I get that I can Ctrl-force it to pick up logs and pines. What I don't get is why it picks up other things like tuft and grass and flint, but not the logs and pines dropped by the very tree I handymanishly chopped down a moment earlier.
But otherwise really good mod :D
PS: In SW and RoG it works :/
That said - I have noticed issues similar to what you described creeping in over the past months as they update the game. It is to be expected that my gameplay code breaks as they refactor theirs. So it is not ONLY a controller issue.
Thanks for the praise, it's nice to hear people are having additional fun with this mod.
If you find a problem or miss a feature, you can provide a bug report or make a request. You should do so clearly, concisely and politely. You will find it works wonders, not only here but in life in general.
if this would be possible, it would be great to use along with action queue mod.
some companies like camtasia and sony have a free trail period. i suggest you activate those only when your ready to dedicate time to the video though. for a more leasurely time period, get one of the free ones like Lightworks or Windows Movie Maker. WMM is easier to use and learn for a noob, but it's limited in your ability to edit.
Your issue with not crafting or equipping the shovel or the pickaxe is simply due to there being a tree nearby and you having an axe in your hand. In the scenario with the rock among the trees, you have an axe to equip, and that is what the mod does. It won't cause any tool to be crafted if you have any tools that can be equipped and for which there are valid targets around.
The issue later with the sappling/shovel is the same.
To dig that sappling or mine that rock, you have to equip the proper tool manually and then press the action button.
I am currently working on this mod, adding and fixing a bunch of stuff. One of the things in my list is hotkeys for the tools. The feature you showed from the other mod is not bad - in the sense it is not cheaty nor does it dirty up the interface, and I might add it in the future. My time to program this (and other) mods is rather limited, though, and I'm trying to catch up with over six months of user feedback.

From the description above:
"If no actions are available for the ACTION button (i.e. pressing spacebar doesn't cause your character to do anything), then this mod will: "
The torch will get equipped if it is REALLY dark (dark enough for Charlie to come) AND you press the action button. If your video's keyboard indicator is valid, you didn't press anything, just let it go dark. The mod does not do anything on its own. The mod will then equip any light sources you have, and try to keep your hands free for tools/weapons.
this is with the GOG.com version but all the other steam mods i use work without issue
However, during the tests the mod was not loaded a couple of times, which never happened before and is likely to be due to the last patch and be affecting other mods.
Regarding what you call "mouse functions": this mod adds to the functionality of the action button. It has nothing to do with the mouse.
