@Laudi and everyone using my mods: A few weeks ago, I took a look at my mods - and DS's modding API. There are way too many changes at the latter since I last worked with it (some... years ago?). As I hardly play the game anymore, my motivation is not that high - BUT... I'll use your comment as proverbial kick to get some updating done in this time of covid19 - my most insignificant contribution to the hardships of the moment...
Laudi 6 May, 2020 @ 7:17am
Sadly, the bug with the space bar still occurs :/ I would love to use the mod, hope you find the time to update it :D
Proximity_Microwave 1 Jan, 2019 @ 7:02pm
I can confirm the bug still occures with no other mods running. Here is a screenshot of the error it gives. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1611415488 Sorry. I forgot last time that I could share a screenshot through Steam.
hime  [author] 31 Dec, 2018 @ 3:11pm
@Proximity_Microwave: happy new year... please test for conflicts - run with this mod and none other.
Proximity_Microwave 31 Dec, 2018 @ 6:31am
The mod seems to crash when playing with base Don't Starve. It crashes the game and gives an error, it's too long for me to post in here, but is easily reproducable, simply use space bar to pick up a few items.
hime  [author] 7 Dec, 2018 @ 8:59am
@dsinglaterry: Could never tell from your handle! :D But never mind, apology accepted.
dsinglaterry 6 Dec, 2018 @ 4:35pm
Sorry @hime, English is not my first language.
hime  [author] 1 Dec, 2018 @ 6:22am
@dsinglaterry: should I? You could have phrased that more nicely. I'll look into it when I have the time.
dsinglaterry 30 Nov, 2018 @ 4:48pm
You should add support for the Scythe mod
hime  [author] 11 Nov, 2018 @ 10:24am
@harl whatever: it picks up the logs and pinecones alright. As long as you have an axe equipped and there is a tree in range, it will keep on chopping. That is the default behaviour in the game. In general - and this is one of the cases - the mod only kicks in after the default actions are exhausted.
harl windwolf 11 Nov, 2018 @ 9:16am
pines = pine cones
harl windwolf 11 Nov, 2018 @ 9:16am
Is there a way to include the default looting process when pressing the action button?
I get that I can Ctrl-force it to pick up logs and pines. What I don't get is why it picks up other things like tuft and grass and flint, but not the logs and pines dropped by the very tree I handymanishly chopped down a moment earlier.
Gay Idiet 14 Mar, 2018 @ 8:05am
@hime Okay, thanks for replying ^^
hime  [author] 13 Mar, 2018 @ 6:29pm
@Just...: This is new, crashing on vanilla. I'll look into that. Thanks for the feedback.
Gay Idiet 12 Mar, 2018 @ 10:59am
Crashes in normal DS :(
But otherwise really good mod :D

PS: In SW and RoG it works :/
OldAbbyRead 17 Nov, 2017 @ 8:09pm
I like this mod, but it needs controller support.
hime  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 9:37am
@rathmiron: I haven't had time to play in several months, let alone work on the mods. Does not mean I won't ever, though, as I still love the game and obviously would need my mods to play it if and when I do.
That said - I have noticed issues similar to what you described creeping in over the past months as they update the game. It is to be expected that my gameplay code breaks as they refactor theirs. So it is not ONLY a controller issue.
Thanks for the praise, it's nice to hear people are having additional fun with this mod.
rathmiron 15 Oct, 2017 @ 1:20pm
Are you still working on this? I'm using this mod with a controller (xbox 360) and it doesn't lways work right. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it "stutters", but still works, and other times it just keeps "stuttering". When I use the action key on the keyboard it works fine, so know it a controller combatibility issue. I would love to have it work properly with the controller.
Lysis 8 Jul, 2017 @ 10:13pm
will do, thanks!
hime  [author] 8 Jul, 2017 @ 10:10pm
@kerlyssa: Consider? Sure. But the it would definitely require more time than I have. Whether it is a bug... the mod still gets things wrong now and then. Just remember to check this page if the mod starts behaving differently, so you know what's new ;)
Lysis 8 Jul, 2017 @ 10:05pm
also, forgive me if this would be considered a new feature, but would you consider making the filters adjustable? like, if you wanted to exclude stumps, but dig mushrooms, or hack bamboo but exclude vines.
Lysis 8 Jul, 2017 @ 10:00pm
i have accidentally mined so many limpet rocks. they are safe now. thank you <3
hime  [author] 8 Jul, 2017 @ 9:29pm
@kerlyssa: ???
Lysis 8 Jul, 2017 @ 4:41pm
limpets. saved. <3
hime  [author] 9 Apr, 2017 @ 1:00pm
@Crafty_: I'm glad you find it useful. Happy to share.
Mumshroom 9 Apr, 2017 @ 7:39am
@hime I don't mind the unsupported, all I have to do is switch to the scythe first then on my way I go. In all honesty I enjoy the mod. I just wanted to share my funny experience.
hime  [author] 9 Apr, 2017 @ 7:09am
@Crafty_: Had to look up scythes. They are provided by a mod. My mod does not inherently support tools provided by mods.
If you find a problem or miss a feature, you can provide a bug report or make a request. You should do so clearly, concisely and politely. You will find it works wonders, not only here but in life in general.
Mumshroom 7 Apr, 2017 @ 9:58am
>Mfw I want to clear out an area of grass using my scyhe but the mod says: "Nah let's pick this all by hand."
Mumshroom 7 Apr, 2017 @ 8:43am
@hime Do uou not like summarize?
hime  [author] 7 Apr, 2017 @ 2:12am
@Crafty_: all the stuff written on the wall of text. Learn to read.
Mumshroom 6 Apr, 2017 @ 4:03pm
Interesting wall of text, but WHAT does the mod do?!
hime  [author] 17 Dec, 2016 @ 12:20pm
@michaelbean21: yes, but works only client side.
michaelbean21 16 Dec, 2016 @ 10:36pm
Is there a version of this for dont starve together?
Ryofu 4 Aug, 2016 @ 2:02pm
Thank you for the fast response hime and fast fix. I will post again if I run into any other issues. I was honestly shocked to log on today and see you had fixed something that just happened to me yesterday :) Keep up the good work.
hime  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 11:43am
@Ryofu: the bug is fixed.
hime  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 11:29am
The bug is related to the new features. I'll look into the bug reported by Ryofu now. Sceadugenga, if you are stumbling into ANOTHER bug, then you have to provide me with more information.
Sceadugenga 4 Aug, 2016 @ 11:25am
I, like Ryofu, am finding that this mod is crashing my game. It did not used to when I first got it, and it worked flawlessly for tons of uses around that time. Upon pressing the spacebar, the entire game bring up an error message with the options to exit the game or disable the mods.
Ryofu 3 Aug, 2016 @ 2:18pm
This mod is crashing my game when ever i try to chop down a burnt tree for charcoal. I tested disabling all other mods except this one to isolate it and confirm it was the issue . I checked through the comments and saw not a single person seems to meantion is issue becides me so i'm rather confused why it is happening. One would think this would be a commonly found problem doesn't everyone need charcoal for crocpots and drying racks??
Tuga_Venatus 24 Jul, 2016 @ 4:09am
can this mod be used as a sort of auto equip function, for example, if i have a axe equiped but click in a rock, it would change for the pick automaticaly to harvest the rock?
if this would be possible, it would be great to use along with action queue mod.
PrideGroupIsEvil 16 Jun, 2016 @ 6:42am
well OBS Studio, Nohboard, and just about any video editor will do. OBS Studio gives you the ability to make the recording, Nohboard is the keyboard overlay, and the editor allowed me to cut outthe 10 minutes of not doing much in my video.

some companies like camtasia and sony have a free trail period. i suggest you activate those only when your ready to dedicate time to the video though. for a more leasurely time period, get one of the free ones like Lightworks or Windows Movie Maker. WMM is easier to use and learn for a noob, but it's limited in your ability to edit.
hime  [author] 15 Jun, 2016 @ 10:58pm
@Layarion: If you could give me a couple of pointers of how you make the videos, I'd really appreciate the help to learn how to make them too. :) I was really impressed by the one you make to illustrate your issues with this mod. And since I'm only making mods that tackle gameplay code, screenshots are quite pointless.
PrideGroupIsEvil 15 Jun, 2016 @ 1:47pm
ok, until then. here is a sample of video's i've made before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxzWhgU2iJ8 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1-pT6jFQr8
hime  [author] 15 Jun, 2016 @ 1:41pm
@Layarion: If you really want to do that, I - and all the people who can't really use the mod to its full power - would be very thankful. But first: make sure you manage to use the mod properly! And second - there is a major update on its way... and I'm going to write better instructions once I upload it. Give it a week or so.
PrideGroupIsEvil 15 Jun, 2016 @ 1:40pm
just lemme know if you want anythign emphasized, or changed. like perhaps the keyboard overlay to look different or so on.
PrideGroupIsEvil 15 Jun, 2016 @ 1:39pm
Oh and if you want, i can make a video for you to post on here show-casing all the features.
hime  [author] 14 Jun, 2016 @ 11:45pm
...continuing...
Your issue with not crafting or equipping the shovel or the pickaxe is simply due to there being a tree nearby and you having an axe in your hand. In the scenario with the rock among the trees, you have an axe to equip, and that is what the mod does. It won't cause any tool to be crafted if you have any tools that can be equipped and for which there are valid targets around.
The issue later with the sappling/shovel is the same.
To dig that sappling or mine that rock, you have to equip the proper tool manually and then press the action button.
I am currently working on this mod, adding and fixing a bunch of stuff. One of the things in my list is hotkeys for the tools. The feature you showed from the other mod is not bad - in the sense it is not cheaty nor does it dirty up the interface, and I might add it in the future. My time to program this (and other) mods is rather limited, though, and I'm trying to catch up with over six months of user feedback.

hime  [author] 14 Jun, 2016 @ 11:45pm
@Layarion: Thank you for taking the time to make the video, showing your issues clearly.
From the description above:
"If no actions are available for the ACTION button (i.e. pressing spacebar doesn't cause your character to do anything), then this mod will: "
The torch will get equipped if it is REALLY dark (dark enough for Charlie to come) AND you press the action button. If your video's keyboard indicator is valid, you didn't press anything, just let it go dark. The mod does not do anything on its own. The mod will then equip any light sources you have, and try to keep your hands free for tools/weapons.

here is the video https://mega.nz/#!HpIwla6C!1Hc12h0M4_c7mQfzJCz0tSKvCE3_PbzG1pD3R7yMl-E

this is with the GOG.com version but all the other steam mods i use work without issue
PrideGroupIsEvil 14 Jun, 2016 @ 1:09pm
ok i'll make a video and show you. should be ready in a few hours or less
hime  [author] 14 Jun, 2016 @ 12:48pm
@Layarion: I've tested the version on Steam on Vanilla, RoG and SW, and the mod performs to description. I used the same settings as in your screenshot.
However, during the tests the mod was not loaded a couple of times, which never happened before and is likely to be due to the last patch and be affecting other mods.
Regarding what you call "mouse functions": this mod adds to the functionality of the action button. It has nothing to do with the mouse.
