thank you for uploading your mods to gamebanana.com :) will definitly load and add them to get more original feeling in Black Mesa :>
As for having additional explosion effects in the test chamber, that would certainly require a change to the map file itself. Personally, I'm opposed to making changes to the maps, because it can lead to big incompatibilities with other mods and can cause issues when the game gets updated.
Now, there *is* a mod that I have made (which has never worked with the workshop) that incidentally changes the sounds of the explosions in the test chamber. Specifically, it replaces all the Black Mesa explosion sound effects with those from Half-Life 2. It's not quite the same thing you're asking for, but they are explosion sounds from Valve nonetheless.
You think its possible to bring back this explosion sounds in the test chamber are to include them some way?
Your other Mods are the same way to get to work? Would be nice if you could upload your other Mods to gamebanana.com too like you said :) that would be the following im interested in:
- Valve-style World Sounds
- Classic Suit Charger Sounds
- Classic HP Charger Sounds
- Half-Life 1 Music
Thank you very much if you upload them :)
I added captions to the VOX lines.
I fear that that we may need to wait until the next Black Mesa patch for the mod publishing to work again.
